It really isn't that bad unless you have or are playing someone that has bad internet... I.E. people using wifi connections or people without a suitable upload speed for multiplayer gaming. (The later being the worst offender)

All the "you can't do that offline" , "lag abuse", etc ... is just a way for people to blame their losses on something other than them making mistakes.

I'm sorry, but quit making excuses about online when you lose a match. It's fucking annoying. Take your loss and learn.
Except those are all viable excuses. When someone nutpunches me and hits me with an UNBLOCKABLE 11 F3, I have an excuse. I dont use it,because its online and meaningless anyway. There is no reason to use excuses because frankly, it means nothing to lose to someone online. All you can do is improve your tactics and play like you would play offline, to try and not pick up bad habits.

d3, b312, d3 b312.......as p2. I try really hard not to do shit like this, cuz I get blown the fuck up at casuals for at least 45min until my 'offline' brain kicks in.

I wish I knew someone that was as interested in MK9 as I am in my local area. Online is all I have unfortunately and I wasted all that play time in Ranked match. I played player match the other day and realised how terrible I really am. I got a few close wins but the rest were just painful.

Then why whine about... I can't do this, I can't do that? Less excuses, more leveling up.
I didnt. What I actually said was, instead of worrying about what you can/can't do online, just play if like offline and level up your tactics.

I was talking about the excuses in my original post...

It wasn't necessarily directed at you. Only if you make the same excuses. lol

you learn to read. :p

I think some people have a legitimate excuse to whine. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a competetive offline scene, so their only way to level up is either playing online, or playing against the A.I.

Another problem MK has is the lack of a viable training mode. You can't even hop in the training mode and test what works or not. The training mode is glitched out. All that I know is that there is no way in hell I'm wasting money and time to travel to a tournament hundreds of miles away to get bodied by people that play offline on a consistent basis and have a competetive offline scene (VSM, the Cali people, ATL etc.) It gets discouraging after a while.

I played some ranked yesterday and this may be the basis for the online hate. I played a scorp who teleported nonstop and i couldnt punish i:tON BLOCK the lag was so bad. Im never touching ranked again. Ill stick to playing people from here i now i can connect to.

I don't think online itself is that bad provided you can learn from it, it's just that trying to transition from how you'd play offline to online gets really irritating really quickly.

huh? I've been playing online the last few days and I have to admit there is a significant difference from offline. I wire my PS3 before I hop online and still notice absurd things like, connecting a d4 thats +12 on hit and then I get crossed up for a full combo when I attempt to follow up the d4. Frame data can be altered online and I dont like that. Finding someone with a compatible connection is like playin Russian roulette. With that said, I can find it difficult to sicerely level up online.

I'm just now realizing just how detrimental online can be towards tournament performances. It got to a point where Noobe and Gross were both like "Yeah I can tell you play online a lot, because you're timing is off, you jump too much, etc. etc." I really feel like online and offline are two different games. As I said in a text chat to my klan mates, "MK9 online is called MK8.5". But while going to that tournament I did learn that there is a small scene where I live so I'll be leveling up with a few top players. What my point is people that are alone unfortunately have no choice but to use online and it sucks. Though you can meet some pretty cool people online too.

If you want to play high level Mortal Kombat, then you will need essential tools such as; frame data. I played an Ermac the other day and I blocked his d3 so I'm thinking okay well he's at -11 on block so I'll just go in with Jax's f4... because it's 8 frames, so why right after it was Ermac still able to connect his lift?! It gets pretty mind-boggling just how frame data just disappears from online. Meh but it's shruggable I suppose.

*sigh* So I really don't know how to start this off so I'm try my best.So a couple of hours ago I was playing against a friend of My's (Deathtracker) on psn and (for lack of a better word)destroy him in a mirror match of Sub-Zero (we both main him). Now don't give me wrong I've seen him play in some KOTH, he's pretty good. After those sets of matches i told him good games and left, afterwards i thought bout the matches and i felt like it was a chore/work that i want to finish as quickly as possible and that feeling has been going on for about two weeks now.Can someone please tell me what I am going through cause I love MK very much, first fighting game that i feel like I'm actually good at.

I rarely play MK anymore because the online is too laggy and unplayable. Playing vs. the AI gets boring quick and the small offline scene where I live is dreadful. I put my MK in the collecting dust shelf and moved on. Maybe you're gettin bored of it or getting bored of playin the same person. Maybe the online experience is whats bothering you.

You probably just need a break. If a game becomes a chore to finish matches, you need to step away from it most likely and do something else.

Whether it's playing a new game, working on another hobby/sport etc.

Honestly, I usually only play MK on the weekends and the fun factor of not playing it much helps me enjoy the game a lot. You probably will enjoy the game more if you focus on it less I'd wager :).
