The difference is that they're listening to us now, so if we get a shitty game as a result of them paying too much attention then it's on us.
Yeah, I gueeeeeess they seem to be? It seems like it, but at the same time, we're a miniscule vocal minority. The vast majority of people who've purchased this game will never even consider going to a tournament. While we may be the people who are playing the game at the highest level and truly breaking it down, at some point I imagine that NRS will just do whatever it is they want. What if we're still complaining about some broken stuff after the final DLC character? Will they keep patching? That just might be it, like MK9.

I hope that the community has more influence now though, agree with you. I hope they continue to support the game like Capcom has done with SF4. It's good to build loyalty and the NRS brand.

Where art thou, MKX Skarlet?
Scorpion nerfs were huge, i wouldn't say that entirely.
As was some things towards harley quinns nerfs.
You mean there are exceptions? Rules never have those.

NRS patches the game every time DLC comes and sometimes also in hotfixes.

So the reality is, NRS patches their NEW GAME fairly often to fix shit they missed and things that people are doing that weren't intended (IN THEIR OPINION).

Who's to say they won't continue to do hotfixes after the last DLC? Even if they don't, everyone who makes these threads must know by now that this is how NRS does things.

So my question to you is, should the title of this thread really be "I don't like that NRS doesn't patch the way SFIV does"? One thing is for sure - NRS isn't going to change their internal process based on a few people on a website forum.

So why does this thread exist? What's the underlying goal here?

"Your last paragraph. You are beyond dumb.

Fuck off with changing exploits. MUs would still be lopsided as fuck which is my entire point. I hate 13ers."

Actually, RYX, I don't remember you trying to make a point at all to my first post. Just some half-witted snarky remark about one part of a sentence. But I guess that's the internet for you; can't make a decent rebuttal, must resort to name calling... What's the saying? "Better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove everyone right"? Words to live by my friend.

Side note, what the hell is a 13er? Are you making fun of me because I was born in the 80's? Because your avatar looks like a my little pony. Which means you're either an ironic hipster, a little girl, or some creepy old guy.

half-witted snarky remark, ends about comment on pony picture. yeah ok

My point was pretty simple, really; changing the things you mentioned in your post would fix the game's fundamental flaws but would not balance the differences between characters(i.e the plethora of 7-3s and a handful of 8-2s.) Of course they're welcome changes but to be frank I'd rather see the characters being able to compete, where you made it sound like you didn't want that because it would ruin the image of Superman being "super." (In regards to the Superman Joker comparison.)

I could have been nicer though, and for that I apologize.

No worries. I don't take things personally; just like to give some ribbings now and again. And yes mine was funnier than yours ;)

I just wish they'd listen less to people screaming for nerfs and more to the general consensus on characters who are underpowered.

Lobo, Bane, and to a lesser extent Lex could all use some love, but people don't bitch as loudly.

They haven't really listened to anybody screaming for nerfs. Most of these have been general fixes to what they intended. I think this patch is from gathered community opinions.

I agree with the buffing part though, that's all I want.

Deathstroke and Scorpion would disagree.

Sheeva isn't Goro's wife. Goro is her husband.
They seem to make changes based on complaints made by a high number of people from different player bases. A lot of people complain about one character, and therefore they get a nerf. When a lot of people complain about one character being too weak, they get a buff.

Since it's rare for the latter to occur, it explains why most patches have resulted in nerfs rather than buffs. Bane only got a buff because everyone was laughing at his ridiculous level 3 cooldown and overall venom design.

They make buffs/nerfs for balance reasons, but those have been very small and gradual. Sinestro is probably the only exception to this rule so far. Outside of the widespread complaints, Bane hasn't gotten that much and neither has Lobo. Joker's trait is getting a buff now for that same reason.

I know everyone gets kinda uppity with how NRS handles some patches, but I actually feel they're doing a better job than any company and really all they need is more experience. In the OP it mentions UMvC3 and I could go on a huge rant on how badly that game needs like a million fixes and how over buffed a lot of characters and mechanics are (TAC infinites, easy universal TODs, ambiguous incoming...which is fuckin retarded on soo many levels in conjunction with the previous thing, unblockable incomings, morridoom, vergil, zero, etc...)

Gamers embrace the "adapt" mentality which is a mature way to think and be a better player, but when it comes to balances, always buffing is NOT the right answer. Characters should always retain a scope of their strengths and weakness, when new tech arrives it should be judged ultimately with 2 questions "Does this take the character away from its intended style and is this good?" and "Does this make the game play deeper?" The last ones a major one, when characters are over buffed or dependent on only a few parts of their arsenal, the gameplay gets shallower because options have just become invalidated on both players.

Hilde in SC4 was not patched, she basically had multiple set ups into a TOD ringout that had positive on block starters, one of which basically acted like full invincibility/evade that caught all movement too. Because of this Hildes pretty much relied only on this and a few GTFO pokes to keep pressure off. The opponents on the other hand had to respect this to such a degree nearly their entire movelist was invalidated and required several correct guess off quick/safe low reward attacks in fear of being counter hit. Game play became shallow and simply because she never one a major people felt she was acceptable...if you watched how she lost it was painful and tedious.

I think NRS is doing a much better job this round than MK. Changes shouldn't always be made on who wins, sometimes that's defined by a player or a good counter pick. We've seen plenty of derp out match ups that can weed out good players while other become unaffected.

lol i don't think that patching quick enough. KF having a safe slide keeps me up at night, and how after being "normalized" does superman not seem any different. I don't think it should be crazy frequent, but they should keep patching until I see Bane, Shazam, and other low tier chars make it to top 8 (IDK if Shazam is low tier cuz no one uses him)
