I can't just stick with the same style though...i was gonna go Ogre, but he feels somewhat similar to Jinpachi...

Pardon my ignorance about labelling Baek/Hwoarang as clones, I went to training mode as them and took a closer look. I just personally don't really care for either of them.

So, I was playing in training mode with this guy who was nice enough to add me, he said he had +10 years experience in Tekken. He was rushing me down and keeping me against the wall and I felt like I couldn't do much apart from the occasional jab punishes. He just reacted so quickly to everything and was mixing it up really well and I kept getting slaughtered.... Then I remembered I was playing a 3D fighter and tried to start sidestepping into sidestepping attacks and sidestepping into short sidewalks+normal attacks and I was blown away by the effectiveness of doing this. What I learned from that session was that Lee's strings are somewhat easy to sidestep and punish, Jun has better tracking though and hers are not so easy to sidestep and punish.

This all leads me to the question of different leaping attacks like Steve's and Miguel's (Obus) Superman punches and all sorts of fF(x) and fff(x) attacks that have no white streaks/360 tracking properties assigned to them.

Is there a general rule of thumb regarding all these? For example if someone is going for a forward lunging mid with a forward trajectory (no horizontal sweeping motion of limbs or rotation of the character itself) that is hard or impossible to punish on block, can I make them whiff by timing a sidestep into a sidewalk or better yet, by just sidewalking on default when they are at range?

I cant see anything much better than making some1 whiff in this game, so thats why I base nearly my entire gameplay around it.

Just applying the same strategies I used in MK to bait whiffs works in TTT2 as well, its at least made me capable of going head to head with players like Sakishiro. All I need to do is learn matchups and hopefully pick up tricks for my own characters as I go along.

Knee playing Bryan... so godlike. He just walks up to people and hits them with a taunt - jet uppercut consistently.

Do you guys know any good channels on youtube for high level TTT2 play?

Apparantly Feng has some very powerful punishes. He doesnt look very flash, but a massive amount of his pokes and strings are really good. I might invest a bit of time into him myself soon.

The Tekken series needs more serious characters like Feng and not ridiculous shit like Lars and Bob. Those two just look plain ridiculous, one looks like he should be in a Final Fantasy RPG and the other....ugh, yes, we get it, lets make a really obese guy one of the fastest characters in the game...yeah, how funny, ironic and retarded.

Is it me or has Tekken become more obsessed with comedy and the devil gene since Tekken 3?Heihachi used to be a bad ass and he's just comic relief in his TT2 and SF x Tk endings.

I do really like Tekken, its an awesome game, but I wish I had the same dark feeling as Tekken 2 did. Things I don't like.

Kangaroos and dinosaurs in a fighting game
Pandas and Bears
Cakes on heads
Guns as items
Snoop Dog/Lion
Alisa i.e. robots, including Jack variants
Devils to some extent. Wings just look stupid imo
Pointless customization items

I'm loving the game in general though, the netcode, the music, backgrounds, depth etc. are all great. Its just all a bit too Japanese for my taste sometimes.

I'll have to try out Feng then. At least he looks like he belongs in the game.

Namco needs to stop with mixing in goofy endings in a serious fighter. It in no way makes any sense to me.

4 of those things exist in Tekken 2, btw. And a number of endings are just as comical as now.

The plot pretty much went to shit after Tekken 4. I still think Jinpachi is one of the lamest, tacked on bosses in fighting game history.
"oh by the way guys, here's Heihachi's dad, who's been sleeping under a temple for the last 25 years and has now been resurrected, by an explosion of Jack units, complete with an angelfish's mouth in his stomach so that he doesn't at least look completely like his son."
The whole World War III angle proposed for Tekken 6 got interrupted by a DBZ reject and Paul has no business being a comedy character. It's dumb.

But to be fair, Bob was pretty original (albeit kinda inspired by Bam Bam Bigelow) with the "fat athletic guy" gimmick. When Capcom coined the idea with Rufus in SF4, yeah it pretty much went overkill.

Yes, this game has a lot of Japanese feel to it. But seriously, cake in the face? I think it's just a stupid thing. I know people will say "its a game, you should have fun" but at least there wasn't this level goofiness in MK or even Street Fighter to some extent. Tonight im getting rinsed in Ranked as usual and I came really close to winning one game, and this Nina character pulls a gun, I side step, TWICE, she fires and im still hit. Why does shit like that have to be in the game? And I dont know how, but everyone I seem to fight is 80% wins and up, I mean where are all the people getting trashed for me to fight? No one wants to seem to help you in the Tekken community, they just plow through you as if they were on the verge of beating Knee himself.

I dont mind Roger and Alex to a degree, always thought the bears were dumb, I find Alisa, Lars and Bob dumb designs as well. And seriously, Sebastion doing combos....

Guys, if there is anyone on XBox that will play me sometime, i'd appreciate it, I need someone to help me out. I might give my X Box a rest for now, twice one of my fights ended tonight with my X Box going into red ring which has alarmed me. Always comes back on but I hope it's not on it's way out now.

It is just me or, Forrest is actually more easy to use than marshal?
He also seems to be slightly faster

Couldnt agree more .Jinpachi is just Namcos attempt at making an Akuma like character. I wish, wish, WISH they just kept the whole Devil thing with Kazuya. Jin is so emo in this. Heihachi used to be cool.....hahhaha, lol, Brits having a good whinge, it's what we're best at.

Crathen Skkra , any tips on how to deal with Kunimitsu and Zafina using the Kings? Their small hitboxes make it really hard for these guys to seemingly do anything.

DR. B sounds like a ridiculous addition, it would be like adding Blankas mother to the Street Fighter universe, but who is Junknow?

I don't have kunimistu yet , however i know the zafina MU and yeah she's a bitch when she enters Tarantula stance , a good amount of mids / all highs are crushed by it so stick using quick moves with decent low hitbox , i don't know what King can do exactly but i recall him having very mediocre mids in the low hitbox department so find out what works on her , even a standard d/b+4 is okay just to hit her out of the stance , play defense , eventually she's lose the momentum.
Her lows have decent range but they're commonly launch punishable at range 0/1 , if not simply ws+4 , what's your general problems with her?

I'd help ya but i'm on PSN... dang guys why ya bought TTT2 for Xbox , it's a gigantic desert tekken-wise

I've found A.King can deal with her a little easier but only a little easier. If I can launch her or knock her down and get in, I have a chance, but it's when she goes into that low stance, that both Kings seem to really struggle and im forced to stay way back and try and hit with some low attacks, if she corners me against a wall, im practically dead. A. King has a bd2 which is quite a decent long range mid that you can also string into a kick but that seems to be the only effective poke.

I do feel like I need help at this game. I know im not great at this game, but im convinced im losing against players I shouldnt be. Do you know Super Maryo? He's an italian player i come across a lot, plays Asuka and Jun, he seems about the only player that seems to go a little easy on me to give me a chance. My X box crashed at the end of one of our matches and I dont want him to think I rage quit.
