So I've been In the lab and I found some pretty nice tech. On any map with a background that you can hit the opponent you can do
D1,background, b3,ji3,f2,3,d4,fireball for 37% meter less. Or d4, background, b3, ji3,f2,3,ax for 36%

I'm def going to add this to my gameplay because it's literally amazing

d1d4 j2 b23 3~interactable b3 b13 is also a nice one
You can add mb teleport to get near interactable as i mentioned in other thread.
There are alot of differrent interactable combos.
Ive found alot new on metropolis thanks to forever king jr :p

For what it's worth he opened my idea to using background interact-ables, any percentage on the damage on that combo ?

i'm sorry if this is already known to ares players...but i was messing around with him and noticed you can combo 112 mb teleport behind 112 over and over until you run out of meter. i thought this was intresting, while my ares is terrible.. i thought this was an intresting way to be flashy. Hopefully this may be something more useful than impractical

It was known and there are different opinions on this board, mine being that there are better ways to spend a bar, but we appreciate you trying to collaborate

Yup, we know about this...It was shown on the NRS stream and you could get 50+% from all 4 bars lol.

I'm not sure but I think if you walk back after a background bounce you can get an ambiguous cross-up setup(I've done it by accident during matches). I'll have to look into this when I get on.

I'm pretty sure ending in 3~interactaable(ending the combo after the bounce for a set up) gives the same damage as ending in 3d2 and following up with b3, b13 or b3, f3 does 7% or 8% more. The same combo works with b1, 112, 22, and b1 as starters as well

So I have some questions about Ares' trait:
1) Does anyone use upward Axe for combos? Can it be used?
2) Does anyone ever use downward Axe or Sword?
3) Is there a more reliable way to down downward Axe and Sword other then pressing 4u, which never seems to work, and 4bu, which also never seems to work?

I am really into learning this character.

In some cases it can be good to end with upward axe for setups, but keep in mind the axe scales alot on damage in combos just like d2.
Sometimes i use the upsword in the corner but midscreen its kinda uslesess. There arent any combos that do high damage that end in upsword, otherwise you give up to much damage.

Cool, Ares seems like a beast in the right hands, but looks much harder than the rest of the cast. I have been trying to get 100 wins with every character in the game, and also to find out who I truly want to main after 6 months. Right now it is down to Raven and Ares. I think I will be putting a ton of lab time in with him in the next couple of weeks. Any tips for a starting Ares player with a good hold on Injustice fundementals?

Watch some gameplay videos of ares, that helped me the most. Also check out all inflames videos, they are awesome.

I use f2, upward axe in the corner as a low mix-up with f23 (overhead) but only when I don't have sword trait. I think the same can be done with 3, upward axe and 3d2.

One more question: what is the best time to use b23 as opposed to f23, feels like f23 is better.

I'm not really good with Ares so don't take my post seriously. but b23's overhead is on the first hit and f23's overhead is on the 2nd hit so they are two completely different strings. People like to block low to avoid Ares' d1 so that is where b23 comes in, but b23 is so slow so it shouldn't be used often. I like to use it while I'm invisible so the b2 is harder to react to. You can also use it after MB tele (can be interrupted) or after knockdown setups such as in the corner. ie. corner combos ending with teleport putting yourself in the corner, then b23.

Unless you are talking about whether to use b23 or f23 in combos, then it depends on which side you want to be on and what combos you use.

Down axe scales combos harder than d2. The most you can get is around 20%.

Up axe is useless. Up sword can be used with d2, u4 for a standing reset that leaves you at around 10-15+ of advantage depending on the height.

A trick I use for u4 is inputting du4. It seems to work most of the time. b4u is the only way to input the axe outside of strings.

b23 and f23 all depend on which side you want the opponent to be.

:d:u4 is a really great way of using it.. Didn't think of that.

Using that same principles I actually found that you kan do the overhead Axe by doing :d:qtl:l:u4...

Edit: Fixed

While we're on the subject, does anyone noticed a difference using Ares trait between mk and alternate controls? I feel like it acts differently, but I'm not sure how specifically and it could easily be something I'm just imagining or related to me being more careful about what I press when I switch controls
