Newsflash: the Batman universe is extremely popular and has maybe 70% of the most iconic, beloved, and recognizable characters in the DC canon.

I don't know why people are surprised at this; but there it is. If you don't like it, there's always Marvel

So what's the cutoff? When does the amount of characters in the game become "too many"? 9/28? 11/28? Half the cast?

Iconic? Beloved? Recognizable? To who? People that only know characters from cartoons and such....yeah, I'd assume so because Batman has more cartoons, movies, and media than any other DC personality. He is given opportunity after opportunity to be showcased to the masses so he's basically all they know. They canceled GL and Young Justice and, guess who gets another cartoon in their place, Batman. Justice League is selling very well, how about another show like "Unlimited" that has the big 6/7 but also showcases others.

In the past 5 years alone for Batman: 2 Live-Action movies, 3 separate cartoons (4 if you include him being a part of the JL cartoon), 5 animated movies (7 if you include the "Superman/Batman" ones and 11 if you include the Justice League/DC Super Friends), and 6 video games (8 if you include Injustice and the IOS ones). The other people combined aren't coming close to this.

she's a batgirl that was raised as an assasin, she's either eurasian or american-asian. she has a natural ability to read the enemy's movement and is faster than even batman. i think she uses weapons like katanas and shurikens.

Instead, he uses a mind forged through years of study, combined with and unquenchable thirst for justice fueled by childhood tradgedy.

He shows no remorse, and never wears his heart on his sleve; yet there's an undercurrent of anger, hurt, and pain and wanting to do right. He outsmarts his enemies rather than outmuscling them. He bleeds like you and me; and he spends as much time in the research lab as on the streets. It's hard to write a deeper, more complex style of superhero, and he really stands out in a world full of DC heroes with 'cookie-cutter' obvious OP powers like "stronger than steel" and "able to run at the speed of light".

Likewise the villians are complex and use all manner of trickery, they play with his psychology, and they are creative in their schemes rather than using magic to make up for intellect. It's just a well-conceived comic universe, and one of the truly crowning achievements in the entirety of comic history.

So does it deserve all that and more? I'd say, yeah it does.

Batman isn't the only character to use his intellect to win the day just saying also Batman has a ton of plot armor which gets him out of trouble way more than any ones super powers would

Batman isn't hard to write his personality is very simple you make him a brooding hurt child that can do anything (from what I have read)

his villains can be good but a lot of them are just boring I prefer villains with goals outside of fucking with Batman

I see. I wish more people knew of Green Arrow.. I personally find him 10x more interesting than batman.. Even though he basically IS batman with a bow. But he has a goatie, so by default he's better.

Personally I never was really interested in DC very much at all, now I'm reading comics like Animal Man, Green Arrow, etc. I always end up getting interested in the b or c list heros that get less coverage Nova, Hawkeye, Cable, I'd even argue that Dr Doom doesn't get much attention anymore.
