I must be Insane. Does Fun Matter?

I'll gladly take losing 7 out of 10 matches if I come out of it a better player. I don't give a rats about how immaculate my hero card looks. Do players on this forum even take those statistics seriously?
i can't take the stats seriously at all....mostly because i can't even view them lol! on a side note, i know plenty of my friends who look at W/L ratios to see how they are. i don't think going by W/L is a good way to determine skill. i play with some really tough people on a regular basis and so i lose a bunch. but i don't think i'm a bad player for it.

you know what I miss. When people had beef about shit and they just shut the fuck about it and didn't post. Does everyone have to register their displeasure on the internet now for high fives? Did I miss a form letter or something?

Winning IS fun ;).

Tbh I mostly play just because the game is spectacular, interactables and stage transitions are what made me buy the game, and are what makes me enjoy the game. I was also extremely influenced by Proxicide's mk vs sf flash, where there are transitions AND interactables (in the third flash movie). Heck even the health bar looked slightly similar, I enjoyed that animation waaay too much to not buy Injustice. I've been enjoying this game as a crazy, fast paced game.
(For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, take a look:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/377529 ===> This part is imo, the one that Injustice looks closest to. Stage transitions, interactables, health bar.)
It's always been a small dream of mine to be able to play a FG similar to this.

This is a competitive gaming forum. We (at least most of us) play to win. We gain our enjoyment from working hard to win, giving ourselves the best oppurtunity to win, and acheiving that goal. Not from playing a certain character who is trash at the highest possible level (not saying bane is trash, but I think we can establish he is no where near Aquaman) and losing in the name of "fun". If thats what you want to do, then thats cool, and it doesn't make you any less of a gamer or a person or whatever, but you are in the wrong place and are in the minority here. Well I don't know, maybe you won't be, there are a lot of new members with that mentality it seems haha.
So what you're saying is that the majority of players here use whatever tactics (no matter how lame) to win. I guess you can count me out of the lame ass try-hard community.

Yeah it's called playing to win. If your not into it, that's cool. But don't complain when I beat you doing the same thing over and over.

YES!
For me, i don't have fun unless i'm playing against strong competition. There is no fun in beating the crap out of someone that barely knows how to play (why i don't play randoms online)

win or lose, all i want is a good fight

Some people don't have fun when they lose all the time.
Depends on how you loose. Close matches with plenty of good plays and close calls are awesome to win and loose. Getting smashed into the ground with no chance whatsoever is kind of frustrating even if you are the one who is doing the smashing. Once in a while it's fun to obliterate an opponent but I'd rather loose an interesting and tense fight than winning with both bars still fully intact.

Vent mode on.

Fun always matters. But the thrill of competition shouldn't get in the way of fun. I for one have been through both of those (tekken arcade scene), the greed, the ego, the will to win, it just eats you up lol, although I just usually get it if I don't like the player, or during team battles. But for everything else, especially casuals, fun should come first, playing a guy who just plays to win takes ALL the fun out of it. Cheap tactics and all. That's prolly the one thing I hate during casuals. But hey what can we do, there are people who just play like that. Can't do nothing about it.

Vent mode off.

P.S. sometimes it sucks when you main a character because he's your favorite, then he turns up as top tier, and you end up as a bandwagoner. massive LOL.

You're not a bandwagoner if you were using a character before they were shown to be top tier.

You're just a hipster.

Games were made to fun man. I'm good at certain fighters because I have fun with them. when you're having fun you have more of a will to learn.

I despise Raven as a character yet still play her because she is fun. IMO it is best to find who you have fun with and stick with them.

Back when MK9 was big, I was maining the undoubtedly weakest character in the game
<~ Jade.
The fun was when Kung Lao and Cyrax players sent me hatemail and top tier "online best" players called me a fucking nightmare.
Get some spite in there and love your character. You'll never be top notch unless you play top notch, but you can sure fake it with the right amount of work.
The weakness of the snowball characters is that they all play the same way. Find counters.
Do work bro.

I have fun playing rushdown characters, and I also do the best with them.

Cage in MK9
Rufus in SF4

Now Hawkgirl in IGAU... most of you people here don't know about Hawkgirl's rushdown, but you will once more people start playing her

Of course fun matters, its just you have to find a mix of chances of winning and fun.

I play Bane/Sinestro/Black Adam/Grundy.

I love huge grappling/power type characters, so Bane was first and Grundy came naturally second.
I also love evil dudes that wear yellow, so I picked up Adam before everyone knew he was good, got bored of divekick man and learned Sinestro cause people said he sucked.

Now I enjoy a challenge, but stuff like Superman vs Bane is just stupid, so its always nice to pick a better character whilst still having a mastery over a lower one.

Bane is my go to guy for lulz fights, cause he is simply fun to play and watch.
Sinestro is my go to guy for serious play right now, little devil is so fun once you get good at reads and charging trait.

Truth, justice and the American way.
The truth is, gaming, especially fighting games, are growing as a spectator sport.

People will watch. Hell, there are in excess of 5,000 people watching WNF and every one of them will have their favorite player. They will root for their favorite character and the player who represents that character.

Some people want to place first, some people want to be recognized as the best representative of a character they enjoy playing. No matter their standing.
