Question Does Simple = Easy to use?

Biggs

FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Ryu is a simple character because of his gameplan. All it is is just through fireballs then anti air. This however does not mean he is easy to use.

It's hella impressive winning with a "simple" or "easy to use" character. Generally this means most people have this character figured out and are aware of their opponents options. Beating someone who knows what all of your options are is no easy task. So props to Theo, Sonic Fox, Forever King etc for placing well with these "simple" and "easy to use" characters.

Remember, representing ermac is illmatic.
Ermac is a good example of this. Yea he is ezmac but once you try to hang with top level Sonyas kabals and cyraxes shit gets real quick.

This always seems to be a big debate -- but yeah, a character having a simpler archetype doesn't mean he's easier to win with against the better characters in the game.

GL is the perfect example.. He was derided for being 'easy', but there's so much other BS that he has to put up with that you have to be a pretty smart player to do well with him. There's a reason why Denzell and Orochi are the only players who've made Top 8 with him (and even for them, it isn't always a walk in the park).

GL is really simple lol. B13 mb oa rockets...not much new tech coming out for him either
b13 is not the end all be all in the long run. Sure it's a scrub killer, but against anyone who has invested time into the game, he has to start thinking hard on what to do. Simple does not always equal lots of tech. Oftentimes it's just means the character has plenty of risks involved where he needs to be aware of pretty much everything. That's GL in a nutshell.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
Sounds like someone is trying to synoymize the word "simple" with the term "shallow" while someone else is synonymizing "simple" with the idea of "easy to use"

Context changes everything. Shallow is not something Batman or Ryu are. They are easy to use but each has a deep meta of tech to explore. They both just happen to have really simple and effective tools to ride out without having to immediately resort to their deeper strategies.

But i mean when picking him up theres not that much you need to learn. He requires solid spacing and fundamentals because he doesnt have many gimmicks so i guess that makes him not simple.

All these people claiming "x" character is easy, yet so few people are actually successful with them.

What does easy even mean? Easy combos? Easy game plan to learn? Does this character beat you online a lot?

Really likes to throw things at you.
"Your character is EZ" is what every scrub ever has said in every fighting game after they get their ass beat. I hear this on a daily basis because I main Kenshi and Cage.
