As we all know there's chip damage in this game --one of the traits inherited from the Mortal Kombat legacy. The chip isn't too much (at least in the demo), it is just enough to deter a complete turtling / defensive gameplay from taking over the metagame; let's face it with no chip damage the game could evolve into a sort of cat-and-mouse game.

UPDATED
Chip damage however has an odd behavior when it comes to normal attacks, specially Light and Medium attacks. At times they appear to do chip damage (very little at that), and other it seems they don't chip at all. In fact, during some tests chip from Light and Medium attacks only took place after several repetions of basic strings like 11 or 22.

What is for certain is that Light and Medium attacks won't kill you with chip damage right off the bat. A Hard attack or a special move are requiered to do so with absolute certainty.

I need to look further into this to draw any firm conclusions.

Tired, But Strong
I noticed this, was very happy about it. This decisively lowers the amount of "impossible" situations you could be put in.

This one's for you
I just tried it, and you can most definitely be killed by chip. I think the issue is either that the amount of chip is so small that it's hard to notice, or you take less chip with less life. I wonder if Aidan will want to take on the monster of a job again that he did in MK9 :)

You're right, I tested it. It seems Light and Medium normals do so little damage or none some times that I got fooled into believing chip damage didn't kill you on your last pixel. I haven't been able to notice a scale or pattern for this to draw any firm conclusions.

Sorry for spreading wrong information. You can unlike the OP if you want. :(

Get on that hook

The most interesting thing about chip damage in Injustice however is it's inability to completely drain out the life bar (both of them actually). Once you reach your last pixel --in MK community "the Tyrant pixel"-- chip damage stops working. You or your opponent have to actually land a hit to win the "round" or the match.

This very likely nothing new to most, but I think it is worth to make this known for those who weren't aware of this particular characteristic of Injustice's mechanics.
This is something I bitched about half a year ago. I'm glad they did something. 'cause one should always have a chance to come back even from a magic pixel.

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
chip damage = anti-turtling cheap dirty keep away tactics ..... chip damage it's a welcome stuff in fighting games that never sould be taken out

Don't give up!
We're all still feeling around and finding our way in the game. I don't think you're in the fault at all, TC.

You still deserve my 'Like'.

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
I think the chip on normals is a very small percentage of the damage of the move. For instance a blocked d1 is around 0.10% or something lol
