they shut down lucas arts and go to ea? fuck fuck fuck.... let the microtransactions begin

Disney isn't going to let a little thing like closing down LucasArts stop them from putting out new Star Wars video games. Today, Walt Disney Company announced via press release that they have signed an exclusive deal with EA to develop and publish new games from the Star Wars universe.

While that does not likely mean the games LucasArts was working on will see the light of day, it does mean new Star Wars games are on the way, and possibly sooner than we might expect (see: before 2015's Star Wars Episode VII). EA, in a joint announcement, specifed that they'll have games spanning "consoles, PCs, tablets, mobile and more," and divulged that in-house developers DICE and Visceral will develop new games in the Star Wars world using the Frostbite 3 engine, in addition to BioWare, who will continue their work there (following up on Knights of the Old Republic and the Old Republic MMO).

“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to creating quality game experiences that drive the popularity of the Star Wars franchise for years to come,” said John Pleasants, Co-President of Disney Interactive in the press release. “Collaborating with one of the world’s premier game developers will allow us to bring an amazing portfolio of new Star Wars titles to our fans around the world.”

Play Monster Hunter!
The last several star wars games Lucas Arts have put out have been terrible.

At least this way you will have dice making a proper Battlefront 3.

It depends on the project and the team.
dead space 3 sucked from what i have heard. imo ea ruined mass effect 3 by forcing bioware to throw multiplayer in and to have it affect the ending

also ea lost a shit load of fans from the old republic wich isnt a good sign

just because they have bioware dosent mean we will see a star wars kotor 3 the way they would do it like the first one. ea is going to piss and shit all over that and charge for lightsabers blasters ect

i was a supporter of disney buying star wars but closing lucas arts and dealing with ea isnt a good sign. id rather they go to witcher creator cd project red

First, from everything I have heard, everything that went wrong with Old Republic should be laid at the feet of BioWare and BioWare Austin. They have a tremendous amount of pull, and EA probably couldn't bully them.

CD Projekt RED is an awesome developer, but I don't think they would be able to work their magic if they were working within such a strict IP. Working with the Star Wars brand is more restrictive than working with a Polish fantasy author (Andrzej Sapkowski). I was in a round table discussion with their writer, and his approach is very feel-based, so checking in with a publisher for every line of dialogue wouldn't produce Witcher-quality stuff.

Also, LucasArts had to close. They weren't shipping product. Nobody I know who worked there was surprised.
