Is zoning back?



Oh it's not just back, but we've got insta-air zoning, frame trap zoning, +OB zoning, combo creating zoning, anti-fireball zoning. There's a few things I haven't seen yet that I don't even wanna post in fear of the nerf hammer lololol! Everyone needs to keep talking about Cyrax.

There's also some ridiculous, RIDICULOUS mix-up pressure that's gonna start popping up soon. Xombat almost referenced it in his video but didn't which makes me think he actually knows and didn't say it LOL. Character is bonkers but I'd say hands down the best character they have made since Inj2.

Sektor just made me give this game another run. I am also surprised that neither Xombat nor Ketchup mention the kameo that I consider by far the best for mix-up reasons.

j3 can for some reason be buffered into s2. doesnt work into any other moves or from j4.

but in consequence, you get some little option selects on block or hit.
block will lead into j3, s2 jail, -7 on block with possibility for charge 2 mindgames
hit will lead into 32 air kombo

f4~fstance, 32
212~fstance, 32

and so on

just realized that sektor has barely sound oki by herself. the only theoretically viable string that cant be countered by anything, b34, has to be executed frame perfect on their getup. only that way it is late enough for both hits of the b3 to connect to break armor, but quick enough for the 4 to not be beaten by a delayed d1/d2.

edit: tbh after further testing im not even sure if there is a way to make it cover both options at all.

this would make sektor base kit have the worst oki in the game, maybe the only one with zero guaranteed, safe options.

correct me if im wrong.

another thing: a raw db4 will launch a standing opponent high enough to connect j212/j134, but not a ducking one.

and ill ask again, has anyone found a good use for charging s2 aside for some fringe cases?

this character is so weird. there are so many things that make her just feel unfinished to me.

You can't say that without mentioning WHO the kameo is?? :eek:
Currently I think that Sonya is the best kameo. Her OH (b-kameo) and her divekick are just great for mix-ups. And even Sonya‘s energyrings (f-kameo hold) are a welcome addition to Sektor's zoning repertoire. There are just so many options even without Sonyas Cartwheel, like:

- f3(hold), f-kameo (hold), f3(release) into combo.

I don’t think anyone can reliably defend against this amount of safe mixups with varying gaps.

At the same time I think that Sektor’s spacing and zoning are overrated. This is not what Mortal Kombat is about. Even though I love zoning.

sektor/frost have a bug where sektors teleport done towards frosts summoned wall will land on the wrong side of the wall and allow no combo continuation.

You get free safe jumps into basic armour break with s1 off db2.

You can end any combo ibto s3 missile and then jump back db1 to armour break and enforce plus frames.

Actually; she has some of the best oki in the entire game. I’m not sure where you’re coming from.

has anyone found good uses for s2 charge yet? all benefits seem veery situational.
It's very plus on block and lets you jail a lot of things on block. on block you can jail things like motaro shot and even ferra low/oh jail after it. You can also get cheeky and go for s2 into db1 on block but this can be punished although they have to be ready for it

I mean she can safe jump a bunch but the oki isn't really good if there's no real threat to open someone up. the overhead is redactable, there's no team that gives you good throw combos, and she doesn't have an auto shimmy.

i was only considering the grounded strings. ill look into the other stuff. i end my bnb with 212db1, leaves you enough time to do grounded db1 and still be safe at ~ -7 at 2/3 screen.

Ehh, there’s still strike/throw as a mixup. Her 11 string also has a built in stagger. Mavado and Janet give her throw combos, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

- throw, mine into whatever

Janet
- throw, immediate b+k x3 into standard combo.

I stand corrected; can’t seem to get the Mavado mine to combo. I could’ve sworn I had previously. Janet still works though.

I decided to try it out. You have to watch Sektor's arm. You need to call Mavado as she's swinging her arm when she turns around. If you do it too early, you can still combo tho. You have more than enough time to dash up. But if you time it perfectly Mvado doesn't knock Sektor out of the grab animation


I don't use Sektor at all (fraud I know), so I don't know what would be optimal after this. But you guys can test it out

I have not seen Sonic Fox lose that bad in a while.

I am aware that Havik is "living la vida loca" right now, but are people overrating Sektor?

When I play Kombat League, I really dislike this character's normal attacks, particularly the low pokes.

d+1 is -9 on block, but can be slightly less, depending on the spacing. d+3 and d+4 are both -10 on block.

I also dislike fighting against Sub Zero (the kameo, not the character). The ice armor essentially disables all of your special moves, including the frame thrower, which the game registers as a projectile.

I do like Sektor's damage output, safe armor with Motaro, and the zoning, at least in the scarce situations when the game allows you to zone with instant aerial rockets.

Having returned to Komabat League for a little while, I can already tell that the meta involves characters like Cage, Cyrax, Havik, Homelander, and Kenshi. These characters have access to oppressive offensive options, and there is not much that you can do to defend yourself.

When Sonic Fox is losing 8:2 to someone, I believe that I am permitted to arrive to the conclusion that the initial comparisons to Starfire were a humongous bill. LOL.

As much as I like Cyrax, Sektor's gameplay is like butter... Might be a main. Goes well with Khameleon too. Jade extenders, Kitana float after ex missile or flamethrower and Mileena mixups with the roll and air conversions from Sai.
