Cetrion - Too Much "Injustice"? Yes or No?

fuck yeah, totally agreed .... dude, I could pay 20 bucks for a werewolf type character DLC in a MK game !

Hell to the yeah!! lol. I'm sure sooner or later they'll do it or even better to stand out from other WW characters like Sabrewolf in KI, have different variations where one style is more human with super human strength, speed etc and another where he's full blown Werewolf and perhaps another where he can be both, where he has a move that can morph him into a WW albeit temporarily as a buff move.

She's a goddess of life so she has to wear leaves and rocks and stuff for clothes? Raiden's a god of thunder, but he's not wearing clothes with lightning bolts all over, or wearing gloves/boots made solely of electricity. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it believed that Shinnok is/was a god of death? Despite that, he traditionally doesn't wear a bunch of skulls and bones as his outfit (I'm aware of his silly skelly hands in X though).

I just think she looks very basic and boring. Very stereotypical goddess of life/elements, at least in her trailer costume. That's just my opinion though, and I'm happy for those that like the design.

New to TYM? Sure and what’s it matter? I’ve played MK forever and loved the 3D era. I’ve always enjoyed reading TYM and decided to join up and express some opinions. I’m not even sure why we are arguing. IMO and others despite the possible dummy votes (they could be real also) she seems out of place. The slot could have been used for a Fujin. I’d love to have Fujin in the game. Or another MK legacy character with a more MK feel. But that’s the dev decision and it’ll be what it is.

I pointed that out since you mentioned Fujin and the MK lore thing, a lot of people on here want Fujin(me being one of them if not first in line) and often lots discuss the lore as well. Ahh so you grew up during the 3D era. Ok, cool. I'm an oldschool MK fan, been around since MK 1 and before and yes even stuck with it during the 3D era where they struggled a bit but never gave up on MK. But anyway, I don't see us arguing merely telling you more about myself since I do agree about Fujin. All I want in MK 11 at this point is Fujin and Ermac man. I mean I have a feeling one of them won't make it but I still have hope.

That's fine, I mean Cetrion as long as the character new is cool, story relevant and receieved well unlike say Jaqcui(talk about a wasted slow I feel the same way but for me it's her not Cetrion) the way I see it, we have Jax already, and we have Cassie so I was kind of like ok do we have to have the Jax and Cage family back...again? But thats my opinion. I'd much prefer Ermac and Fujin or Fujin and Smoke or Fujin and Sindel over Jax, Jacqui or Sonya. Unfortunately some classics get sacrificed for others though. Hopefully the Kollector will be worth it. Yep, hopefully they'll at least put in Fujin for us since I don't think we will be getting Rain, Nightwolf, Sindel, Havik and Smoke like a lot of people want as well.

respect for your opinion .... IMO, Gods and Elder Gods in MK universe, in the end, can choose and pick up whatever design look they wish or desire to appear in front of humans ..... maybe Cetrion enjoys to retort her associated elemental powers into her physical look, as part of her ego persona , who knows ?

I don't think "Injustice" is being used as a slur, but instead as a synonym for "superhero-y". And this isn't anything new. People have been saying this stuff since Geras was released. The same was also said about Kitana's costume when she was shown in the menu, and it's been said a hundred more times regarding just about every character.

Capt Planet’s love child. I need to see final product to say she’s a bad design but some of the reveal reminded me of injustice. Her fatal makes her look way to powerful to even entertain fighting any of the other characters. That was my biggest problem but I’ll admit it’s not that big of a deal.

Her fatality is a lot like an Injustice supermove, especially since Jade doesn't look visibly gored until she gets blown up at the end. She also looks like Poison Ivy and has one of Firestorm's moves. Though, I wouldn't say it's "too much."

I don't actually agree with the 'she looks Injustice' argument outside of her moveset, because I don't think she has a superhero-y design at all, but I think what makes her potentially feel out of place is that she has a fantasy design. And a Western fantasy design, specifically, whereas most of the fantasy characters in MK have a more Eastern aesthetic. Cetrion looks like she could be from a Dragon Age game, you know? There's definitely a distinct aesthetic to her, but I wouldn't call it a superhero aesthetic.

Interesting and cogent point. My second thought during the trailer (first thought--admittedly--was of Swamp Thing's Abigail's garden trait) was that her voice acting immediately made me think of Cate Blanchett's Galadriel in Lord of the Rings. And her look and moveset kind of matches that vibe.

I don't think that's a bad thing, it's just a different vibe than we've seen in MK before. Still fits in with the whole fantasy violence theme just fine. I also never got a superhero vibe from her.

Just shows that the MK designers are branching out for inspiration. And Cetrion isn't the only one with that vibe. I can't seriously be the only person to watch the Noob Saibot trailer and immediately think, "Ok, they turned him into a Nazgul..."

The problem sometimes with the internet and forums, and a big reason why top players don’t come around here anymore, is because people with no experience get to voice their opinion with the same weight as people that know the subject inside and out.

If you look at Raiden, he’s on the exact same level in this same with his moves.

You know why it reminds you of injustice? Because DC superheroes for the most part are just Gods, it’s Injustice: Gods Among Us.

We are way past the days where it’s okay for GODS like Raiden and Fujin and Shinnok to be designed around mortal limitation visually and mechanically.

If I’m picking a GOD in a fighting game I better be able to feel the otherworldly power every time I do a special move.

Agreed, plus honestly regarding what Law Hero said. Technically, Raiden did "wear" lightning in a way with MK 1 was dancing around him the entire time.

Many thought the same of Jacqui and not only did NRS bring her back, but they're overcompensating for it hard by having her steal the spotlight from Kotal in his own trailer and claiming she's one of the big MKX fan favorites at a big panel presentation as they show off a story mode clip of her. In that regard, Cetrion will receive red carpet treatment for MK12 if people don't take kindly to her (which is not likely -- I see mostly positive impressions). Not that that's inherently bad; it's admirable that NRS give themselves a second chance to improve on work, rather than abandoning it completely.
