Pad vs Stick, and the advantages/disadvantages

Well, with me basically needing to learn stick and really wanting to learn stick... this will not be easy for me. When I was practicing Ermac combos at SJ w/ a pad I could get the combo's within a few tries, but now with a stick I'm either just a really slow learner or I have no patience... lol.

I can get up to Ermac's double teleport and then when I go for the teleslam I do a roundhouse 95% of the time or nothing, lol.

Basically, I made this thread to ask the people who are very good on a stick and a pad or just a stick... or even people who can use both.

Are there advantages/disadvantages, or just what you prefer?

In UMK3, you have to put in the input exactly as you're supposed to. What I mean by this is, if the command is [Back, Down, Back, HK] you cannot do [Back, Down Back, Down, Down Back, Back, HK]. So you can't roll the stick in a sense. So this could be your problem. When I switched to the analog I noticed this, so I'm assuming it's the same on an arcade stick.

You can roll the stick. For any kind of down, foward, or down back type of move I roll that stick like a baker rolling bread :)

I honestly even have a hard time always exxcuting his pop-up HK+LP... but that's part of the learning process I suppose.

Do it really fast. One button right after the other. Also If your running up to your opponent make sure you let go of run first.

I did this once successfully against the CPU, but after reading some on that guide RoGE posted... I'm gonna spend some time in "practice" mode first.

Throw out 50 projectiles on both sides of the screen, execute 50 teleslams in a row, etc... I think that's the smartest and best thing for me to do at this point...

Actually, first step for me is finding comfortable hand placement on the stick...

your hand after using a pad...

My hand don't look like that ^ lol

Depends on the pad, if you play on a 3shitty pad then yeah...lol but a good pad then there shouldn't be much of an issue.

I wonder if the stick ratio will go up since MK9 will offer the stick via TE.
