Burning down in flames for kicks
I disagree. An occasional lag spike once every like 20 games in online casuals isn't gonna hurt especially if you're playing a superior player to yourself and trying to level up. An like I said, if you play someone on good connection you won't get a lag spike.
I appreciate your response but i must disagree. If i had the choice of playing say a Black Adam player who could have a lag spike against me vs one who doesnt..why would I pick the former?

Maybe because its not that big of a deal? People wanna learn the game and they should have the opportunity. Being a spoiled brat will only put more people off this community.

I don't really think its petty honestly. When i play sets Im training for a tournament. I want to replicate what it will feel like. If i play sets with people with wireless connections I might get used to the fear of a lag spike, and not used to the fear of an execution error. It's just a different level of thinking I guess, playing to win, or playing to have fun. Nothing wrong with playing for fun..but if I'm playing to win I'm training differently

There are devices/standards that can fix this, but the PS4 doesn't support them directly.

If you're unable to connect directly to your router, the best thing to do would be to get a Wireless AC router and a second Wireless AC access point, running on the 5 GHZ band. Plug your PS4 into the second access point via Ethernet, and assuming you're not super far away, you will get throughput equivalent to wired.

Example:

This is pricer equipment, but it's the only way to do this and get proper results.

The new AC standards support simultaneous upload and download, multiple antennas, and a ridiculous amount of optimization that eliminates many of the pitfalls of wireless g/etc. when used correctly. Anyone saying they can tell whether you're on AC or wired when used correctly is 100% lying.

Eventually consoles will support this stuff, but for now this is the best workaround if you're in a pinch.
You know who is gonna do that in rank mode? Nobody

The unfortunate part is even if you have that, some people will still see wireless bars and say "There's no way I'm playing a wireless player with full green bars, as that would just ruin the entire game for me"

Like, I can see why someone like PotH would say something like this, since there's real money involved in what he does. But I imagine he mostly just plays long sets with other tournament players who use wired connections already, in between writing his college thesis on why NRS needs to buff his main and polishing his collection of bronze medals. But your average IJ2 player probably shouldn't be worried about a lag spike. You know what you do if someone's lagging? DC and take the loss, or cheese them out and decline the rematch.
You're correct

Even with MIMO ( multiple frequencies on multiple antennas operating simultaneously to increase overall throughput) it's still two half-duplex connections...not a full-duplex connection; and you still have to deal with all of the limitations of wifi compounded now that you're using two devices. I would advise against this strategy.

If you absolutely can't go wired I would look into the following full-duplex solutions ranked by importance:

1) Actiontec Bonded MoCA 2.0 ethernet to coax adapter (maximum speed given the environment is equivalent to 1gig maxium of sustained throughput)
2) Netgear Powerline 1200 (nowhere near 1gig maximum, given the environment, possibly 300-400 max)

Not really seeing what the big deal is. If there are so many high level Wireless Players then you can still play each other and level up.

Personally I've never played an opponent in a Wireless connection that felt as good as a Wired One. The few times I've had unplayable matches with wired opponents boiled down to long distance not quality of net.

Before living on my own I was left with a Wireless Connection that made online play impossible despite the high speed I was getting. So I purchased a Range Extender with some built in gigabit ports and it helped exponentially. Wasn't hard, maybe 70$ on Amazon. Now I'm hard wired to the modem and haven't looked back.

If you're not willing to do what it takes to get the best quality connection given the multiple posted resources, not sure why anyone should go the mile to play you when it's proven the connection won't be as good.

I wish we could have emote likes now lol.

I know my connection is beyond saving, but when i really want to play online, the better option is to find someone who can borrow his wired connection for a few hours, this change is good, now i too can avoid bullshit when i'm wired lmao.

I occasionally check back in to TYM even though I don't really play anymore and every time I am bewildered at where these people come from that like try to attack @Pig Of The Hut for his results and shit. Who are these people? Also yeah if you're playing fighting games seriously and you don't have a wired connection you are out of your mind. It only serves to make your matches better and help you improve more.

Lol this thread is a trip. First, it's if you don't play on ps4 you're a noop. Now it's if you don't get on wired you're a noop. Lol I spent a pretty penny on an xbox1 and on premium internet to make sure I'm as good as good now if I don't go spend $400+ on a ps4 a controller adapter or fightstick, cuz I hate ps4 control, and buy a long ass wire or a couple shorts, even though I have 2 extenders 30' separated from gateway already, I'm outcast before I can turn my head. I sure as hell don't want the wires running through my crib but I guess that'll mean I can go downgrade my internet cost. Evil laugh nyuk nyuk nyuk.. though I remember playing mk9 and injustice on wired and UNPLAYABLE. my net feels flawless with this game, but if it'll help appease people I'll get my wire. Grrrr

No one is arguing fur wifi over wired, stop warping the debate because you don't want to address the actual problem. Nrs didn't shame a very large % of the community you guys did.
At first I wanted to try reason now idgaf.
You guys train with each other fine no one cares was never a debate, but when the people who matter stop carrying because your dicks. Remember this thread.
