God damn, some of you people have no shame. Stop Tier whoring. Not only you're not gonna place anything higher than top 16 at best but you're making the entertainment side of the game fuckin boring. It's bad enough that almost everyone "thinks" if they pick-up Kabal they can "place" now everyone thinks Lao is all sick and shit. I hate seeing the same boring ass characters over and over and over again. This is why Detroit will always be my favorite player to watch, the man has style.

IMO learn from DoctrineDark and push your favorite character to a degree that others will think "damn this character must be top 10" regardless of how many difficulties you have to over come in order to evolve.

Half the community thinks the game's retarded, and let's give him the benefit of the doubt he might do well with kenshi. Just let him play the game.
Yeah, players/fans should learn to think, and educate themselves instead of just bashing stuff or blindly supporting stuff. I used to bash Ed, NRS, MK9 a lot, but I try not to do it because I've learned that they really do work hard to try to put out a quality game on schedule. I have a lot of issues with 2d MK and MK9, but it's silly to think that the NRS crew can be perfect. They can do better, and I'm sure they feel the same way, but they'll never be perfect. On the other hand, it's just as silly to overlook some major issues with the game, and pretend like the game is perfect, or to just overall suck off NRS. Anyway, bashing them doesn't help NRS learn anything, and blind support doesn't help them either. Constructive criticism is the key, with the ultimate goal simply being a better game.

I'm excited to see what Chris G can do.

So much salt over this chrisg thing, on the bright side at least the shit talking/drama is being pointed at someone outside of TYM and not at each other.....

I love Chris G because he sets the line between the real good and mediocre tourny players in the community. If you can beat Chris G, you're officially a good player.

The part that gives me questions is this:

1) Kenshi as a character requires some of the most patience of any character in the game (in high-level play). His zoning is great, but any rushed projectile in the wrong place will get you blown up, and a lot of his normals recover slowly enough to send you packing if you use them in an ill-advised spot.

A reptile player can oftentimes dash out of trouble, or just put balls on the screen -- but a kenshi player really has to be incredibly focused and only use the right projectile at the right time.

2) A Kenshi player has to be highly salt-resistant.. Because getting blown up for mistiming something is one of the more salt-inducing experiences in the game. Because of his defensive zoning-tank style, he requires keeping a cool head when pressured and not giving in to rash impulses (otherwise, see what happens to every other Kenshi out there).

Soo.. Can a guy known to dash 15 times a second, waste meter on a whim for 21% combos, and become dangerously salty after the majority of losses master such a Zen-style character?

Hmmm....

Chris G is good at being patient when needed. He's a smart player. Reptile is a character that's based on overwhelming your opponent so that's why Chris G plays like that.

You put it a lot better than I did. I think that will be his really big problem. He's arming himself with a character that can force most of the cast to eventually jump at him if the Spirit Charge is used properly, as well as build crazy meter and chip on anyone trying to come in. The flipside to that is you can't just throw that shit out there or all of a sudden you'll wind up losing one of those 8-2 MU's.

This is the greatest news ever. Chris G still dominates average to decent mk players off of no practice, scary to think what he could do with a little practice. Remember Chris adapts faster then 90% of this community, give it some time and I could see him as a top player.

Chris plays Morrigan in Marvel, as well as Reptile in UMK3. He's not unfamiliar with having to be patient at times.

He dashes 15 times a second because nobody really kills him for it.

I feel you, I thought about that too; but Morrigan is a much diff. character due to how much stuff she can put on the screen at any given time (more in line with freddy/reptile). Wheras Kenshi is about making each specific projectile a read -- you screw up a single one, and it could be curtains.

Not saying that either Morrigan, Freddy, or Reptile is braindead, or that you can get away with sheer spam.. But Kenshi seems to require the utmost concentration for every single thing you decide to throw out.

people calling Marvel 3 "mash happy 3" when chris g and fchamp are dominating. Two people who play teams that don't mash at all and counter braindead rushdown. Seriously?

Chris G is definitely a high level SF4 player. He has beaten dieminion and santhrax multiple times at Big2. You can't name a more dominant overall FG NA player outside ChrisG and Justin Wong.

Also very natural for Chris G to pick a zoning character. He wants to nullify the random dumb shit that rushdown can do.

edit
Chris G probably won't dominate but he'll definitely hit top 8 multiple times (as he done so in the past as well).

Good sir, I don't think your giving Chris g enough credit. Just because he plays a kinda rush down reptile doesn't mean he'll do the same with kenshi. He happens to be a very patient defensive player. In almost every game I've seen him play, he is pretty dominant because of his patience and great fundamentals

Alright -- when you see Chris G at the next tournament doing a 3-bar 17% rushdown combo with Kenshi, we'll laugh about this and have a drink :p

In all fairness though, nothing against CG.. I'm just curious to see how this turns out.
