RYX
BIG PUSHER
As much as I'd really like to include nonplayable characters like No Face and Tasia, I'm gonna stick to people who have only been playable in few iterations of the franchise. I'm also not including anyone from MKX because I think they'll reappear in later games. I think it's a downright injustice for all of these characters not to receive the love that is NRS' beautiful redesigns
I think most if not all of these characters deserve a chance to win the hearts of the fans properly, with my personal exceptions being Taven and Daegon because they're really only related to Armageddon and I hated that plot.
My picks are, in order:
Bo Rai Cho - I think we really need this guy to show up again. Everyone remembers him less for the fact that he's a jolly wiseman and more as the guy who puked on everybody and farted a lot.
Chameleon - He's my favorite character, I can't lie. As a pro and a con, he's almost a blank template in what he can be able to do and the fanboy in me hopes that he becomes a dude with a high power level compared to everyone else. Being so badass that Shao Kahn keeps you hidden has to account for something. There's some issue with his outfit too, I think; it's hard to make a guy rainbow colored and not incredibly gaudy
Drahmin - This guy along with Moloch is so perfect for the MK universe it makes me cry that Ed Boon won't let him return. They're basically the ultimate forces of demon-based murderporn, and a dude who was tortured into insanity and wears a fucking club for his arm is cool.
Frost - She should be the successor to Sub-Zero, if we're going with the whole passing the torch thing that the Clone Squad is offering, why not give her the same treatment? Differentiate her from her mentor with a different gameplay style and personality (which she already has) and I think she'll pick up popularity pretty quickly.
Havik - This guy is a necessity in the future installments. He's the ultimate wild card in the series; pulling the strings from the background and being generally unpredictable. He also wigged me the fuck out with how he broke his own body for his special moves, and it would look astoundingly awesome translated into the new generation. He's even shown up in the comics and is currently a big player in the grand scheme of things.
Hotaru - I feel like he needs to reappear as well, as sort of a 'damage control' to Havik's unwatched mayhem. I don't know what else to say about the guy other than he has exoskeleton armor, he really hasn't gotten a lot of attention.
Hsu Hao - This guy's pretty much the ultimate jobber in MK, even below Baraka who's also dead. I don't know, I just always had this gut feeling that the dude should've been MK's premier grappler, and I still don't think we've had anyone who focused entirely on command grabs. And no, Commando Kano doesn't cut it.
Mavado - Kabal's legacy.
Moloch - Dude carries a giant fucking wrecking ball with him. I want him back. What makes me even sadder is that him and Meat are the only guys who've never had a unique finishing move. That's just not right.
Nitara - She's actually a pretty neat concept and an expansion to the realms Outworld has conquered. She also serve as a decent neutral character on top of giving Reptile a little more story to feel good about while Ed Boon picks his nose with the lizard's fingers. I think the winged concept wasn't taken advantage of properly and she'd have a potentially interesting dynamic with Skarlet.
Skarlet - This character was just amazing in MK9. I loved her moveset, I loved the backstory to her even if it was simple. She's so badass that Shao Kahn actually keeps her chained up in his Coliseum. But we know almost nothing about her. We have no clue of her personality outside of being a ruthless warrior in combat, we don't know her ambitions outside of wanting to learn blood magik for unknown reasons, and we have no idea where she stands with other characters in the series. It would just be a waste of one of the coolest recent creations in the series for her not to reappear.
What do you guys think? Agree/Disagree with any of my personal favorites? Have someone of your own you want to see again?
