Players bringing unfair attention to their own character?

"Strength isn't everything"
This is a simple debate that I feel is worth having.

This isn't really a questions, more than a philosophy, but bare with me, its hard to put into words what I really want to say clearly.

Can a player, by mastering a character to its highest potential, and then playing it to their highest potential, manufacture their own fate, and ultimately get their own character nerfed due to the attention they have created?

Basically, when someone is playing and breaking down a character to its highest potential, are FG communities looking at the character and not the person? Ultimately causing an ''unfair'' nerf, simply because someone just interpreted the game differently with a character, or are just plain better.

I ask this because I am very concerned with how certain people in the community are treating Wonder Woman & Killer Frost right now and the effect it might cause to them (Patch wise), as they are creating the most noise at the moment, at least on boards.

Unless you have been living under a rock (with no internet connection) you will have seen A F0xy Grampa displaying Wonder Woman in her highest potential, and 16Bit playing Frost, 1. Due to the fact that they broke the character down to a science. 2. Are very talented gamers in general & 3. Has interpreted how the game should be played a little differently.

I wouldn't be surprised if Woman Woman and Killer frost both don't make it this time in Patch three...

Has this same pattern not already happened with Deathstroke, Doomsaday & Aquaman, due to players (Aris, CD, Brady), and will this not in fact happen to Killer frost, and now potentially WW?

Is it the character that is looked at, or should the person playing not be given credit instead of having their character nerfed?

Final Note:
Look at the characters that have been nerfed so far, and now look at the players responsible for the attention to said characters, it's no coincidence that they all ''happen to be'' great players, or have great track records and reputations for being good fighting game players. And that for me seems to be the only consistency so far with Injustice and general patching to the game.

Thoughts?

The problem with this theory is that it's debunked by Black Adam. He is the most used character by top players, has gotten the most exposure, and has won more local tourneys than any other character. Despite the cries about his divekick and braindead gameplay, he has been safe from every single patch up until this point.

No. Anyone that is not playing at their level is completely wasting their time and not playing the character to their complete potential. Who gives a fuck about nerfs if you can't compete anyways?

Like, if you're not playing Frost at 16 bit's level by now or WW at foxy's level by now, and don't plan to ever become that good, then you have absolutely 0 business having any opinion on the game's balance, or your character's balance. You are a filthy casual and as such do not matter, in my opinion.

After Evo, we will see how safe Black Adam is...

So everyone that isn't playing Killer Frost at 16bit/khaotic level is wasting their time?

Play Monster Hunter!
In a stream chat they day Scorpion came out, Paulo said they probably won't ever change anything about Wonder Woman.

So ya, she is very much under the radar.

In my opinion yes. If you are not at their level, and are not currently working to achieve that level, then you might as well just be a casual. And if you're a casual, you shouldn't have a say in balance whatsoever.

My elitist opinion. Not trying to argue with anyone.

Yes, same thing was happening in P4U. In the early days a Yukiko player, named Stunedge, was bending everyone over, spreading cheeks left and right. Everyone knows that Yukiko is low-tier now, but in those days Yukiko was considered top tier. I agree that the FG community has a bad habit for focusing on the character, instead of of giving credit to the players skill.

Luckily Arks didn't nerf her, but with the way NRS is that fear of nerfs is real.

There is evidence to support this idea, but there is also evidence against it. BA, Supes and Bats are the former, and considering Superman has the most tourney wins if i'm not mistaken?

It is impossible to say whether that the developers definitely base all the nerfs off of the success of tournaments, but it most likely does have an impact i.e. Kung Lao and Sub Zero.

Yes and no. Broken tech gets patched. In the case of wonder woman I could see them tweaking her air dive to make it not + on block due to it's otg properties. It is not something I think they intended to have in the game.

KF has high damage safe setups and has more options off a blocked slide than the opponent who blocked it.

I do see where you are coming from tho. The more broken we make a character look, the more attention we will get...characters like Superman, Batman, and Black Adam however have escaped the nerf hammer all together where a character like Death Stroke (due to the simplicity of his tactics) got nerfed pretty damn hard.

Foxy's wonderwoman is insane. I know first hand, I played it. When I play his wonder woman I sit there going "This bitch is broken". However, I generally don't have a problem against ANY other Wonder Woman.

AK Pig Of The Hut had a similar instance of this when he was training against Killer Frosts...he thought he knew the matchup and then played Bit.....she wasn't broken until he realized just HOW broken she was.

So yes, the higher level the character is exposed at brings about the most attention, however NRS currently has their golden boys for marketing and I cannot see them bringing the nerf hammer down on them.

Before I respond to this, I just want to make sure I'm understanding this. Can you elaborate on this a bit more?

Didn't nrs say they wouldn't focus too much on nerfs in injustice? And focus more on buffs? Or was i mistaken..

paulo disproved that.

WW is fine so what if foxy is fucking god like.
just cause i lose to a good lobo player doesnt mean lobo needs nerfs.

stream monsters & casuals are responsible for nerfs and they dont even play for $!
they just want to have an way easier time online.
