People from other games have shit talked MK since MK9.

You just make shit up.
as far as mk and its competitive history goes you have no idea what you’re talking about. Since MK9? Who would know more about the fgc and the mk competitive scene in MK9, me or you? Tell me past my bedtime?? Your shots don’t invalidate my knowledge and experience on this nor do they make you any sort of true historian on this.

Is R1p's Arena not a successful online tournament series that is based on western European countries such as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom?

France borders like six or seven different countries, most of which a part of the EU, making traveling easy from what I understand.

Besides, Mortal Kombat 1 was a side tournament at VS Fighting a couple of months ago. The number of players was 52.

I refuse to believe that at least 100 players would not have shown up.
100 players is not going to cut it with EVO’s level of expenses.

You're absolutely right. The EU community will definitely show up if the game is added. The UK scene alone has probably more than 50 heads who show up online and offline and traveling from London to Paris is faster than going up to Birmingham. And cheaper. People will show up for sure.

No amount of players will cover the expenses for 90% of the participants. At the end of the tournament, only eight guys will be getting paid.

You keep mentioning expenses, bans, lack of popularity in certain regions, etc.

Perhaps the reason, which you tend to dismiss, is that a significant section of the community simply dislikes the game?

While everyone agrees that the game has progressively been improving, many people have quit playing/competing because the release version of the game was lackluster.

I want to reiterate that I have been playing Kombat League a lot recently, but I understand how many players have been put off by the game's flaws, whether previous and current ones.

Considering you constantly make shit up("We had to turn people away from MLG cause we had so many entrants", or "No noise was made") you're hardly a credible source of information.

You are the guy that photoshopped an Uber receipt that never actually happened.

And the guy that said he'd, "never make any content on MK1 ever again" only to shitpost on these very forums a few days later.

Fuck outta here.
Where you at MLG Dallas? No… don’t forget who the commentator was. The original bracket had the capped removed because there were so many people who were trying to attend, so we extended the cap and recapped it. I didn’t make that up, I was literally part of the conversation when the decision was made. You were actually present for any of this yet claim to know so much of it. You say I make shit up? Completely false, especially from someone who has rewritten my competitive history to be absolutely nothing just to prove your point of me being an idiot. I said I was done with MK only to come right back? Spoiler, I didn’t come back. I don’t stream or make videos for it nor have I for quite some time nor do I plan to because I am currently done with MK as it is. Still bringing up the crowd noise? The crowd noise was low, at least what was captured over the stream compared to every other game there. And the only point I was making is that Mortal Kombat is by far considered the least entertaining game to watch of all the competitive fighters. Whenever I say certain things like this, it offends people and they come on here and say that MK is more alive and kicking than ever before. It’s then said that all of this stuff is made up, yet you can come on this form and read thread after thread about how MK was again not included in something or how low the entry count of another tournament is.

And every time I post on this form, the only reply I get back is how I’m stupid, was a scrub at every game, and personal insults. The hatred of me in the community since it was born in Mortal Kombat 9 is so strong that it has rendered people incapable of even having a conversation without insults.

The only thing NRS can really do(without us knowing what goes on behind the scenes or what data they have access to that we don't) is continue to improve the game, which they have.

I expect they'll continue to support and add to the game at least until this current KP is done.

It'd be great if there was a Pro Tour announcement, even better if there were more money in it for Pro players than before.

Crimson posted the receipts for MLG in an earlier thread. Do I need to dig them back up?

I said you were back on this forum not long after. Surprise! I was right!

And you're STILL doing it!

Note: He didn't deny the photoshop allegation.
The original bracket was capped at 64 entrants, I was there when the decision was made to extend the cap to what the final number was. So it was capped and then the cap was extended. Even when I’m literally there when the decision is made as staff, you still say I made it up, absolutely ridiculous.

You try to call me out for saying I was done with MK1 content, then when I inform you that I haven’t made content in quite a while nor do I intend to because it’s obvious nothing is going to change, you then include things like posting on the forum to call me out as someone who was supposedly done with Mortal Kombat. I can be done with the game by way of not playing it, streaming it, or making videos about it, so I am done. However, posting on a forum once in a while about the game does not mean that I am not done with MK1 as it currently is. You just simply decided to add not posting on the forums as part of the qualifications to being done with the game so you can try to pull something else up to blow me up about.

And lastly on everything involving the “scam”.. the truth on all of this has come out many times. Also, the thousands of dollars I continue to pump into the community and players who ask for Help is also out there. The truth on everything has been told many times however it does not fit what people want so they just ignore it and keep going back in circles. Again, I’m not saying I’m observable all wrongdoing, just that the truth is not what people want it to be hence they ignore it. There’s no reason to continue to address it because nobody is interested in hearing anything else other than what they want to hear and all of this certainly has no place in this thread.

I have not insulted you, only talked about the topic at hand, yet you and people like you continue to do nothing but insult me and use personal attacks. Many people pretend like this hatred of me that the community has had since 2011 only exists my head and is nothing more than a figment of my imagination, yet you can literally see it in every thread I post in. I insult no one and attack no one, yet peoples replies to me have nothing to do with the subject of the thread, only insults toward me.

I’m talking about the expenses for EVO itself, not the players.

I love how the argument is basically "The game isn't doing well vs. MK Tom Brady is a piece of shit"

The game came out unfinished. WB is losing money, so they aren't ponying up dough for Pro Comp or even advertising the Comp Scene like they did in MKX/Inj2. Many people didn't like the Kameo idea. The game is selling at a slower pace than MK11. The tournament turnouts are lesser than previous installments. Everywhere the game is talked about is either heavily casual(reddit), or it's panned(twitter), and places the game is talked about offhand in the fgc as a whole, the opinion is that it's not a good game, some go as far as genuinely referring to it as a party game. Mortal Kombat 1 is not at an EVO event.

The "everything is fine," crew are just the Maga of the MK community. Ignore them. They're weird.

let me see just this thread ...

you seem to have issues with "older" people and their condition.
Randy Couture (UFC) went into the cage with 47 (record) ...

account 2024, lucky you are still not shoot dead ...

(Ignore feature in a forum is wild, you lose so much context.)
The "lucky to not be shot dead," may come off a little threatening and idk about all that, but I have been saying, Vulgar is 100% an online persona. He wouldn't act this way in real life, no one would. You'd be mocked or yeah, punched in the mouth, or at the least you'd be the person everyone avoids. He's probably some fucking zoomer or a basement dweller, and should honestly be collectively ignored here so we can have our little corner of the internet that doesn't involve attention craving angsty bitches.

I don't think there's anything in this world as sad and funny at the same time as someone trying to be rude/Vulgar, and just coming across like an arrogant and naive teen that's carving "Hail Satan," in his high school detention desk.

Anywho, game isn't at Evo. I'm SHOCKED.

To get back on topic:

The game was in a sorry state at launch. The monetization is still scummy and gross, both at launch and now.

The rough launch definitely alienated some players, no doubt about it.

However, I think the game is in the best state it's been in awhile, with an indication that it'll keep getting better as time goes on.

Will it be too late? Maybe.

But I can't say I blame Xombat for not wanting to pay exorbitant airplane and hotel fees to France when there are no sponsors and no pro tour. That would be ludicrous.

Outside of announcing a really strong Pro Tour(like the ones for Injustice 2 or MKX) and communicating with the community better, I think NRS is doing what they can do.

I find it hard to believe that NRS is forbidden from working on the online matchmaking and ranked system. Is WBD really micro managing every task that they devote their time into? Is NRS unable to argue the value of having a modern, functional online environment?

I'm telling you. If the built-in online delay was reduced/removed, proper WiFi filter added, training mode queueing and a SF6-esc ranked system was implemented, this game would be thriving. I'll go as far as saying if those features are implemented the playerbase would skyrocket and we wouldn't really have any of these attendance problems.

NRS is given a set amount of resources to use. They might not be strictly forbidden from working on those things, but they also might not have the budget for it either. NRS can argue to value of having a modern function online environment, but WB will probably ask "how many more sales/microtransactions does this add?" MK already sells really well, especially compared to SF and Tekken. My guess is WB would argue that those resources would be better spent planning, prepping, and developing the next game.

I think some of these issues we're seeing with NRS is due to how they do the life cycle of their games. WB would rather release 4 7/10 games over 10 years than 2 9/10 games.

I agree, and I think we'll get those features as patches and updates come in. Granted, they should have always been there at launch. I don't see them not adding more QoL changes as it goes on.

We'll see. I could be wrong.

Nonetheless, I believe that if Mortal Kombat 1 had been released in its current state, tournament numbers would have likely been higher.
This has been one of my biggest issues with NRS games. But it’s weird, because with both MK11 and MK1, I really enjoyed the betas. With MK11, a big reason I loved it was because of the custom variations. And then after heavily advertising customs, pre-release they said that customs weren’t gonna be in ranked modes or in tournaments. And they didn’t correct this horrible decision (imo), until way too far into the games life.

Similar thing with MK1. I really enjoyed the beta, especially Sub-Zero. Post release, I’ve only used Sub at first to see the changes and they were abysmal, haven’t used him since. I’ve liked a couple characters in MK1, but overall wasn’t a fan of all the changes they made to my favorite MK character, H.Smoke. But my 2nd favorite MK character, Scorpion, I have loved his gameplay from rip even though he was low tier for so long. But having to constantly work so much harder to edge out a win compared to most of the cast, it got super tedious and the satisfaction/gratification just wasn’t there. You’d think that overcoming bad MU’s or winning with a lower tier character would be gratifying, but it just wasn’t. Because I had just had to put too much effort in, meanwhile my opponents constantly could do insanely strong fck neutral tools and make them completely safe on block, and on hit I’m either losing a huge chunk of life, or I’ve “lost” neutral and have to make a guess or just hold pressure.

Of course NOW Scorpion is great, arguably a top 3-5 character. But just like with MK11, for me it’s too little too late unfortunately. Plus, with how many people hate Scorpion (even when he’s low/mid tier), I can’t imagine he’ll stay as he is for very long. And for the record, I don’t think he’s this super godlike character. He just has the tools he should’ve had from the beginning now. And ftr, I don’t use Ferra or Khameleon at all. I main Motaro but also use other Kameos like Jax, and Scorpion. I don’t like Kameos that make a bad character really good, it just doesn’t interest me. But enough rambling. I think you get my point. By the time the game is in a decent place, it’s (IN MY OPINION) too late. ¯\(ツ)

Jax might be a better Kameo than Ferra/Torr. Javier made Top 8 w/ Scorp/Jax.

An inspiration to us all, honestly.
