Yo, whats up?! I bought SC5 a few days, its awesome. Perfect game to mix with MK9! I havent played since Dreamcast but damn is it fun, Im looking for some sparring partners or anyone with general knowledge of the game, Ive just been using mixups to win currently, I know there is a lot more to it but not sure what everything means yet, haha. You trolling SCV is pathetic. If you are losing to mashers then you are not playing right. Do you know how dumb this sounds? That is like saying:

MK: Projectile Projectile Projectile Projectile etc.

ROFLMFAO! I'm not sure what's going on in here. :p

But, I apologize that I wasn't able to update the first post yet. Had a much more busier weekend than I planned. Hopefully next week, I'll have a chance to do so.

About SCV being a mash fest.

Well I strongly disagree. When you learn the game at high level, you'll know your characters appropriate range/spacing to keep the masher out. You'll be able to punish unsafe moves and blocked strings, no problem. And since your opponent is mashing, you'll be able to maximize your damage via Counter Hits. And they won't know how to break stun combos and when to air control juggle appropriately.

Ultimately, learn you character's/game system's ins and outs. And you'll never have to worry about mashers in this game or ANY 3d fighting game.

SCV is VERY GOOD. And HAS the best netcode...period. Live and let live. <3

I see you hate NAMCO FGs. You said the same thing for Tekken lol.

As much as I love NAMCO FGs I love you slightly more , Phil. So I won't get offended.

But I'm loving the SHIT out of this game. I didn't play SC4 because I hated it but I see Cervantes lost his OTG throw(gunshots) from SC3.Doesn't bother me that much though.

Ezio is so damn easy lol.And when I picked up Ivy I went: "WTF happened to this bitch"

So far, maining Ezio, Cervantes and Devil Jin.

I went into SCV with an open mind, I really did. I spent time working on Natsu, who is like Taki, the only character I EVER used in SC(back in SC1, the only SC I ever played before SCV). I have been working on her for a week, with setups, learning pressure strings, offense, defensive moves, etc. I feel like blocking in this game is irrelevant because moves start low but hit high, or start high and hit low. Ultimately, I don't understand 3d games, and that's just something I have to accept and move on. SCV might be a good SC game, but it's still a 3d game and I should have remembered that before I tried to like a 3d game. You win some, you lose some and I will continue to support SCV but I know when to fold em and this game just isn't for me.

LOL well I certainly appreciate that. The problem with Namco FG's goes back to Tekken 3 with me. I spent WEEKS learning advanced setups with King, all his throws, EVERYTHING. I then proceeded to lose to a mashing Eddy Gordo followed by a mashing Law and I quit Tekken forever after that. The only time I ever interacted with Tekken after that was to show my 50 year old mom that she could beat the game by mashing 1 button with Law... she beat the game on hard doing that...and she hated video games.

I see, well in that case it is just a matter of preference. I have no idea what you mean by the start high hit low stuff, but to every man his own.

If you spend hours/days/weeks learning one character, you are still going to be merked becuase you also need to spend time learning other characters to understand how to block and punish them, so all that character knowledge goes out the window when you can't even make a proper read or punish and it looks like you are just getting mashed on.

I'm 3 days in and Siegfried , Natsu , Mitsu , and Tira are just completely raping me.I haven't seen a Nightmare and Xiba yet but when I do I'll be more scared than the other 4.

I'm sticking with Cervy but I just have no clue how to approach. Altaire help me!! Also Ezio sucks...I don't know...but he just f*cking sucks.Requiescat in Pace just has to be the shittiest move that I know so far.And tackle is stupid.Crossbows are OK but you ain't getting far.

Apparently, Raphael is considered shit tier right now, and Ezio might be as well. Unless he finds some answer to the fact that his go-to strings are easily avoided, he's going to be terrible. Considering I don't like Assassin's Creed, I'm okay with this.

If you want Cervantes help, just add me on XBL, I guess. I haven't put a whole lot of time into him yet, I'm focusing more on Nightmare and Siegfried first. I've mostly been getting by on fundamentals with Cervantes.

Uh, no. As long as you have enough matchup experience and refer to the frame data, you don't NEED to learn a character just to beat them. It's no more necessary in SC than it is in MK9.

Oh, and my early projection for top tier right now:

Alpha Pat, Astaroth and Natsu are top three. Calling it right now.

Algol, Leixia, Pyrhha Omega and Xiba are from 4-7.

Voldo, Mitsurugi and possibly Hilde would make up the rest of top ten. I haven't seen enough of Hilde to have a concrete opinion, though.

Honorable mention goes to Nightmare, who's potentially top ten now that he actually gets rewarded for setting up. Cervantes may be up there now that he's safer and has one of the best CEs in the game, and Viola is kind of a wild card (the potential is there, but unless someone finds an answer to her low damage output, she's likely to be mid to low tier). No one is going to know what the REAL tier list is for months yet, but these are my estimates. By Evo, we'll know how much of this was on the money.

I don't really know what the differences between the Pyrrhas are. I do know that Pyrrha Omega gets a lot more damage off her stabs, that's about it.

Rathalos

Play Monster Hunter!
Getting the game in a few days, have no idea who I want to main.

Played as setsuka and kilik in the past. Kilik is a fucking mimic now, and setsuka is gone, and her replacement is a douchebag. Might just remake her in CAS, won't be the same with out the umbrella though. How does her moveset hold up though? Did they change it a bunch?

BEENEEWEENEES

Thou shalt be slain!
Then explain to me how she's not.
the fact that Pyrrha's 1K is as fast as it is and as safe as it is makes a _world_ of difference, while O Pyrrha's is unsafe and easier to react to. Pyrrha can poke at you all day and play shit as safe as she wants; OP (for reference sake) is generally more unsafe all around, even her fuckin TDS B is unsafe (completely fucking stupid imo). they have similar tools in B+K, 236B, 22_88A, etc but the additional tools that Pyrrha has are completely better than OP's, more specifically her godlike 1K.

Pyrrha is also better in the meter department for a few reasons. the damage OP gets off of meter is all going to come from comboing off of her CE, which is tricky because the animation doesn't activate off of a launch and she only has a few ways to reliably combo into the CE. OP's 6B BE is also glitchy and doesn't always work (it'll just come out 6BA but still take meter from her), something they'll hopefully fix. Pyrrha gets 90~ish damage off of 66B BE 22_88BAK and has a CE that can be combo'd from just about anything.

there are a few glitches i've heard talked about regarding OP that really fuck her up, too. if she does 236236B:4 off of a wall splat, it sometimes will reset the opponent into a neutral standing position while OP continues to follow through with the animation, leaving her unsafe as fuck... that, the 6B BE issues, and some glitchy issues regarding comboing into her CE are all things that need to be fixed. OP has to play much riskier than Pyrrha to get the same rewards Pyrrha can get playing competely safe.

all that being said, OP is still very viable. her 22_88B is awesome, her 66B is awesome, and her CE is awesome for punishing shit on reaction for killer damage. she's a great character, just not better than Pyrrha, who is easily top 5 in this game right now.

Getting better with age
Well, time to eat crow on my previous posts on Viola.
I've shifted gears in my gameplan, from defensive block-n-punish
to setting up continuous pressure and "hard-to-block"ables (won't say unblockable)
and the results I'm getting are like night and day.

Went to a room randomly last night, had 2 guys owning the room vs 2 beginner violas.
1 of the Violas it was his 1st night online, and the other sounded just like me a few posts ago.
The "emo" one, wrote me off before I fought based on character alone. Then I went on to wreck house.
Really starting to see major potential in the character, you just can't get far without being proactive about setups.

How's Voldo and Maxi? Voldo's one of those few characters that can keep my interest, just due to how fucking bizarre he is. Maxi's just fun to play, despite looking like an enormous doucher.

Is it me or is Algol and Natsu OP'd as f*ck? How do you escape her unblockable when she OTG's it? F*cking Shujinkydink does that sh*t all day and I'm stuck playing mid to low tier characters...F*CK!!

I'm only happy though that for once I'm not tier whoring in a fighting game lawl.Well...Reptile is top of mid tier so it's not really tier whoring in MK either.

BTW I feel like I'm playing Baraka with Cervantes.I can't apply pressure I have to be defensive.Or probably I'm just playing SC the wrongest way possible? I miss a spammable Geo Da Ray and Gunshot OTG throw from SCIII =(

My understanding is that if Natsu knocks you down and you think she's gonna do an OTG bomb, just stay on the ground and don't do anything. It will still hit, but it won't launch and you won't take as much damage. Apparently that's the best option.

I dunno how you're gonna say you're not tier whoring when we don't know what the tiers are. The game is too new. When MK9 first came out, everyone thought Ermac was top 5.
