Spare me the melodrama. No one said "forget the past." Of course the past should be remembered, talked about, and appreciated for what it is. But it's also fine for people to speak up and express their opinion when they think the historical trend was wrong, maybe even harmful. You don't get to shut down those conversations either, with a bunch of fake outrage about "political agendas."
Just because something was popular or trendy in the past does not automatically make it "classic" and worthy of being brought back--especially in the history of women's fashion. There are no women hoping to squeeze back into whalebone corsets, or to have their feet bound until they break, or a million other repressive things they've had to do to be accepted as "beautiful".
Everything you look from the past is gonna sound outdated, not only costumes. There was a reason back then to dress like that and it is just not because we like tities.

It's well-known that the gaming industry (and other artistic media, like comics) has historically been male-dominated, and has veered towards ridiculously oversexualized depictions of women. Absurd body proportions, half-naked, impossible contorted poses shoving tits and ass into the camera. Art doesn't have to be physically real, that's fine. But it's not even real femininity; it's this tacky, icky, sticky male wet dream fantasy version of femininity.
If that's what you like, that's cool, I really don't care. But there's also nothing wrong with not liking it.

Dude, you're literally making my argument for me. Right, kids grow up watching shows and playing games, and whatever they see all the time is what they think is normal. You saw lots of oversized tits and ass popping out everywhere, so you think that's normal. But a future kid who grows up seeing tasteful, flattering depictions of femininity would think that's normal. That's the whole point.

Yes, I think a culture change in the gaming and comics world would be healthy and I'd welcome it--but it's not my personal crusade. I just commented on my own personal taste.
