I tried to find a pattern but nothing is for sure, they block everything and much of the hit n misses are pretty much random, UT's are pretty much the only consistent hits u can look foward to.
goddamn forreal talk, its like they programmed the battle design for ElizaBITCH from Ninja Gaiden 2 (or sigma) into every goddamned enemie in the game -.-. If u don't know who ElizaBITCH is, well lets put it this way. She's a boss that lets you hit her whenever the game desides you can -.- so u just gotta keep trying and dodging her attacks until it happens.....

heres the bitch in the flesh, and this is one of the options on how to fight her.

I found the alchemist to be ridiculously easy once you expose their pattern. Hell, they are even easier in Kasumi's(I'm sure thats her name) portions since I ran through her demo stage with easy compared to Hayabusa's.
actually, i found a fairly easy way to take out the alchemists. I noticed that they give u a steel on bone prompt once u dismember them, so instead of using an obliteration technique. Just wait for the SoB opportunity and kill 3 in a row.

So after playing this for a while i got this:
SoB exists in the game, but not as UT anymore, so UT now are actually the REAL UT NG always had, and they increase in level as any character level his weapon up.

SoB now can only be used when the opponent uses a somewhat UT technique, which if you counter with Triangle, the main character enter on SoB mode, the numbers you can take down with SoB increases as the weapon levels up, on defaut level it kills only 2 opponents, and gains some substantial life from it.

All common basic tehcniques, (Counters, Teleport, Falcon Eye, Shoulder jump, Flying decapitation, Ninjutsu) are all exchanged with essence points, and some of this attacks now drains the Ki level, making way harder to use some Ninjustu.

Ninjustu recovers health but drains all bar.
Falcon Eye, will continuously decrease the Ki meter as long as Hayabusa is holding L2 in air, when the Ki level is low, this tech is disabled.
Teleport is useful but drains a substantial bar of meter.
Opponents have Reverse wind to avoid attacks lol.
Alchemists are a pain in the Ass
Sword into Sub-Zero's slide transitions combos seems to be disabled in the demo, or they completely removed it
Rage is similar to essence absorbed, when the sword is glowing red, the ultimate attacks become fully charged

DarkSlayerSmith is 1 hour stuck on Ayame's mission and didn't beat the Alchemists yet.

Not all enemies allow chaining of SoB...I thought Alchemists were one of those that didn't allow chaining(I could be totally wrong on this?). And are we talking black or white outfit? White Alchemists are ezmode. I don't think the black ones even have a red charge attack, since they're minibosses?

I've S-ranked both chapters on all 3 characters on Master Ninja and now I'm building Karma to get the alt costumes on Ryu and Kasumi (have Ayane's). I'm assuming only what you unlock is carried over to the game, not accumulated Karma.

Karma does carry over to the full game so farm up. For te shield problem, use the strong attack to break the shield but you can do a couple of hits before they dodge the next one :\

actually, u CAN SoB the alchemists, but you only get the prompt if u dismember one of them, if u wanna kill all 3 in 1 fell swoop u have to hit the rest with power attacks (2) to get rid of their shields, otherwise they block the SoB.

White or black? I don't think you can SoB anything with an on-screen health bar, like the black ones have.

either or, but u have to dismember them first, otherwise they won't attempt to do it. Once they lose an arm theyll attempt a throw which will give them that flame that signals you to perform a SoB. However you need to make sure the other alchemists don't have their shields up if u plan to get all 3 in one fell swoop, otherwise they'll block it. Try it for urself.

and yes this CAN be done to the alchemists, i've done it before...just not all 3 at once.

I believe you, just curious. I've only ever killed a black alchemist, never dismembered (in the demo. I don't remember the original NG3 fights because they were such garbage).

2 UT's should be enough to dismember them, maybe 3?, but yeah.

How do you SoB properly? After the red charge, sometimes I just SoB only once instead of multiple enemies.

u have to tap triangle while they have that red-black aura, and then press Square to keep going. Max of 3 kills in a row can be done, but they have to be near you.

Ninj , im only talking about the Ryu Mission, im not sure if the alchemists ayane fights are dismemberable or not....i think they are tho, i'll have to check. S-ranking this stuff is NOT easy.

Oh ok I assume if you do it too late then it will have its own animation.

For real it's annoying on ayane stage as ryu. I keep on getting As

nope, if u don't press the button then nothing happens, u just stop. however, if u screw up the SoB, u'll get countered and take damage.....so don't screw it up.

The black alchemists in Ayane's aren't dismemberable. Maybe they are in the real game, but in that stage they're minibosses and have to be killed straight up.

I've S-ranked both stages as all 3 characters about 12 total times now. Got a couple of A's in there, but I'm just goofing off and playing with the different combos, trying to expand my horizons (and build massive Karma for the release)...there are some pretty CRAZY combo chains that are actually decent in large groups that I've found so far. Mostly with Kasumi and Ayane.

I'm gonna work on the Dual Sword setup with Ryu. I've always felt I'm missing something with it and it can be a real force of nature.

Edit: Kasumi is pretty powerful but so far I think Ayane is the best of these 3. There's Hitomi and a secret ninja I think in the real game. It better be a nightmare to unlock this mystery ninja...

i can play the game well, but i can't seem to get it down to a science yet where i can get strait S's, any tips for how to move about? do u counter attack at all or no?

3rd ninja is Momjii. Neato.

Anyway, yes I have some tips. S-ranking is based on total Karma points only, so you need to be both relatively quick and use lots of SoB techniques as it yields the most points (that 3.0 modifier baby).

I have two modes of playing - one for style and one for S-ranking/Perfecting fights. S-ranking/Perfecting fights involves a shit ton of block-dashing (holding block and dashing away to bait out SoB opportunities on mobs that will do it). Also a lot of Izuna Drop's (or equivilant for whichever weapon/character you're using, XYXXXY) - Izuna Dropping also builds the rage modifier, but I think it's only if you have it already...haven't really paid close attention to that.

Ayane's end room (black alchemists) has no real science to it, just tips. I save Ninpo til the first vangelf (purple monster, whatever his name is) and use it to dismember him and hope that he just leaves me alone and stays in the back, throwing fireballs sometimes. That lets you kill all of the normal white clad dudes. Once they all run out, I'll have a free quick-charge UT available, so I'll execute the vangelf then quick-charge a UT on the next two, then play it safe and throw her exploding shurikens (ayane) or exploding arrows (ryu) or use the XXYY combo (kasumi - it's a pretty safe one 'cause it teleports her away and flies at them). Once the spider-clan ninja's come at you, you reach a minicheckpoint. You wanna be sitting on Ninpo (or get Ninpo by the time you're done with the ninjas) and just Izuna Drop them all - takes 2 per, but that's what I do if I'm S-ranking. Builds combo points and I think some range multiplier. Even if not, if you're paying attention and block-dashing appropriately you won't get hit, or get hit much, so you'll get S/A ranks on health left/time for big points. You should be S/S or S/A or A/S ranking every previous fight - the 2 courtyard fights and the hallway by SoB'ing everything except the missile launcher dudes.

Edit: For the Black alchemists you either want to have Ninpo or 50%+ of your life bar so you can absorb a hit or two in order to pull off a UT charge. Other than that...just try and find the sweet spot where you can pull off a UT charge. You'll hang yourself before you beat these 3 guys by fighting them hand to hand with normal attacks.

That's all for Ayane's challenge. Her's starts easy, and gets hard. Ryu's starts hard and gets easy. Once you get to the white alchemists at the end, you've won 'cause you can just UT them over and over pretty mindlessly.

SoB'ing the 2nd set of guys in Ryu's challenge is a pain in the ass. You can also do the additional fight with all the alien monsters and SoB a ton of them if you feel confident - they red-glow a lot. Basically an additional chance to S/S rank another fight before the big arena thing. In the arena, I just Izuna Drop most things and dash jump to safe places so I can take out missile launchers as needed.

You can also jump in the air and hit B to throw shurikens at the invisible dudes and see them - all these guys are easy to Izuna Drop, they suck at blocking. The vehicle section is easy as Ayane and Ryu 'cause you can just jump in the air and throw your exploding shuriken/arrows. Only thing to watch for is getting run over - the camera (as usual) works against you here. You can use Ninpo as you see fit in Ryu's mission - I've started to not use it at all, or use it for fun as opposed to necessity for its healing.

If I'm going for style (which I do pretty often) then I practice counter-attacking and fancy combos and all that. I like both styles of play but I tend to go with S-ranking until everything is unlocked...then it's style forever. And challenges. I can't wait for the 100 Challenges Razor's Edge has in it.

Oh and Co-Op. My brother and I are going to play that, and I'm sure it'll be just like MK9 online -retarded but fun.

Questions?

Run away from them and start charging. If none of them run up to you (allowing you to release a UT in their face) and instead start charging up their fireball, I either cancel the UT and run around to avoid it or I just release it at the same time the fireball is gonna hit me, 'cause you gain invincibility frames during it, like when you block-dash or use the A+X (Square+X) jump.

I'm too Skeptikal after playing NG3... Getting my sword stuck in every enemy I killed, and then having to mash relentlessly.

I feel like the Sigmas got worse each time so I'll wait. Let me know what you guys think when you try it.

I despised NG3. I've been playing the shit out of the demo for Razor's Edge. They basically put back in all the fun shit they took out from NG2.

I never played the Sigma's. NG2 rocked my balls though.

I'm buying it for the Challenge Tower basically.

I'm downloading the Demo right now.. Here's to hoping it changes my mind..

PS: IMO Ninja Gaiden Sigma is better than Ninja Gaiden II, gameplay wise at least. Features, I'm not sure.
