Should Scorpion be banned? Yes, that is obvious, however nothing should be banned before Evo. Once there is 8 scorpions in top 8 we will see.

Scorpion breaks the rules of the game, renders reactionary smart play useless and renders zoning useless. The game is more dynamic and fun and competitive without scorpion, however he STILL shouldnt be banned before Evo.

In other real competitive fighting games you'll need plenty of time to develop strategies like Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, and Tekken but not this game. Not NRS games, lol...

Anyways, like I've said plenty of times already, the whole point of banning Scorpion now would be precisely to allow to game to breathe.

Yeah maybe, but this could also be the start of a slippery slope.

I think coming from MK, this game will evolve a lot quicker, but what if someone next week discovers some new universal tech that propels 1 or 2 characters dramatically up the tier list? What if it pushes them into brokeness?

On the other hand I would hate to see this game turn into Scorpion slug fests.

Going to make essentially the same point here that I did in the other thread - the whole "he's not broken, level up" argument is moot. Scorpion is a dogshit character that sucks the fun out of every match he's in, no matter what character it's against. Why do we want that to continue onwards in this game? We know he's good enough to be clearly viable and we know everyone hates him except the people who want to play him and run his bullshit. Everything past that is degrees. How are we going to have a stable, long-lasting game if nobody wants to play it?

This. Cyrax should've been a rap for every MK9 tournament ever by this logic, yet his tournament wins can be counted on one hand via players who are notorious for their fundamentals anyway.

Nobody said he's unbeatable. Broken =\= unbeatable.

He isn't productive to this game, its like the YOLOSWAG mentality, it just makes everything look like a next level dribbling retard did it.

Players should at least have to have an understanding of the capabilities of their opponents character to be able to fight them effectively, with Scorpion thats not an issue.

There are a lot of characters that did this in the past. Banned? No, they weren't.

The irony is, I HATED Scorpion with a passion in MK, but he looked really good in this.

Well, I am no real pro so you may not take my opinion seriously and I could agree with it at some degree, but I gotta say that I`ve seen this before, actually, I have seen what may be the best example for this problem:

In the early days of SSBB, everyone knew Meta Knight was good, because, asi you say with scorpion, "he doesn`t play by the rules" but the community decided to just level up and keep MK as a legal character. And do you know what happened? MK started taking around 10 TIMES the money other characters were taking in tournament, but that`s not it, not only did MK win most tournaments, but also, the metagame started revolving only around him, to the point of making the official tierlists based around the characters MUs with him. Thanks to this, only like 6 or 7 characters are actually viable in a game of 36.

You may say: "But SSBB is not a true FG, it`s a party game, even without MK it would still be highly unbalanced". But that`s not true, there have been tourneys with MK banned and those tourneys have shown lots of different characters in top 8, more than half the cast to give you an idea.

Now, I am not saying Scorpion is broken to Meta Knight levels, I am just saying that if he is, the community should ban him NOW, just to save the most of the roster from being unviable and the rest of the players from losing their money and their will to play.

I'm saying this game isn't as deep as people are fabricating it to be especially with breaking down characters. And regarding stage interactables, they are what they are. They're here to stay. Are they fair? Probably not in many cases. What does it tell you that the monkies at NRS decided to let random stages assist in skewing match ups? A lot. They don't know how to make games properly and Scorpion is an additional testament to that.

It's not ideal, but i put it in perspective, it doesn't actually matter...

But then it'll be an endless loop of buffs and nerfs because this community's track record of correctly addressing a broken character (from their perspective) is abysmal. Just ask the guy in my avatar. And in the end, NRS gets exhausted from it all and drops support for the game entirely.

That being said, remember how we were wrong about nerfing Kano in MK9 and we should've just let the metagame play out? Whatever happened to that idea?

Ok, like I said before. I've played hundreds of games with PL & REO, by now, the 'metagame' with scorpion doesn't evolve, the only thing that changes is the times the scorpion player chooses to do their teleports.

Ive even made an entire thread going over every single interactable in the game and how to punish it.

But since it wasnt made by a "top player", it must be wrong and interactables should be banned
