Do you think Injustice will have a larger fan-base in the America's or..?

Contact blocking is a compromise for both sides of the fence, and an ingenious way to satisfy both people who mostly play SF/KOF/etc, and those who mostly play MK. Obviously, because the former games have back for blocking, holding a block button is extremely unnatural for them. HOWEVER, players of MK are more accustomed to being able to maneuver themselves away from the opponent without block animations triggering for simply holding back as the opponent whiffs things. As such, IGAU combines these two attributes together.

This is actually REALLY huge for the footsies department of the game. Most games that have contact blocking are 3D games with VERY slow walk speeds. As a result, whiffing is huge in this game because it is just as easy to force as in MK9, but with a lot less risk for misjudging ranges or getting caught with your pants down and fingers off of blocking. It actually helps MK9 players transition to the new blocking without removing something they're totally accustomed to. Meanwhile, other players aren't caught off guard with a block button and a lack of traditional crossups. And overall, it promotes spacing a lot.

This is actually a really, really good change if you understand everything this causes.
Exactly about the footsies. Footsies won't be like MK9, and they won't be like SF4. I'm pretty sure they will be like ST, can't remember if that has proximity block or not. But yeah, MK9 only players ironically will be more accustomed to the footsies with the block system compared to the SF4 only players. SF4 players will be more used to the back to block, MK9 players will be more used to the footsies. And players like me who play both will destroy everyone, lol! Seriously though, I think players like you, me, CD Jr, and whoever else plays a lot of FG's or specifically MK9 and SF4 will have a huge advantage in Injustice. Which means Chris G will dominate imo, PL too.

ST has proximity blocking, so essentially the footsies are close to one-of-a-kind in IGAU. I don't know any other 2D fighters with contact blocking.

I think whoever is good in whatever games they play have a good shot, but those that play a wider variety of fighting games will probably be stronger as a whole.

Pretty much why I said my pick is likely Chris G for best player. He plays them all, he's just a solid player all around and he is not only tight on combo input, but reads and reactions in ANY game. He'll no doubt have little to adjust to in this game compared to others and he beasts pretty hard at the games he digs into. He seems to want to come into this one pretty strong so I am pretty confident he will be a threat...especially given how good he is with space control characters that let him control the pace of the match like Green Arrow.
