UPDATE: Doomsday Revealed in GameStop's 'Join the Party' Promotion

I opened all the psd files and viewed every image in all the directories and checked every parent directory as well. Nothing. I even checked all the hidden layers in PSD format to see if there were unused assets that would reveal secrets. NOPE. Just things like pause buttons and different images to chop shop into his "video player" photoshopping. I guess he couldn't decide whether a play button or a pause button looked cooler for this and whether the box art or the 3 characters looked better for the "video image".

Just generic graphic design stuff. Seriously should have just gotten an error 403 of permission not allowed when I hit backspace on the URL, but nope I went straight in. Plus naming files Doomsday on the site? Really? Guy did a good graphic layout and all but made some enormous amateur mistakes on the directory and security. I dont even know hacking, but this is like 4th grader easy to reveal. Who here doesn't know to right click and hit inspect element to view source code to look for names or urls and to simply try entering crap in the address bar to find things uploaded but without redirects to them yet?

Aaaaaand this confirms what I figured. They got permission to do this, but they haven't actually been given any footage or renders yet. So they were given a url link to where things will be later and told what character they would get.

Its a nice idea, but folks check this stuff and you have to prepare for that because it is going to be done. The web page designer really boned this thing. We were ALL trying to get facebook friends and such hooked into this so it WAS working. Bad page security and silly file names ruined a decent marketing idea just now. Live and learn. This one is a professional mistake someone only needs to make once to know they'll never make it again.

Lol. I just realized that the uploading a file by name was a mistake first made by the Injustice site, because we got Shazam revealed early that way. Then Gamestop made the same mistake, but even worse didn't set up permissions for the asset page. Plus before this the last comic book videogame had ALL 12 of its roster revealed early when entering names on the UMVC3 site got folks the entire UMVC3 updated roster list.

There should be a training guide for folks setting up these sort of "Reveal" websites. Name unused assets gibberish and do not upload their directory without permission. Plus to be safe upload NOTHING until the moment it is going public.

Being skeptical is nice and all, but some people seriously need just take things for what they are sometimes. This was most obviously a reveal weeks ago.

I know it sucks, but man...talk about overreacting.

We'll get the opening cinematic soon, and Doomsday is now confirmed. That's worth being happy/satisfied about.

I honestly don't know why they even bother wasting their time doing any sort of promotions like this, or why Boon does hints on his site. The community is filled with people that just "cheat" the system so to speak. So it's kind of pointless.

What it comes down to, we always get what we want sooner rather than later after this stuff is announced. So I don't see the big deal. No reason to start throwing fits or whining, just because it didn't go as planned. Just because people weren't allowed to fill up the bar within the first 12 hours.

The thing to take away, I guess...because I tend to be positive and optimistic, is that we DID get Doomsday confirmed, and we will be getting the opening cinematic very soon. Which I am extremely excited for. They always make fantastic opening cinematics (Deadly Alliance, Deception, Shaolin Monks, Armageddon, MK9's story etc.). So we're in for some awesomeness soon. Doesn't need to be RIGHT NOW.

I think you're kinda missing the reason people are thinking Gamestop screwed this up. The bar hasn't slowly filled up. No. Near as I can tell, no one has had their bar go past the initial part. I don't know what Gamestop is playing at, but it's annoying.

No, I got that. I have been following the progress since this news first went up. I am just saying, it's not THAT big of deal. They likely didn't expect it to go crazy on the first day. Give it time. While waiting, focus on the positives of we now know Doomsday is confirmed, and the cinematic is going to be shown soon(when they get it fixed). I prefer to focus on what we have, than what we don't. Even still, I don't see why people are acting like the world is ending because Gamestop messed up the timing/functionality of THEIR promotion. It'll be OK.

Being a sane and reasonable person, I don't use Facebook.

So this whole thing is going pretty much fine for me.
