Post Final Kombat Mortal Kombat 1 Patch Notes 6/18 - Peacemaker, Khameleon nerfs + more

  • Added a new Graphics Setting to increase the 30 FPS lock on certain sections to 60 FPS, which is intended for users with High-End Hardware
    • The new setting to enable this is accessed via Main Menu > Settings > Graphics > Experimental > 60 FPS Mode: OFF (Default)/ON
    • Note that this setting will not affect pre-rendered movies and will be automatically disabled during Online Matches to avoid stability issues
General Fixes & Adjustments
  • Fixed several desyncs that could occur during online play if the game had been hot-fixed
  • Adjusted camera behavior when Homelander, Omni-Man, or Peacemaker are interrupted or hit high off screen

Reptile
  • Fixed damage scaling on Force Ball when not enhanced
Peacemaker
  • Human Torpedo & Enhanced Human Torpedo now hits High
  • Reduced base health value to 650 (from 700)
Homelander
  • Fixed canceling into Flight when grounded more than once in a kombo not consuming Super Meter
  • Fixed Jump Attacks during Flight be able to be canceled into Flight on block
  • Fixed not being able to breaker God Complex & Enhanced God Complex
  • Improved Punching Down linking into God Complex & Enhanced God Complex from Flight when it hits opponent near the top
  • Fixed issue that could result in Homelander sliding on the ground sometimes when God Complex from Flight was canceled from certain heights
  • Fixed rare issue that could result in Homelander sliding on the ground sometimes when God Complex from Flight was performed just as flight was about to time out
  • Fixed rare instances of some juggle kombos sometimes behaving slightly differently against Homelander with specific timing
  • The following attacks can no longer be parried by Dirty Trick
    • Kitana - Fancy Strike (Away + Front Punch)
    • Rain - Tide (Away + Back Punch) & It Pours (Back Punch, Front Punch, Front Punch, Back Punch)
    • Reptile - Kneet Trick (Towards + Back Punch, Front Kick)
    • Sindel - Shear Genius (Towards + Front Punch) & Off The Top (Away + Back Punch, Front Kick, Back Punch)
    • Ermac - Dragged Under (Front Kick, Back Kick)
    • Peacemaker - Gutshot (Away + Back Kick) & Pinky Toermenter (Down + Back Kick)
    • Quan Chi - Skeleton Jacker (Towards + Back Punch, Front Punch)
  • The following attacks can now be parried by Dirty Trick
    • Ashrah - God’s/Demon's Wrath & Dark/Light Ascension
    • Baraka - Baraka Barrage, Stab Stab, & Chop Chop
    • Havik - Twisted Torso

  • Reduced base health value to 250 (from 300)
Janet Cage
    • Slightly increased combo damage scaling on Hop Punch & Hop Skip Punch

I swear, NRS used to be known for kneecapping top tiers instantly. MK1 comes around and their reflex is just slaps on the wrist spread out over months at a time lol

Torpedo nerf is important, though. The ability to just say "fuck it, torpedo" contributed to why PM was a (literal) no-brainer pick. Weird they couldn't hotfix out Kham's fan lift overriding hitstun - that's the issue that actually seems like a bug.
 
Khameleon got nerfed at last. Y'all happy? Good thing Peacemaker got some toning down, as well as Homelander, who looks gutted (much to my delight).

A lot of people complain about any/all nerfs, so the result is that you can have a tournament where both of the strongest characters (Johnny and Peacemaker) had already been nerfed.

I’m a bigger fan of the “more thinking required”-style nerfs that make it harder to autopilot, so I think the Torpedo nerf is a good choice.

Homie's probably not gutted tbh, the only major nerf was multiple Flight Cancels taking meter and his optimals at most use 2 of them already, this only really hurts his Kameoless combos cause with Kameos he can get big meterless damage
The rest is just bug fixes and a change to parry

Flight cancels taking meter is imo a huge thing. Lets see how this plays out, but hey, Im not complaining lolol
 
I think they got such a big backlash about that during MKX that they switched over to trying to be more cautious with their patches. Personally I'd like to see them be a little more aggressive.
Which is still wrong. People don't want them to do fucking nothing, they want them to buff and fix the lower tiers. They want characters who have complete kits. They want more viable kameo options for their character. I'm fine with minor nerfs, but where are the buffs to fix the rest.
 
While at Final Kombat Ed + Tyler were VERY active in talking to everyone in regards to direct feedback on changes to the game. This revert was almost no surprise but I wouldn't be surprised if you saw Cyrax come back to life + more eventually. This was the most active I had seen them at an event so we will see how things go from here. Hoping something huge comes with a Season 2 of Pro Komp myself. Large seasonal changes/meta's if they plan on committing to the game for a while.

Very interesting.

I find the Khameleon nerf slightly odd. Fan lift being the OP ability and all. I'm also confused on the Janet nerf.

Anyway, next month we're probably/hopefully getting a beefy patch so we'll see what NRS is planning. Having said that, it is a bit unfortunate we're going to EVO with relatively the same meta.
 
It looks like Torpedo is hard to whiff punish, since it goes so far
Still it can get punished by fast advancing specials like Shadow Kick and Chop Chop
Fixing this should be as easy as changing a number but lab punishes for it while it stands like this
Seems like it depends a lot on distance too. Like the 3rd time around, he dashes in closer to Peacemaker at the start, which means the Torpedo ends farther away.

But it will definitelly stop people spamming the move from halfscreen, because at that distance, a couple of dashes sets you up for a normal-range punish as long as your starter is fast enough.

Also there are a number of kameos that will open up other options to punish this as well.
 
Peacemaker Torpedo change seems like a possible buff. Plus on whiff kinda situation going on alongside being outside of most characters range to punish
I think most characters will be able to punish it even if it is just a small one, since advancing specials are so common now
 
D3 or d4 into torpedo with kano ball/knives is a free get out of corner set up. If you block he's fine or small punish and if you don't block , the above scenario plays out.
 
I probably won't get the chance to lab it myself for a while but here's the list of moves i think could punish whiffed Torpedo if done at close to mid range

These khameleon changes are an absolute joke. Once again nrs shows they have absolutely no idea what to do when balancing. Players are 100% still going to use the khameo all the time.. same thing with the peacemaker changes. This has to be a joke..
 
I told y’all that I doubt NRS was panicking about nerfing Cage & Peacemaker. Cage wasn’t touched and the Peacemaker nerfs aren’t even that big of a deal tbh.

I also am not surprised we didn’t get a bunch of buffs. It’s just too much work especially when there’s not much benefit for them to do it.

Maybe we’ll get a big balance patch with Takeda or something, who knows?

The issue is that they literally have no idea what they are doing when it comes to balancing. The whole point of buffing a character is to increase their power level to a range where they are now more competitively viable meaning putting them in a top 10 spot or minimum upper mid tier. They then proceed to do all this work on reptile that don’t address the problems the character has . Instead they give him “edgy” moves that barely do anything to improve the character. The result; reptile is still bottom 5 and nrs now wasted their time. They’re traumatized from past experience but 90% of their buffing has been complete failures including the khameos.
