I've rarely met the input bug. Worst one that happened to me was trying to do an EX Bicycle Kick, standing 4 came out. Though it was probably because I was rushing and didn't execute it properly.

You guys are all crazy.

Can I just say: When I'm playing as Nightwolf and I want to make use of his awesomely-fast uppercut.. but then a reflect comes out and I get punished.. that's annoying.

Those have got nothing to do with the input bug, that's just bad execution or online lag. The input bug only has to do with pressing down and a button and then getting the standing version of that button instead.

I don't see how people are actually debating whether this exists, it was proved ages ago in that thread. A lot of us have seen it happen regularly and have had it happen to us. And even the likes of Tom Brady has talked about it when it was starting to become more widely known. It's real, but as said, it's been confirmed that there is nothing that can be done about it, so you just have to work hard to do you best to avoid it. However fact is, if I press down and a button, I should get the resulting down move, getting a standing move after having held down shouldn't happen, therefore it is a bug.

I get random inputs at times; some can be blamed on the "input bug" others can be negative edge or simply myself.

Ermac and Cyrax are very solid imho, I rarely get input errors with them. Mileena and Kenshi on the other hand.....

Mileena:

- Playing footsies mid-screen, I attempt to D4 the opponent and I'll roll.
- Tech rolling on knock down and attempting a D4 instantly results in a roll or standing 4.
- After neck bite combo ender, I'll try to check my opponent with a D4 and get a standing 4.

Kenshi:

Has some weird input errors if you play him too quickly but that rests entirely on the users shoulders. I love getting random reflects mid match which can cost me a nice chunk of my life bar.

I'm also on the same page with Pig Of The Hut regarding the shitty hardware. I've been using the same PS3 pad for a while now and it's in rough shape; the buttons are spongy and the d-pad is a f''ing disaster. There should be PS3 fighting game pads (wired / wireless) that are built to withstand a little more abuse. We're mashing the hell out of these things and don't think replacing hardware every couple of months makes a lot of sense.....except for the people $elling them.
 
I swear that this happens even on a pad pressing nothing but D+2. If that's not an input bug I dunno what is..

..also, I'm not dashing backwards beforehand either.

..wait, maybe my pad and stick are both broken? :/
 
The input bug definitely exists.

I know other people have pointed to sources proving this, but I remember one particular stream when Juicebox and Tom Brady replicated the bug several times.

It consisted of Juicebox and one other player in practice mode. The opponent was doing a Kung Lao block string on Juicebox whist Juicebox HELD down and would press 1. After a certian period of time, Juicebox would randomly stand up. I think they did this same process 2 or 3 times to illustrate its existence.

It's not user error, it exists and if NRS deny it, I am going to assume they're lying rather than naive. They are really talented individuals (I wish I had an inch of their talent) so I doubt they're not aware of it.

That being said, although the result we get is, "I get a standing 1" - it might not be an INPUT bug. It might be something entirely different. I don't know.

Like Pig said, I've never blamed a loss on it, and trust me, I've lost plenty.

I totally agree with you pig that it's just user error. I mean, I was told it was "tested", but how do you "test" an input bug?

Seems to me that the one players of my character (Sub Zero) seem to complain about it getting a standing 4 instead of a D4. I have ONLY gotten this "bug" when I try to dash in and then D4 the opponent. So what I think the input bug actually is is just the player inputting certain commands too fast or too slow. Say I would dash in and quickly hit D4... maybe I hit the 4 before I actually hit the down and so it would register as a dash in then 4. Or maybe I didn't push the down button firm enough...

I mean, there's all kinds of errors that can happen in the heat of a match. I've never gotten a standing 4 when I'm holding down to duck and trying to poke them.

Me and pig were talking on the phone and we both agree that shitty hardware and various monitors mixed with online is really to blame.

This was reproduced with a laptop; the immediate frame before DOES result in a poke, as does the immediate frame after. The test was done to show that as long as the input is exactly on that one bugged frame, it always results in a standing jab instead of the desired poke. The surrounding frames always result in a poke. This was done off-line in the practice room, so you can rule out that out.

Its seriously doubt its crappy monitors either; what you're suggesting is that instead of just lagging, certain monitors actually render frames out of order. I know things can be cheaply made, but that's quite a stretch of a claim, and unless there's proof there are monitors that do this, I say its much more likely to be an error in the game.

Now, that's not to say people aren't using it as an excuse as probably most people are, but for all the supposed bugs in this game, we actually do have a way to 100% reliably reproduce the issue. Honestly I don't know what to tell you if you refuse to believe the results of the test.

No matter what evidence there is, I'll continue to blame myself rather than a bug in the game. It's healthier all around.

No matter how much we believe in the input bug, frame data, or what ever else. There could be mistakes. Your telling me not one single frame of somberness frame data could be off?
