The Kameo system is dope
I second this. I was worried I was gonna hate the gameplay in my SECOND MK in a row (after mk11) because I just found the "assists" on towers of time uninteresting, but ended up enjoying the kameo system a lot.The Kameo system is dope
Idk if I'd be a fan of that tbh. Just keep the characters complete. Like Geras is a character overstuffed with mechanics, but they're fun. It would be annoying if I needed to be in one stance for my command grab, another for my snap and another for my sandstorm. I like everything accessible from the jump, unless the character is specifically a stance character like GhostfaceI second this. I doubt, however, their next MK is going to feature them.
I would love for them to keep the up/flawless block mechanic as it is in MK1, as well as keep the air kombat (which was done in an immenselly satisfying way) for their next game though. My personal dream come true would be if their next "gimmick" was "stance switches" revisited - something akin to Shang in MK1: you can switch between special moves and sets of strings on the fly during a match, preferably mid combo. Have an Assassin Kitana using the fans as short, sharp slicing daggers that can switch to a Royal Kitana using long range, open fan strikes that have wind specials with the touch of a button.
Aside from bare basics like EX moves and supers, I think Kameos is the best mechanic NRS has added to MK.Kameo system was really awesome, but I feel like it intimidated casual players when really, I think there's a lot of room for more ambitious Kameo designs that we'll probably never see now.

In my humble opinion, only very recently has the kameo system been somewhat interesting and balanced.Kameo system was really awesome...
Then the issue is on Sub Zero and Kitana for relying so heavily on their kameos. If nerfing a kameo destroys a character, then that character needs love.In my humble opinion, only very recently has the kameo system been somewhat interesting and balanced.
At almost any other period throughout the game's life span, the kameo system was laughably monotonous and one dimensional, which was unappealing for tournament players, casual gamers, and viewers alike.
The issue had never been that there existed one or two best kameos. The issue had been that one or two kameos completely dominated the meta.
The kameo system, moreover, is inherently flawed and impossible to balance because each kameo affects each character differently.
Pre-patch Kung Lao, whose low hat had less cooldown and was +2 on block, fairly complemented characters like Kitana and Sub Zero who have limited offensive options and lots of gaps in their strings. On the other hand, Cage and Sindel, when paired with pre-patch Kung Lao, were a nightmare to defend against. Cage would pressure you for an eternity while Sindel would loop you with a hard-to-blockable vortex.
NRS dug a hole for themselves with the kameo system. The game would be easier to balance if it were a traditional one on one fighting game, as every major modern fighting game is.
By the way, has anyone just booted the game? A notification popped up that rewards you for referring the game to friends. There is little doubt that the leaker was right about the status of the sales.

"Do more of what everyone disliked because fuck 'em, that's why."i wonder what lessons they’ll take going into their next game.
i wonder what lessons they’ll take going into their next game.
Let's not forget more open-toed shoes. Who on the team has a god damn foot fetish? Almost everyone had open-toed shoes. lolThey're gonna take a bunch of lessons regarding communication, balance and story.
WB will then hand them their new lesson plan of "more microtransactions"
You didn't play Air Kabal?Aside from bare basics like EX moves and supers, I think Kameos is the best mechanic NRS has added to MK.
I'm someone who rarely ever switches mains, so when there's kameos being added to the game it's like a new set of special moves being added to my main.
Far cry from MK11 where the Kabal I played in the pre-release beta was the same exact Kabal I was playing year 2
I did, but that was the variation I used way back in the beta. When I saw that they didn't allow custom variations in ranked, I just waited and then used the beta build when they were allowed lolYou didn't play Air Kabal?
Add that to the pile of things that devides the MK community. Then the issue is on Sub Zero and Kitana for relying so heavily on their kameos. If nerfing a kameo destroys a character, then that character needs love.
Same. But after the way they handled and canceled future plans for MK11, this wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.Keep in mind all this leak is just that: a leak and not yet confirmed. We'll need to see what happens.
this is nothing to do with the 3D era charactersAnd of course, there's people on other sites trying to blame this on the inclusion on 3D era characters. Seemingly ignoring that MK1 has all, but one of the ninjas playable along with plenty of other fan favorites and the biggest criticisms it got were no krypt, people not liking invasions and the kameo system and the price for the DLCs
It's not like a whole bunch of people that had already made their minds about not buying MK1 were gonna suddenly change if it were to add Sonya, Kano, and Jax.
I completely agree that the 3D era characters have nothing to do with it. But the sad thing is NRS/WB may actually see that as a legitimate reason. It's the Simpson Skinner meme:this is nothing to do with the 3D era characters
The game was sold unfinished at full price, and then they asked another 60 dollars a year later to finish it with a shit story expansion
the game plays bad online
balancing was a mess in the beginning
comunication and PR getting in the way
lies to the public to sell more
there is a point that the buble stops filling and it burst out, NRS keeps shooting themselves in the foot for things they could easily fix, but intead they keep flushing the good ideas down the toilet, remaking characters from scratch which alienates everyone who played previous interactions and ppl end up hating the next version of the character, next game might get new players in, but it won't retain some or the majority they got from this game or MK11.
I'm actually genuinelly concerned that their next game if it's the exact same tatics, it will flop at launch, if Khaos Realm is an idication of anything
i don't think it would change anything even if they added sonya kano and jax, the game was terrible at launchI completely agree that the 3D era characters have nothing to do with it. But the sad thing is NRS/WB may actually see that as a legitimate reason. It's the Simpson Skinner meme:
"Should we stop doing scummy practices to appease the fans?" "No, its the 3D Era characters as to why they didn't play the game. Trilogy characters forever."
