At this point, WB games is the devil we know. They might make a worse (as in, more incomplete and monetized) game than MK1 next - and the odds are skewing towards that direction, as this company is a sinking boat of debt - but that might still be less of a dumpster fire than if some other company bought the IP. On the other hand, I can just as easily see this being bought by someone who will give Ed Boon and Co. more freedom and resources to make a much more polished game than MK1. There is just no way of knowing at this point.

In other words - Boon is still a compulsive liar and those "years of content" are rather illusive (if not non-existent).

Tbh I think the last time an MK game had a great soundtrack overall, was MK4. Some games have had standout good tracks like Deception Slaughterhouse or MK9 Armory, but MK's tracks have never really been the bops that you see from nearly every other fighting game. I don't think MK's dark tone means it needs to have boring moody ambient music.

This shit is a legendary banger and imo, the best MK song of all time. Which I know is a hot take, but I don't think any other MK track has the same energy during a fight as this one. This shit just gets you pumped. Its so primal, it just screams "fight to the death"

What an incredible version. I didn’t remember if I played mk4 as a kid but I remember the “toasty…3D!!!” Sound bite so I think I did. This ost is great though.

There’s so much raw mystery in the living forest setting I was bummed to hear the “rock” interpretation of it in mk1, it sounds so tacky or goofy comparatively.

I saw this article and while a sell isn’t exactly 100% I have also seen other news sources talking about this subject. WB is broke and we all know this. There were rumors of a selloff of the games division of WB YEARS ago even before the merger.

I think before all is said and done MK will most certainly end up changing hands. Do you all think this is a good thing or a bad thing? Personally I’m ecstatic after the choices this particular game made and hoping that after a long break MK will just reboot (like ACTUALLY reboot) entirely.

The rights to MK went to WB when they acquired Midway. NRS is owned by WB, and replaced WB Games Chicago.

I personally don't. I'm sick of them in almost every department. Animations suck, music sucks, writing sucks, designs suck, communication sucks. I'd be down to see someone new get their hands on MK, fueled by a drive to prove themselves.

I'm all for IP selling and another proper reboot. No multiverse bullshit, just classic storyline continuity, no time travels and back to the future scenarios. Pure MK. Violent, bloody and dark. Sometimes goofy, but to certain extent. And no more bullshits like Kuai Liang Scorpion or female robots. Well established basics that they are going to expand and build on is all I need. And please, dont afraid to move forward beyond human lifespan! Even if that means having Sonya and Johnny in 1 game instead of 2. Oh, and no guest characters. Let there be another franchise that will cover this. Like "Popculture Fight" or whatever.

I don't blame him. He's been working and rebooting this IP for almost 30 years. I would be sick to death of it as well.

yep .... we just know this statement coming from him since MKX or Injustice 2 , so, yep, I never ever believe this , and MK1 will have the same treatment as MK11, after 2 or 2 and half years, no more support , dlc, etc ..... that is very predictable .... IDK but I have impression that sometimes Ed is "obligated" by his contract, to say some very stupid stuff in order to increase hype and try to enhance sales numbers, so ......

yeah, Ed is very talented and would be much more useful if he really had total creative freedom and not being a "slave" from WB idiot final decisions and directives, so, yeah, would be for the best of MK franchise series interest if Ed could have more independent power over decisions in a new MK game ...... is sad seeing that he IP owners are only corporate greedy bastards business men without any real taste for art or talent for games and MK lore in general, lol !

well, sometimes this is the impression we got, but Ed knows that MK franchise is a very well sucessful one and got bigger and bigger along the time, so, is pretty much a guaranteed profit cow for him until the day he decides to retire, so, I really think that despite from time to time he might could get bored with his own creation, he knows that he created something out of nowhere that happened to turn in one of the most well sucessful game franchise from all the time, so, it's hard to think that suddenly he just can give up of all this without thinking twice, hehe

like I said though as long as Kuai Liang is Sub-Zero I’m good. This is pretty much the first game in my whole life I didn’t have that because I really started with MK2. I know of MK1 but have zero attachment. My brothers and I played MK2, 3, and trilogy like crazy. So yeah please give me my boy back or AT LEAST a premiere skin. I don’t like Bi-han. Don’t like his angry face. I think Mythologies is HEAVILY overrated and also don’t believe he should be strong enough to beat 4 gods. The powerscaling in that game? Awful.

I liked the Mythologies Bi-Han. He was the quintessential cold assassin, not outright EVIL, but definitely ruthless, with great prowess of stealth, theft and martial arts. In MK1 they turned him into a cartoonish villain asshole who is a complete incompetent.
