I've been playing tekken as my main game since t1 and just like VF the characters are very similar system knowledge esp concerning movement is key. I don't hate smash or anyone who plays it I just don't like it I understand it but in play it makes no sense to me and I just don't find it very fun.
Like smash ive been playing VF since the first one was released in arcades but I really didn't get into the franchise till VF3. No fighting game has Yomi game that VF does and for those of you that don't know mind games. My favorite traditional fighting game is easily VF and hybrid SB. Fuudo said it best when hes competing in SSFIV its like hes trying to beat that character but when hes playing VF it feels like hes actually trying to beat that player. Movement is a big part of VF but so is making the right guesses/reads.
Not only that but knowing your character is key in VF5FS because you need to know what moves work in certain situations. For example the range of the attacks your using and not to use certain attacks to close because there to much of a risk. I can go on for a while but ill just leave it at that. I like DOA5 but to me its still isn't anywhere near as solid as VF5FS. When it comes to Injustice I made this topic to put it out in the open about people who might be misinformed about the amount of bad matchups in this game.
Not only that but to discuss how bad some of the matchups in this game are which isnt a bad thing every fighting game has them however it does becomes a problem when certain characters are head and shoulders better than the rest of the cast. It forces you to use those characters that you wouldn't have to use when it comes to high level play like say tournaments. No one wants to see the same damn characters being used in the top 10 and to make things worse some of the cast might not even be bothered with at high level play which is a shame. I also want to keep bringing up the fact that NRS for better or worse are going to keep releasing balance patches so people that feel that things are set in stone understand we aren't playing the final version of Injustice.
I really do hope this game succeeds and does well in high level play because lets face it It'll keep injustice relevant. UMvC3 for example didn't meet sales expectations at first but due to the game getting so much love from the tournament scene the game stayed relevant which help the game eventually reach its sales goals. Not only that but most of us appreciate watching some of our favorite characters being used and succeeding at a high level. No fighting game is perfectly balanced (Don't fucking bring up karate champ) but its nice to be able to pick up any character you want while not having to face frustratingly bad matchups. So yea Injustice is fun as fuck so I really do hope this game only gets better over time.
