When the people are disarmed and become "PowerLess" the new goverment, now represented not by the people, but by the police forces, moneyed interests and corporate power structures... As for your question What possible situtation would the goverment have for taking over its own country, well just look how much the definition of freedom has changed since 1959 in this country. As soon as civil rights and antiwar protests swept this country.. We had the death of the "liberal" president JFK, the Kent state shootings of peacefull student protest's, MK ultra Cointelpro, numerous latin american coups that our elected government never voted for...It seems as soon as the peaseants got uppity,"the powers that be' decided it was now time to take over our country... I mean just look at this countrys history since 1959...
Drugs and guns are two different categories. You can't shoot people with drugs lol. But, drugs shouldn't be illegal, they should be regulated. All kinds of drugs. The illegality of drugs are what make it so bad. The people should be able to go to clinics for free and get rid of their addiction.

Well, they shouldn't be punished for being addicted to the substances. They should be consoled and helped. If they weren't afraid of being arrested and shit, they would be able to get help. And i'm not talking about rehab, shit that actually works.

But the thing is, Things like heroin are illegal for that exact purpose, for being so addictive and how it affects your body. The point is they broke the law and should be punished AFTER they get help. If your not a idiot there should be no problem avoiding heroin or other substances of the sort.
