While it is important for a fighting game to have a strong netcode, at the end of the day it really comes down to your connection and internet service. A game can have a great netcode, but if you have a poor connection it won't matter.

True but I play sf online with little change at all. MK is drastically different

This. Connection should not be an issue unless yours is REALLY bad.

Also no matter how good your connection is there will always be frame data changes or lag, because the perfect connection does not exist.

This whole connection thing is utter bullshit. Not sure about PS3 but Xbox live barely uses up any download as long as you have like 20-30 ping you should be absolutely fine. If your consistently getting a bad connection, if its match to match its likely their connection. I have matches where i barely noticed any major issues with connectivity when playing people from america.

TL/DR unless your internet blows scary ass it shouldnt effect you hugely, and download doesnt come into it a lot, only ping.

One of the worst aspects of MK9 online is the lack of regional matchmaking. I'm tired of getting matched up with people from Central or South America and Europe. Hopefully in MK10/Injustice they'll give you the ability to just play in your region.

Thats why i hate the Lao's, they actually think they are good... Its just their character abuses lao to a rather silly degree..

i dont think its as appauling as most people do,i can usually get a decent connection with anyone in europe.it helps if you only play with people you know,playing randoms is really frustrating especially when their dicks too.for instance someone sent me a voice message the other day asking me "if my mom enjoyed the fart that he just dropped into her mouth?" i mean how the fuck do these idiots even afford a internet connection? saying that though i was nearly crying laughing for about a hour so maybe playing random pricks isnt so bad afterall.

MK online is utter trash. Just by hearing the beginning of the match you already know you're in for a world of shit.
Normal MK: Round 1..FIGHT!
Online MK: Round 1..............................................................................................................................................................................FIGHT!
Frame data doesn't exist online, certain characters are overpowered with lag, and others are downright unplayable with lag. Forget counterpoking, teching throws, Anti airing or doing anything you can do offline. I remember one time I was playing as Kung Lao a long time ago and some dude with Noob Saibot double uppercuted my armored teleport. I have never sever seen that before. It was a superfast double uppercut. The frame data online gets all messed up. I'm sure it's different online vs offline. Bottom line is MK online = UNPLAYABLE GARBAGE.

Surely if he uppercutted you just as you were teleporting and then ducked under your attack with the second uppercut that is completely viable

No No thats not what happened. He was ducking/crouched midscreen and had very little health left. So from midscreen I did an armored teleport. While I popped up on the otherside, he did an uppercut from the crouch position then the game lagged and he did another uppercut. He pulled off 2 uppercuts before I even touched the ground. He literally uppercutted me out of the armor lol.

I also remember once I was playing as Ermac against a Sonya. The Sonya got me stuck in a lag trap I couldn't get out of. It was her front 4 mid kick. I tried d3, d1, and jumping out of it after blocking them but his front 4 would always beat me out. I would just get hit again and would be forced to block the next f4. It was inescapable with the lag.

Yes Online is ass. Its almost impossible to poke out, AA or freakn punish kung lao's teleport 3. I sometimes just use online as a way to learn some MU sience people will pick random ass characters.

Yea hopefully injustice' s netcode is better but I'm not keeping my hopes up. before MK dropped NRS said that they had been working on the netcode for over a year and that it was going to be amazing. They couldn't even get it right after a bunch of patches. If they have the same team working on it I'm not expecting much. I also only own a ps3, xbox died on me so by default it's going to be worse because of the PSN. I played MK online before on the xbl and compared to the PSN, it was better, although still terrible. MK on the PSN is beyond adjectives.

I don't know what the deal is on the PSN but its been pretty bad for many games I've played. Maybe since its free the servers aren't as great, or perhaps there are more wireless people on it. I don't know.

It can certainly get bad, and yes even for characters that are deemed "lag tier". When Kung Lao's spin can be stuffed with a JiP you know theres a problem.

For me MK plays better on PSN, I don't know why. It's still bad though. I hope IGAU online play is better, but you raise a good point. Everyone is excited about the online training mode, but if the net code isnt better all we'll be doing is leveling up to play online. For me to spend money to travel to tournaments it will need good netplay. Its why I dont travel to MK tournaments. I have no one to play offline so I'm not gonna lose money to have my back blown out.

That is why I changed my mind. I can AA fine except for crossup aa's. Even reversing inputs on a special move causes me to get blown up. Crossups are op online because we only have a 50% chance of punishing them.

I would also like point out players with a poor connection that use Raiden make him broken. Theres a guy named Jackman on PSN that can immediately sweep, superman, or do a string right after a tele. I know Raidens tele is punishable, but I cant even d1 without getting combod first. It's sickening.

Yup. I was playing SFIV online and was able to do everything the same as offline. Then I put in MK and got sick lol. Immediately put SF back in. I may just Redbox IGAU to check the online quality before I buy. If MK is laggy can you imagine with stage transitions etc. etc? There will be a lot to process.

It really isn't that bad unless you have or are playing someone that has bad internet... I.E. people using wifi connections or people without a suitable upload speed for multiplayer gaming. (The later being the worst offender)

All the "you can't do that offline" , "lag abuse", etc ... is just a way for people to blame their losses on something other than them making mistakes.

I'm sorry, but quit making excuses about online when you lose a match. It's fucking annoying. Take your loss and learn.
