Cetrion is a Elder God that has a shit ton of powers controlling all the elements are just a few of many. Gameplay wise she's literally an amalgam of Fujin, Rain, Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Tremor.

Majority of those people are ignorant casuals who think "omg NRS makes a new character that is made for keeping away, zoning =must be I2 again!" but the reality is A. these people have no clue about MK lore as to WHY she has as many powers as she does being an Elder God/Goddess, that's one. B, they must be new to MK 11 because there's already been characters shown and in the beta who can clearly zone, play keep away. And C. Just because a character can zone or play a solid distant game well doesn't mean =OMG Injustice 2 again!!

Have to be honest, most of this bitching are coming from casuals, scrubs and people who don't know MK lore otherwise they'd know WHY she has so many powers, abilities etc. All I'm going to say.

Speaking as a massive Sindel fan, obviously, this is just a dumb thing to say. It's also dumb to act like she's stealing a slot from Rain or whoever else.

NRS decided they wanted to introduce a new Elder God, so they did. That's a story concern. There's no other character you would sub in there. If she has any 'stolen' moves it's because those characters weren't planned for this game at any point.

And less and less about the Tobias concept...

Tobias designed the MK3, MK4, and MK: Mythologies characters, so I don't know what you're trying to argue here. MK3 moved much harder into more of a sci-fi realm, and MK4 and MK: Mythologies were all about Elder God characters a lot like Cetrion.

Admittedly, I do have a pretty solid background regarding MK lore, tho. Could be what's contributing to my positive reception of Cetrion.

1. her design doesn't tell us anything about her personality. She has the typical superhero design where all you get from looking at her is her movelist. Not anything about who she is. That's why people say it's bland.

2. she doesn't look like she has anything to do with Mortality or Kombat. Raiden and Shinnok are gods, yet they both still have to wear armor to protect themselves. Meanwhile this chick looks like Superman at a Batman's Rogue's Gallery convention. Way above everybody else's paygrade and wildly out of place.

But I'm pretty sure I'm still right on majority of crying about it lol they think "NRS game, Injustice again" lol I mean ya gotta admit those who just think she's poison ivy obviously don't know much about the MK lore, I mean we can all agree Cetrion would demolish Ivy lol.

But I'm glad you like her, I'm just kind of tired of seeing so many comments on her vids out there about "Omg she's too Injustice like, should be in that game" like it's not like a she's a new character or a Elder God or anything lol

I think a good superhero design does have personality, honestly, but that's a side point.

I don't actually agree with the 'she looks Injustice' argument outside of her moveset, because I don't think she has a superhero-y design at all, but I think what makes her potentially feel out of place is that she has a fantasy design. And a Western fantasy design, specifically, whereas most of the fantasy characters in MK have a more Eastern aesthetic. Cetrion looks like she could be from a Dragon Age game, you know? There's definitely a distinct aesthetic to her, but I wouldn't call it a superhero aesthetic.

But I actually think her visual design tells us a lot about her, and has a lot of distinctive features -- the seaweed hair is really cool and different, imo, and the weird rock halo thing that floats behind her is a unique detail. Overall it's an evocative Mother Earth design. I'm interested to see what her other skins look like, because she could have some really crazy ones.

And I don't think she's any more out of place than Ermac, in terms of not being a hand-to-hand fighter and instead being a more mystical magical wizard person.

As in if people knew she was an Elder God for like a few months now since the leaks they'd know she's not just a "omg a Injustice look a like that's OP too many powers wah wah" she's a new character so if anything one can argue you don't know, lol judging by her looks which to a comic fan naturally would think "looks like poison ivy" because ivy is totally bend every element and has insane power levels to grow as large as they want to destroy a planet? hmmm? Also, as I mentioned earlier we already have zoners so by I guess what this newer NRS generation of casuals complaining then Kabal, Jade and Skarlet would be too "injustice-y" too? Because they all have a solid zone, far game from what we've seen and played from the beta?

I'm also just so you know since I take it you missed it in my bio, a HUGE Fujin fan and one of the sites biggest Fujin fanatics, I noticed you're new here but I've been here forever, literally wanted Fujin since MK 9. I want Fujin and hope he gets in but at the same time, how is she a random Elder God when we've seen at least one female as an Elder God in the past speak to Raiden as well as the comics?

New to TYM? Sure and what’s it matter? I’ve played MK forever and loved the 3D era. I’ve always enjoyed reading TYM and decided to join up and express some opinions. I’m not even sure why we are arguing. IMO and others despite the possible dummy votes (they could be real also) she seems out of place. The slot could have been used for a Fujin. I’d love to have Fujin in the game. Or another MK legacy character with a more MK feel. But that’s the dev decision and it’ll be what it is.
