I hated the idea of mk x coming out. I love playing injustice. Then I saw the new characters, and made me more hype for this game then most of the people here. I will be gutted if we don't see a female ninja of some sorts but this game looks way to hype to worry about past characters.
Cannot wait to see more new ideas.

Mortal
To be honest I'm not really worried as to how the new characters will play(all 14 of em). What I'm worried is the look of the characters and so far they are good(4 new ones and here's hoping Cassie gets a better face) still I feel bad if the rumor that only 8 MK9 characters are returning(my fav is already in ,SubZero, so it ain't that bad, but still) because I liked them all.

Now here's where I think NRS have an advantage over most fighting games(including themselves back in the day) they can now introduce these new characters and make em kool through their awesome story mode. It's simple, just nail the gameplay(which imo looks like they nailed it perfectly) and make em look kool and that's it, the story can fix their attitudes, evil/good or just add some backstory that wasn't possible in the old days of the 90s and even the 3D days.

An example of this imo was Striker and Kabal, prior to MK9 I hated these characters. Mostly because I felt they were boring and held no importance in the MK story line and then MK9 story mode happened and now I feel differently about them. Again the story mode can make a character better, that's another reason I don't mind them bring back some of the 3D characters(although I hated most because of their designs and backstory) now they can re do them and make em kooler through their story mode.

It was pretty obvious what NRS was doing when it killed off so many in MK9.

I'm worried about Noob not being in it, but if he's not, I think there's a pretty good shot that either Sektor, Baraka, Reptile, or Quan Chi will make it in. I'll be okay with that.

I gotta give NRS credit, they never play it safe. They experiment and nuke a third of the cast if they want to, fuck it. You'd never see Capcom pull anything close to a SFIII again. The new character designs look pretty cool (I like how much they dance around how Ferra is clearly a child, though I'm sure she won't be getting Fatality'd).
Maybe Ferra is an otherworldly dwarf?
Yeah, only Torr gets savagely murdered in Fatalities.

Where have you been over the last 20 years? At least half of the MK's have sucked. Sorry, but facts is facts.
Excuse me, sir, but I think you are getting "facts" mixed up with "personal preference".

I remember when I saw sheeva for the first time back in the day, I thought it was the coolest fuckin thing in the world.

I hope they can make me feel the way I felt when I saw the MK3 characters. They were all super awesome, and I just couldn't get enough.

I feel that way about D'avorah and Ferra/Torr. Kotal feels like a boss character to me, but he looks pretty sweet. And my least favorite out of them is Cassie. Her costume and look feel very stock to me.

Still can't wait to see more though.

My mind would blow off it's fuckin neck hole if Motaro was in, or some variation of that species.

That's pretty much the problem with fighting games. You want to make the story move forward and kill characters and introduce new ones, but if you do too much of that you'll likely end up alienating the hardcore tournament crowd because if it's not the same characters over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again they get pissy.

Before Armageddon came out, Boon was talking about bringing in mostly new characters in the next game. But they decided to do MKvsDC instead and then afterwards MK9 which was a reboot of the first three MK games so of course that was gonna feature mainly characters from that timeline.

This is the example of how people think quantity trumps quality. There's a difference between a good roster and jamming just about every damn character you've ever made into a game. Armageddon for instance. The gameplay suffered because of the immense amount of characters, most notably in the fatality category.

I shouldn't expect the average the person to realize this, but whenever a fighting game that has a huge roster(not counting games with updated versions), the majority of the characters were just recycled/ported over from past games. Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter X Tekken.

I don't actually play these games

Those are the same type of people that think Motar Kombat should be standard in every game.

Besides being businessmen... They're ultimately artists. A lot of artists want to evolve and expand in whatever their forum is. It's like a band that releases a killer debut album and then decides to evolve their sound with the next album and it ends up killing as well. But some people are always going to want that band to keep re-releasing that debut album over and over. That doesn't satisfy a lot of artists.

I see a lot of that from people when it comes to MKX. They want the debut album again, not a new one. I think some of you guys that didn't like 3d MK and only want characters from UMK3 and before are high. It must be pure nostalgia at play. To say nearly all characters from MK4 on were "bland" or "unoriginal" seems baseless.

At WORST, characters like Havik, Kenshi, Hotaru, Quan Chi, Reiko, Drahmin, Shujinko, etc... are no less dynamic in design as old school characters like Jax, Nightwolf, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Sonya, Kung Lao, etc. (which are all characters I like as well)

Personally, I think a lot of the post-UMK3 characters are some of the most bad-ass character designs in the entire series. I'm fully supporting the large number of new characters coming in MKX. I expect some fucking sick designs.

I've been seeing a ton of hate, doubt, disliking for the fact that probably about half of the Mortal Kombat X cast are going to be brand new characters introduced to the series.

It's a bit scary, I understand, but Boon never fails to deliver.

A point I brought in earlier is that our favorite MK veteran characters were at one point new characters themselves.
We should give the newbies a chance and I'm pretty sure we're going to end up liking them or at least accepting them into the series.

Boon himself stated that a large number of Kombatants are going to be new, but I have faith in the game.
Sure, I wanted to see Nitara and Kira, but I'm pretty sure MKX is going to turn out fine.

Who knows, we might fall in love with one of the newer ones in place of our current favs

Let's not forget about DLC possibilities.
(the rumor goes 16 veterans and 14 new ones are going to make up the roster of 30)
perhaps a large majority of the DLC will be some our favorites who didn't make the original cut!!

Just trying to keep people positive!
Imo he failed from mkda - mk vs dc. But that's only my opinion. I did play these games but never took them serious because how broken the game's were. Also I was in a serious relationship and didn't play as much as I use to :p.
I am remaining open minded to the new characters but I don't like change so I am worried somewhat. Outside of that I feel nrs can make mkx good and I will buy this on launch and try the new characters after I play with my beloved sub zero heh

As I have stated on many posts on the forum's I can accept the new characters because I felt mk9 was a step back to the classics but I am concerned about the special move inputs changing. I don't want to learn get over here for the tenth time in the past 3 yrs.
I sed this before and I will say this again if capcom changed the hadoken motion in any street fighter capcom community would go nuts.

Still I am open minded and looking foward to the new game

too smart to play MKX

There's no good result on google image search when I type in "net code" but point made. Honestly though I was being nice because MK9 is the only title in the series I considered remotely playable as a fighting game. But they were all good I'M WASTED WITH FRIENDS games.

But really I'm super excited about having a 45%ish new roster. I like the MK9 cast but CSZ and Skarlet as the only new characters out of the whole roster really bummed me out a little. All the characters are cool enough but Jesus nippletweaking Christ, I am barely older than Johnny Cage, Raiden, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero and Scorpion. And that's just if you go by their release date. If you go by inception they're probably all 1-2 years older than I am. Shit.

Turn the page for fucksakes.

I loved the roster of MK9. I was able to play all my old faves. When I saw the reveal of the 4 new characters none of them really stood out as an "OMG I want to main that character!" I still have hope that some of the other new ones will give me that feeling.

As much as I want Ermac to make a return I would be equally happy if a new character design blew me away to the point that I don't miss any of my old faves.

No matter what the roster looks like I will still get it and enjoy it thoroughly. Only time will tell. SO HYPE!

I guess if Midway going bankrupt over it is personal preference?
Midway went bankrupt because of mismanagement and shit decisions like TNA backyard wrestling. A single game by a single studio cannot support an entirely publishing house, certainly not one whose roots were in arcades and pinball.

By the numbers, MK4 is the least well received mk game, which you can probably blame on the technical inferiority of the original playstation and the buggy dreamcast release of gold. MKDA-MKA were all TREMENDOUSLY successful.

Hell, I'd be perfectly fine if they decided to never include any single character in consecutive games, and space them out instead.

Would give my character specific salt time to level out.

Smoke mains, I'm not saying we need to break up, but I think we need to take some time off...

What's the point of a random Krypt?
Thinking about it, when you consider there will be DLC characters, it makes sense not to bring that many classic characters back from start. I'm sure that there would be more people buying Kitana or Kung Lao than there might be with new characters, right?

Accept the new cast, accept that Kia, Jataaka, Tremor, Firegod might debut in this game.

I never felt alienated at all with new characters, ever mk game got new characters and didn't bother me.

Hell, kenshi was really nice in mkda, and ashrah was my favourite mkd design.

In mk4 i felt wheird at the first time i saw the select screen, but you know what? When i got to play it didn't bother me.

As Mr. Mileena said, everyone that we deeply love so much was new at some point in the game, just look at skarlet, i ended up maining her.

Ermac better be in it , but since that concept art circulating around the internet of that character looking like Scarecrow with sould around confirms he's in. And Reptile also, I should have mained him in MK9.
