"I Will Destroy You All!" Doomsday General Discussion Thread

Here's hoping that KI3 has a 360 port or that Microsoft fixes this whole xboxone fiasco and makes the console more appealing because a New KI would be a dream come true.

Because for me, if that happens then chances are likely that Injustice GAU along with Doomsday will probably take a back seat for a while if not completely fall off the bus.

F2 is in itself an amazing move. Aquamans B2 overhead is 4 frames slower and it's about the same range. Sure it's not entirely safe, but this is Doomsday. He literally has a button that says 'Press not to care'. And it may not do damage, but it's a gapless special canceler. Yet I rarely ever see it on stream

Also, Doomsday took Northwest Majors the other week. That's pretty cool.

F2 mix ups rock big time. Very good range and sometimes F2 stuffs wake ups as well, especially slow ones.

With all the Doomsday faults that people always seem to bring up I still have faith in our engine of destruction. Just need to learn better strategies and play smart like we all should be.

I found a "Standing Crossup" with Doomsday, corner only.
How it works is that you hit someone with Venom then MB it so you get 2 hits with it afterwards you dash once. After the dash you'll be on the other side where you can do b1 or f2 for the overheard crossup

Remind me again what these faults are? Besides low damage and no projectile.
Basically, it's not just that he does low damage, it's that all of his attack vectors, besides mb venom, carry a risk which sometimes feels like it's worth more than the damage he would inflict on getting a hit. That got worse with the changes to the wake up system.

Of course I say *sometimes* because DD is a very yomi heavy character. Its hard to feel that way when all your guesses are right and the opponent is spending more time on his back then standing up. But in matches where DD loses half a life to get in just to score a d1, ES, then guesses wrong on the wake up and gets pushed out again (or worse eats one of those mb attacks that causes 40% dmg), the weaknesses feel very palpable.

Technically it's a "Standing Cross-Up" so I edited my post, but yeah having his forward dash have low crush properties leads to some interesting setups especially on opponent wake up. I gotta lab it up for some more stuff like this

I am more concerned about his trait nerf. Imo the nerf was too much. 5 seconds duration and 15 seconds cool down ? Jesus...

Problem is that Doomsday is a Scrub Killer type of character: Extremely hard to deal with if you aren't 'in the know', but much, much more manageable if they are. And it leads to a very annoying situation when it comes to nerfing, since all the people who lose to Doomsday get mad and say he needs nerfing, while those who know about himhave no problem, but he just gets nerfed anyways to appease the masses.......

Do you guys think the Doomsday well is tapped dry? I'd be really sad to hear that, as I really enjoy playing him competitively. Is there any tech being brewed with him right now?

You don't to find new tech every month or so in order for a character to stay viable. Sure it makes beating people not used to that tech much easier, but by playing smart, safe and making the right reads a basic character can still win. I see DD as similar to a character like Bison or Balrog. Pretty straight forward, with not a lot of options, but those options are good enough to top 8 or even win a major.

I agree, just because a character isn't loaded with gimmicks doesn't mean they can't be played effectively, Ryu is another example, everyone knows his moves but they still lose to them.

Wait, what? Serious question because I just started learning Doomsday like a day ago: what is this button or move? It literally says that or is named that?
His trait. You press it, then you cease to care about the opponent

Has anyone else been having standing 2 whiff on crouching characters even though its a mid? I've been having it happen against Catwoman and Green Arrow, I think it might be certain moves changing the size of their hitbox as I've been trying stand 2 after a knockdown and having their wakeup crouching 1 sailing straight under and hitting me while Doomsdays fist looks like its in their head. That or my timing and spacing just sucks.
