Tech Stop thinking Shazam is bad

they have something in common, both have risky 50/50 to get their damage.. THEIR both bad!
scorpions problem wasnt his vortex it was basically his whole moveset that held him back, mediocre normals and anti air, no real safe move that lead to anything buggy armor, one of the worst pokes in the game. Im sure shazam has enough tools to at least be able to play the universal footsies game.

D3 is -fullcomboounish, 25f teleport that can't go through much without a ridiculosus read. His only safe overheads are eother f3 or f1 (high) 2. His basic strings are general high starters with his best mid starter at 17f. His prjectile is a high and his command throws are full combo on whiff. Buggy armor? We have to guess on wakeup if you're crouching or standing to wakeup invincible and hit you. Scorpion at least has a meterless 5050 so he at least has meter to break. The mixup sh azam does is meter negative by a lot so he always loses wager if he's winning just like doomsday.

Mb bolts suck, sorry. Teleport isn't raiden's. Sorry, get better as a player instead of anchoring a momentum character as to why you lose.
Aside from the balance issue, I don't think it's okay to have moves be useless from a design perspective. There is no reason to teleport EVER, and anytime you use a bolt, thats time you should have spent advancing. They should adjust these things to have situation uses even if it barely effects balance.

They have situational uses. Since bolt is a high everyone tries to duck it, and at midrange if you show bolt chucking you can easily b2 or torpedo them for trying to preemptively duck his fireball. Also very good for punishing terribly spaced air projectiles. Teleport is good for building meter backwards or for allowing the corpse hop ttech in another shazam thread. Also great for avoiding interactables.

1.) then dont just through it out and learn the spacning (exactly what i did)

2.) The Teleport isnt for free advancement, its usualy for creating the desired spacing when ending a combo (corpse hopping)

3.) Alot of characters are like that but so what? 2 is a 12 frame mid with good range and allows for a free tele on block

4.) his projectile isnt anything special i admit, so are all throws

5.) You cannot get out of this unless you do a wakeup so that irrelevant

After seeing EddiePistons Shazam in action, I have to agree with Tom on this one. He has problems but is definitely viable.

If you guys think Shazam is bad now, you should have seen how bad he was pre-day 1 hotfix when Atlas Torpedo only did 5% damage and 2,2 whiffed on crouchers despite being mid.

I'm not saying Shazam doesn't have holes in his game, but the metagame is still young. Nobody is playing an optimal Shazam right now and a lot of braindead stuff that is currently working for other characters gets blown up.

This character is like SSF4 Ibuki; you don't really have matchups. If you get the knockdown and get your pressure going, you win. If you don't, you lose.

Stop relying so much on 2,2 to establish pressure. You have other stuff.

Scorpion had one of the best AAs in MK9 in his d1, and what armor move of his was buggy? I haven't played in a while so I don't remember.

I think he is referring to ex spear whiffing on some chars while not on others. Although that's not an issue with the armor so idk.

both his armor moves go thorugh the opponent pretty often. you will have spend one meter to get full combo punished even though you made the right guess to armor out of pressure. D1's aren't that great for anti air they aren't as consistent as special move anti airs or standing anti airs, d1's get beat by jumpkicks and a good spaced cross over punch also beats it. scorpion has a good d1 for anti air though if you compare it with other d1's. I think you stopped playing Mk9 around the time before mlg since a lot of things changed when mlg started.

We are taking about Shazam here. 1, maybe 2 solid attack strings for pressure. This is not the batman forum.

I stopped when Injustice came out, so I was around during all the changes, Scorpion's d1 was one of the few to work great against jump kicks and cross over punches because it had a great vertical hitbox. Now I remember his armor whiffing, but I think NRS hitboxes are to blame there.
