I used to hate fighting online derptiles, but with CSZ I can punish a blocked elbow with 11 ice ball. CSZ standing 1 is 9 frames. I can't seem to punish it with Kanos standing 1 which is 9 frames, but I can punish a blocked elbow with upball (8 frames). Once you start punishing these scrubs spamming elbows, they fall to pieces. Generally, a good normal or special falling under the 9 or less frame mark, should be enough to punish that crap.
Kano's 1 isn't 9 frames. It's like 11 or 12, I believe.

There it is...
Lao is joke online. Teleport unpunishable except for uppercuts on a lot of characters and even then it derps sometimes. He gets out of shit he shouldnt with the spin. His up close is better than it should be. Trying to blok to his divekick derps 24/7

Unfortunately the code really IS that bad, if you play another fighting game with good code it becomes painfully obvious.

I have been grabbed after doing the F33exFB trap with Cage, before following up with another F3. Lol..online.

The online maybe a big swift kick to the balls with a frozen boot but its all we got :(
Really it's just jump that fucks it all up, the priority on a jump punch instance seems to be the most indifferent between two connections. Some stages and characters don't work well either

maybe you need to upgrade your speed because I punish this just fine with D1 into combos or forward dashes

I would definitely agree that it can suck at times.but people need to realize that everyone don't have that luxury of having a brother(s),cousins, friend, offline scene accessible to them.It really depends on the mindset you have when you do play online and how much time you spend offline.I play just for matchup experience. If I want to get comfortable using my secondary character different matchups,I go online because I have no other way in doing so.I don't worry about doing all the AA's and strict timely combos and stuff online because I know that it will be inconsistent and if I do land them it would be hard to do offline.I just work on all that offline. As far as playing certain people,I pretty much know which are respectable and the one's who are not but I do play people on my friends list occasionally.I even bought this game on ps3 to play certain people who don't own a 360.

This is where I'm lost. I've seen all the things listed happen to other players online, but it's rarely happened to me. I can apply frame data, anti air, and even punish Lao's teleport lol. Maybe it's because I play the same people on my friends list that I have a solid connection to.

LBSH you can't expect to play Ranked and have a good connection to everyone lol. It's like that in all fighting games. In SCV if I played someone with a weak connection it shown.

One word for people who complain about online play - EXCUSES
Not all the time. I pretty much beat everyone online except for a couple and when I win I still say online sucks or ill msg my opponent and tell them its laggy. Whenever I beat ppl with mileena I tell them it's mileena and she's bs online which is all true

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
Maybe at EVO he thinks he is playing online and mashes two well-known directional buttons to the victory, kappa.
I didn't know 2,4,low hat included any directional inputs.

In other news, Mileena and Raiden are still top 5.

People blowing up PL again? You guys should go back and re watch EVO from last year. He doesn't randomly teleport like people claim lol. When he attempts a crossover he waits to see if you're baiting with a d1 then will tele at the last second. Same with divekick...he'll crossover/divekick to whiff punish you. Pay attention.

It's what you make of it. I have great e-friends with good connections and try to emulate offline play as much as I can. Because of this I get blown up a lot by randoms abusing lag tactics. This gives me a greater loss than win record. IDGAF.

On my shitty 3 meg down/.5 meg up connection and living in Japan, I can play American players on DoA5, albeit with a considerable amount of lag. At least I can get a game connected and started every time. Sometimes the lag isn't really that bad either.

With that same connection in MK9, I can't even get a game started 90% of the time. It will almost always drop at the character select screen or right before the round starts. The game is literally unplayable online for me nearly all of the time.

It is that bad.

I see people on this glorious website day in, day out complaining about playing online. "It's too laggy." "You can't do that offline." etc. etc. Can it really be that bad? Our back to back EVO champ plays exclusively online until tournaments. If it's that bad how can one rely on crappy netcode then go out and win the biggest tournament of the year...twice!?!!?

Discuss.
Yes it can really be that bad. But you have to understand what online is for if you want to get any use out of it. Online is for practice and match-up experience, that's it. It's not the best practice or the best way to learn match-ups, but it's the quickest and most convenient. Playing people online will allow you to play against a vast variety of characters and playstyles where you more than likely wouldn't be able to compete against locally. The problem is people tend to take online too seriously, thus the constant complaints about lag. This isn't the only reason you see complaints about lag, sometimes it just gets too frustrating so you have to vent about it. But some practice and experience, even if it's watered down, is better than none at all. You can become the best player in the world playing online. The only thing you can't do is PROVE your the best player BY playing online. The only way to prove that is playing at tournaments OFFLINE.

I agree about proving yourself 110% with offline play. I'm just saying it cant be too bad if someone can win EVO while mostly playing human opponents online.

Its good for matchup experience and experiencing new playstyles

It is NOT good for working on fundamentals and playing to win(If you play against a regular online player, you probably will lose if you play like offline. Just keep playing like offline and lose, better in the long run).

If you know how to discern what actually works offline, online is a good tool. PL also does get some offline experience from time to time.
