Question - Hollywood Cassie nerfs

Really NRS, a day and a half before a major you pull this shit?

A list of documented and undocumented nerfs, forcing only one character to relearn both their bnb and their playstyle from scratch?

On a character without any competitive tournament wins?

Nerf list:
- f34 causes splat knockdown, no longer special cancellable
- f34 is -8 on block
- b124 is now neutral on block

In simple terms:
- complete overhaul of Cassie's corner combos in Hollywood
- f34 is now completely useless as a string in all regards, there is no reason to use it as it has the same frame data as f33 which hits overhead, low
- Cassie no longer gets a d3 check after b124.

In terms of combos, I'm in the process of updating the combo thread. We've managed to crack 40% again off all her starters in the corner.

Nerf her all they fucking want, but the timing is a slap in the face to people who travel to events

i play brawler cassie and sorry but it's a normal nerf, u could make twice in a combo 2 button combo F3,4 that 1 make already 18% it's not normal, that's why hollywood damage nerfed from 50% to 33% meterless midscreen. U cry about 34% midscreen meterless ? and cassie is not only one who took damage nerf, and u don't need relearn cassie just because u can't nut cracker after F3,4

The timing was relatively... awful. Usually big changes happen right in dryspells but not literally 48 hours before. After all I guarantee you, someone was on a flight during the patch release. Gets there tomorrow and has less than 24 hours to relearn what they put months into. But hey Kung Jin still gets 1 bar 40% midscreen.

See, I don't get why people are putting words into our mouths.

The general agreement was that she was likely going to get some nerfs (thank god spec ops and B1 survived), and we also identified f34 as one of the likelier targets. What we, and most rational people, would have expected is a sensible nerf that fits in line with how the character plays, similar to how TG Raiden had his damage nerfed but kept his tools. We were okay with a damage nerf on f34 and/or a change in frames there. We were not expecting that one of the variant-specific perks got killed without anything in return in a way that doesn't benefit anyone at all. You don't want 50% combos? Nerf it down to 44-46ish with ex nutcracker with F34 still in play. Not remove f34 and force everyone to relearn bnbs.

I get that you feel vindicated that Hollywood has been normalised to be more in line with Brawler, but please.

Please tell me her current 34% midscreen meterless, and her previous 50% midscreen meterless.

Yes, you do need to relearn Cassie because every single one of her optimised corner combos had f34 in it. Now all her previous combos are not only less damaging, but completely impossible.

To be fair he didn't once complain about the actual nerfs. He just complained about the timing of them and that some were undocumented.

Yep, f34 string was literally in every corner combo i used. Less damage - makes sense to me and only fair to be honest.
-8 on block - i'm still ok with.
However, completely removing this string is an overkill and that's what they basically did.

On the brighter side, i played 7 ranked matches or so yesterday and the netcode seems good to me

yeah this actually surprised me. I intentionally did not learn spec ops because I was positive it would be nerfed, Hollywood in general seemed like a safer variation to invest in. but for some reason, NRS looked at cassie, her hard-to-blockables, her tracking missile that's deals chip on block, and her 70%+ reset and figured ehhh fuck it, lets take her corner damage away in Hollywood. so looks like im maining a new variation now

A damage nerf is different than losing the ability to do bnb's because they literally take a unique string away from the variation. If you actually read the forum we don't care about losing the damage, it is more about losing a unique aspect of the character when damage just could have been scaled. It was a really bad way to go about adjusting damage IMO.

Their official stance is that f34 was always supposed to splat and letting it cancel into specials was a bug that had to be fixed. I would assume this could have been caught in the development cycle unless no one at NRS ever did a combo with f34........

We weren't born yesterday just call it what it is...f34 was completely nuked

Yeah when it comes down to it the Hollywood variation just feels more generic now with stuff you can do across all variations + 21u4 mixed in. I think people would have been fine with adjusted damage scaling, but they killed part of the character for me by basically taking a unique string in a variation that is heavily used and making it useless.
