I give up on wake up attacks.

Unlike other games you can't really mash them as you land or while you're laying on the ground. You really have to input them as you are getting up or just before.

That's what I do at least. Still no clue if you lose invincible frames on delayed wake up attacks.

I had trouble doing wake up attacks at first as well. I recommend doing the motion, and triple tapping the button. Ie if you want to do hawkgirls mace charge on wake up, hit back, hold forward, and hit 2, 3+ times. I would recommend against mashing the motion, as i cant see that as being reliable, but if it works for you it works.

It doesn't matter how much I practice the timing, my retarded ass characters don't do them when I input the command. Did NRS intend to make it this way or do they just suck at programming?
they intended it to be the way it is. A big issue alot of people had with MK9 was how useless knockdown advantage was.

what you need to do is find the wake-ups that actually have some invincibility and know how to use them. You can't just mash inputs and hope you get up for free.

The window for inputting them is tight but its not impossible. Or you could just wake up blocking then pushblock them off of you

I just want to say that it isn't useless, especially on characters like Shang Tsung.

It just wasn't as easy for the aggressor as it was for the defender.

I'm really hoping they make the buffer window a bit more lenient with one of the upcoming patches. Before they buff or nerf any characters it would be great if they could get some of these universal issues dealt with.
HELL NO... I love it just the way it is. You guys wanna get up for free? God forbid something like wake up attacks cant be mashed out, that must be patched........

See, here is my issue... I wake up with a WU attack any time I want, why don't I have that problem? AHHHH.. because I used to feel the way you guys do now and I PRACTICED

If only it was actually was that easy to win...

In fact, Aquaman is probably the most dropped character as a main since the game came out. The culprit? Zoning...
I will say this character is actually pretty difficult to play. It's surprising. No way in hell I'm dropping him though. On topic I haven't had that much of an issue with wake up attacks personally. It's just different.

I never said I want to get up for free, but when you get blown up over and over because your move just isn't coming out, or is coming out as a non-wakeup version, it becomes very irritating. I practiced too, and I can get wakeups to go off with about 90% consistency in practice mode (except Cyborg's Techno Tackle, which comes out as Target Acquired...), but that goes down to about 1% as soon as I go online. And like it or not, online play is a big enough part of this game to warrant an extra couple of frames of input leniency.

Allowing players (especially casual players) to actually do the moves they're trying to do is never a bad thing. Do you really want to win because an overly-strict game system prevented your opponent from doing the move they put in? Yeah, people should be practicing their wakeup timings, but adding those few extra frames of input leniency would not break the game; it could only allow more players to compete at a higher level.
