Alright guys, I'm trying to get in on this seen with yall. I live in the woodlands but am totally cool driving to houston every so often. Anyone wanna organize a fest? I could do it at my house if my parents are out of town at the time, or if someone has an apartment we could do it then. Eitherway, it'll be cool if we can just get a bunch of us together and have a mini tourney or something. In fact, if we get it goin, we can try to start working on an mk tourny scene here. I know that Xyro (SSBB pro) hosts smash tournies in houston all the time. I could try and contact him and see if we could combine the scenes.

Eitherway, someone fill me in on what the scene has been recently, and we can start figuring some stuff out.

Friggen yes we do. I don't know of any prolific houston kombatants, and we're one of the biggest cities in the US..... Smash had friggen gnes, razer, xyro, smoom, all these crazy good players. I'm sure if we can get a scene going a good few of us will be able to start competing in the big leagues in some time.

Check it out, I used to do the smash tourney scene quite a bit. I was never very tight with the group because, frankly, I wasn't good enough to justify going to all the tourneys and going to hang with the crowd, and it was a long way to get there. I would be able to contact the TO for the houston scene, and surely he would open to adding MK to the roster of games they have at their tournys, if they haven't already added it. In fact, i'll be back with an edit once I take a look.

I went ahead and sent a message to Xyro. They normally do smash tournaments once a month, or every other month. Most of the time they get around 60 people to compete, and this is the same guy who ran the WHOBO tournaments. If you dont know what that is, whobo is the world houston organized brawl whatever thing. The best players in the world show up at this thing every year, and they total in the hundreds as far as competitors. Xyro is an EXCELLENT TO, hopefully he will allow us to start sharing the venue, in which case we will get a chance at a great venue, and, assuming some of you are interested, we can actually meet/watch/play some of the best super smash brothers players in the US. Houston has a great representation.

Just so you know, Xyro generally asks for venue fee, and entry fee, normally equaling roughly 15 dollars.

If anything, the only way we're gonna get our houston scene going is by organizing. If he lets us join, then great. If not, I'm sure it won't be difficult to find a venue to rent. Every who enters pitches in a bit, and we can do monthly big tournies and weekly gatherings somewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he accepts us, Xyro really is fantastic at what he does. And yeah, I will definitely be there tomorrow night. I'm excited.

The ps3 dpad is better anyway. Just show up early so you can take a second to use a dpad at the store. I'm sure they will have controllers, and I wouldn't be surprised if you liked it better for mortal kombat anyway.
