the storyline starts where mk9 left off, so it's completely possible. That is, in case they get ressurected or get mentioned in flashbacks
Yes true. I totally possibly see mentions of past characters within the story mode and even scenes with them and possibly their deaths and romantic unions to set the stage for the new offspring characters. I also feel strongly that they may also have a small section or chapter on Hanzo Hasashi and his clan and the leading up to the clan genocide. Hanzo hasashi may even be one of the new playable characters since technically as a human ninja he would not like play like Scorpion or even look like Scorpion. However i do expect to see in full glory and force if not all of the Gods and magic/sorcerers return intact but stronger, like Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Sindel, Noob Saibot even Raiden.

I also expect to see Reptile and Baraka and Sheeva or a reptilian, Tarkatan replacement since they are not human they may fall under the category of beings with longer life spans, no hybrid offsprings with them.

The robots are forever lol. I expect to see Cyrax, Sektor, Cyber Sub-Zero and even Cyber Smoke (yes they finally catch him lol).

Mileena will probably be another clone. Even Reptile may be a clone since his race in MK9 was under extinction.

P.S Hurr durr Ferra-Torr is one of the new hybrid replacement characters. I never stated at any point or in any comment that the new hybrid characters are iconic. I guess you suffer from selective reading. BTW, a new hybrid character cannot be iconic. Hurr durr durr.
Zzzzz

You're completely missing his point.

Original characters I expect to see in MKX making a full return:

Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Raiden
Mileena (genetic clone)
Reptile
Shang Tsung
Quan Chi
Cyrax
Sektor
Sindel
Noob Saibot
Ermac
Baraka
Sheeva
Liu Kang (possibly as a lower level god, a human-dragon hybrid or resurrected zombie)

New hybrid characters I expect to see in MKX:

Lutano = Kitana/Liu Kang offspring.
Puff = Smoke/Sindel offspring
Sum Dum Lao = Kung Lao/Jade offspring
Craps = Jax/Tanya offspring
General Broken = Kabal/Skarlet offspring
Bullshi = Kenshi offspring
Slush = Sub-Zero offspring
Toasty = Scorpion offspring

Honetsly, if they keep the iconic core characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile-(any reptilian being) , Ermac, Raiden, Shao Kahn, Noob Saibot, Mileena-(any clone), Baraka-(any Tarkatan), Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Goro, Sheeva and Liu Kang-(any resurrected/zombie form), Sektor and Cyrax then the game will survive and do well.

All the other characters like Jax, Sonya, Cage, Nightwolf, Kitana are all expendable really.
Huh? If anything I'd say Kitana (who I believe is way more popular than Mileena, but the sisters together are pretty iconic), Jax, Sonya and Cage are more iconic than Ermac, Noob or Quan Chi.

But the problem with keeping Kitana is the timeline issue since she's human. If they keep her in the game she'll be like 60 years old with moderate to severe arthritis among other physical ailments due to the years of combat abuse.

I just hope they install Tag Team gameplay options again. That was the only good thing that MK9 really had.

Um, she's over 10,000 years old.

You may want to research Edenians.

Dude, what? Kitana is Edenian, not human. When introduced in MK2 originally she was given an age of 10,000 years old.

Also Ed stated the game STARTS right where MK9 left off and takes place over the following 20 years. So even if she was human, she'd be like 20 or 30 at the start and 40 / 50 at the end.

Oh ok, then never mind what i said about Kitana. Then maybe she'll be in the game full strength again.

send me the link to the site you just researched it from.
"Just researched"?

LOL

I've been an avid Kitana fan since MK2 first released, in which the game itself TELLS YOU how old she is. Holy shit.

Um, no, its not irrelevant. If enough people would rather the old cast and end up not buying the game because of it, Boon will have made a mistake. There's nothing wrong with customers voicing their opinion on what they want in a product, and customer feedback is rarely irrelevant.
That wont happen though because most people arent attached to the characters, they just like the gore and fatalities.

Plus like I said, as long as they have scorp and sub most of the fanbase will be happy.

I read stuff carefully unless explictly stated otherwise :p
Well, not really. Anyways.

I just don't understand your implication that "iconic (whatever that means to you) = must make it into MKX". I mean, why? Sure, they are generally liked by many and creators try to keep those characters around, but they played that drama card of killing them off, and such turnarounds come at a price unless death is extremely cheap in your 'verse. Which Boon suggested isn't going to be the case this time around.

Well with a game like MK that has x-rays that basically are fatalities that your opponent recovers from and keeps on fighting, that says a lot about how NRS understands the meaning of character death. lol

Well, since it's not real world, character deaths have little to do with medical assessment of damage being shown :p
Seriously though, it's mostly about Boon stating somewhere that they aren't going to be too much into resurrecting dead characters. Although I expect them to pull it off on someone. We'll see.
