Which is precisely why all these players who think Kenshi is top three don't go over all of his match-ups in depth. They just look at Pig have success and think the character will automatically do that for them. I believe Kenshi is a top six character. But characters like Kabal, Kung Lao, and Sonya / Freddy have it better than him as far as tournament viability goes.
I was the first player to call out the "Kenshi is #2" bandwagon and I'm glad it got exposed hard.
dont get me wrong, i think freddy is broken as shit.... but you think freddy is more viable??? isnt kabal pretty much a 7-3 for freddy too, freddy might outzone him but 1 buzzsaw and your in and freddy is forced to guess too much with his zoning? smoke is like the lao to freddy's kenshi...... you really think a character with the armor and rushdown tools of kenshi loses 8-2 to lao?? i figured kabal would be a worst matchup.... because of the zoning/meterbuilding/hitbox/kabal wrecks everyone's face?
doesnt sonya have 2-3 7-3's between kabal kenshi and freddy similarly to kenshi and freddy's matchups (i think freddy loses to smoke hard, kabal hard, lao 6-4, possibly a counter zoner like raiden or mileena but if dave thinks those are even then they probably are arguably in freddy's favor) albeit ive heard some players say sonya goes 6-4 with kenshi which i can see the argument for, ive heard gamerblake wrecks that matchup.
kung lao and sonya and even freddy dont have as many lopsided matchups as kenshi either...
kenshi loses to lao and kabal hard, possibly smoke and reptile(6-4), possibly freddy (and i've heard cyrax but u could make a case either way depending on your opinions on a char who gets outzoned by cage) and goes even with noob and shang and i think the rest hes sitting pretty.
the only one without really really bad matchups is lao, and he loses possibly to cage and sonya and kitana and maybe cyrax, and to kabal atleast 6-4(though im a maniac and argue kabal only has one 6-4 and that is reptile)
my point is both freddy and sonya has their share of bad matchups too, and kenshi has some serious lopsided ness (not they all of the top tiers dont)
i dont necessarily agree with cyrax's placement in the same category as the above mentioned characters, then again he is hard to quantify...
i also am curious about raiden because i think he has quite a few challenging matchups..
