On my stream, commentary is a go. But videos I record directly from my PVR, uhmmmmm...not sure how I can integrate my voice into them.
if you record from your pvr, you can replay them and add input via a microphone, just talking about what was going through your head, or things that you learned in the fight. Think of it as "dubbing" a silent film.

Yeah, someone mentioned something like that, though I haven't messed around with it. Maybe I will tonight.

How do you do it when you stream?

If you're using xsplit, I'm pretty sure it has an option to record locally instead of streaming. So you can probably just set it up the exact same way, but just record it and upload to youtube from there. I don't know if that's the best way, but it should work

If you do that, and if you try to keep the videos less than an hour I'll subscribe :p.
But long videos are fuuuuuuun! :D

...though that is why I split them into half-hour segments if they are indeed that long. I look back at that two-hour video I uploaded and I'm like, "Maaaaaan, I dunno if even I can handle that, haha!"

With XSplit, I merely set up my audio settings so that my webcam transfers my voice to the ears of the stream viewers. :)

I'm waiting for my new laptop to come in this Christmas so I'll have godlike quality for my stream rather than this shitty garbage.

Yes, the biggest thing with youtube videos and dollars earned is QUANTITY. Got an hour long video? Split it into 10 or 15-minute segments. That way people can digest bits at a time, and you get views/likes on 4-6x as many things. Should be beneficial I'd think.

^ +1 and you can make a playlist with them, or I think there was a feature that allows to create "one video" with segments so that it can play it as a whole or just the bits as desired.

Yeah, you can do it with xsplit then. Just set it up exactly like you would when you're streaming but hit the 'local recording' option instead of your twitch.tv channel under the broadcast menu. Works just like when you stream but saves the file to your computer instead of broadcasting it. If you need to edit it any further you'll need another program, though. Windows movie maker is free and really easy to use

About the commentary thing, I am sort of mixed on the idea now. Whereas there are those of us who love to hear hype commentary added to the heat of battle, I know there are others who feel it distracts them too much from the action and they'll be all like, "Someone shut this guy up!"

So...I'm wondering how to reach a compromise there. I want to step up the entertainment level, but not to the point where it annoys people...

Here's some advice:
Don't make so many videos. It overwhelms people. I know you're thinking, "but the more videos i have the more content people will be able to watch and thus i'll get more views!". This however usually isn't the case, because people don't have time to watch so many videos. Personally, i'd go with 1 or 2 videos a week (Which you may or may not do, i'm not sure). Most people don't go on youtube everyday and sit for hours watching videos, so when they see that they've missed your past 10 videos or they see all the updates from your uploaded videos they might feel overwhelmed.

TL;DR quality > quantity.

Just my 2cents.

EDIT: Yeah, definitely add commentary. It's much more inviting and makes the viewer feel more involved.

EDIT2.0: Also, you can just record yourself during whatever you're doing via a sound recorder on your computer and sync it to your video after you record it. That seems like the simplest way, i think.

I don't think I've been uploading more than one or two videos per week, unless the extra ones are pretty small (like for combos and tech). Thanks for the advice, of course.

If it helps, I'll start liking every video of yours that is on my subscriber page.

As long as views come in, that will help as well. Thank you. :)

I thought you couldn't get youtube ad revenue from video game footage. That's what they told me a while ago shortly after inviting me to join their program.

I earn revenue on Gaming, so do thousands of other Youtube Directors. Sometimes Youtube will challenge your videos but most of them get put up for revenue.
Youtube makes more money that way.
