MK1 Tier List Discussion Thread

Made my own tier list but this is one is based on how much Kameo synergy a character has and thus how many Kameos they are viable with, originally i wanted to include tier descriptions and Kameos as well using the KA Tier Maker but the file was too big

Rain Janet is actually an insane team right now. B3 is a wild button, 20% throw combos that lead into safe jumps, one of the best auto shimmies in the game, and he does high 400s every touch. Character has top 10 potential for sure

It is seeming that way, yes. Maybe when Mavado drops they'll get tweaked, or even better, other kameos will be brought up to their level.

I think we're at the point were we need to wait and see what NRS plans on doing with game balance. Except maybe Kenshi, there's no OP main character. The competitive meta is set in stone for quite some time now and it will never change unless NRS intervenes.

The "unsafe move to kameo safety" meta is transcending virtually all playstyles, player creativity, and character specialties. I'd even go as far to say character tier lists are not that important when specific kameo moves allow for such gameplay. I'm personally happy Cyrax got re-reverted because I see that as a sign for more things to come in that direction. NRS needs to address these remaining kameo moves.

It's a waiting game right now.

Homelander does seem way too low, Rain potentially a touch too high. I really don't know what to think of Ermac, but also seems low. I could see Lao being contentious, too.

Most interesting placement though is Kenshi, I still think people are poorly placing him on lists. I think he might be one of the strongest bad meta-picks we've ever seen - Sonic himself has said he has at least 10 losing MUs IIRC, and many of those are the most prominent characters we see in the meta. How can a character be so highly placed on a tier list with such a polar MU chart, and where losing MUs are characters that are almost guaranteed to be encountered? To me thats the definition of something that's not in the meta.

I still think Li Mei shares the Bottom 1 spot with Havik, maybe she's even worse than him

There has been a lot of talk about Rain being top 10, and I agreed initially, but I'm not really seeing it anymore. His best kameo Janet has been nerfed multiple times now, and I feel like he sees less competitive play than even someone like Havik.

All of the stronger competitive Rain players have moved on to Homelander it seems, will be interesting to see if/when HL gets nerfed if they move back to Rain.

Top 5 in no order other than Sindel:
Sindel, Johnny, Kenshi, Nitara, Geras

Remainder in no order:
Homelander, Omni, Kitana, Milleena or takeda, Scorpion or shao

Tanya might be better than scorp or shao.

This is my way too soon hot take.


Also I've barely fought kitana's and mileena's since the patch, I dunno what I'm talking about here, but my gut says they're bullshit lol

Do you really believe Kenshi is top 5 after another nerf? A lot of people were already saying he was top 7-10 prior to this patch, and now he can't pull sento out on block which was his main dirt.

I'll be shocked if we see any more competitive Kenshis outside of some serious die-hards after this patch. I know so many people will think this is a hot take, but he's been seemingly powercrept, and a number of characters at this point have the same gameplan as him but are more consistent all around.

The only serious buff he's received was indirectly through buffing Motaro, imo. I think its definitely made him better, but no chance he's even close to top 5

I may have been trippin with Geras I admit. I was drunk and salty when I made that. But I had just witnessed the power of geras/ferra with pain and gain set ups and holy fuck it was strong. Just under 60% combos and then I gotta chase that fucker across the screen.

as for my tier list I think the meta is gain a massive life lead (without using meter if possible, so breaker on stand by, and then turtle like crazy until your opponent over extends. The top 5 however can just kill you without needing to turtle. And 100% maybe this is just a personal thing and something I lose to and not “meta” lol. I just like talking about the game.

as for kenshi and the kenshi down player, just having the sento sandwich IS dirt. That’s the dirtiest dirt you could ever have and you pigs have been rolling (and shitting) in it since September. I’m half joking, but yeah. I don’t play kenshi so I for sure don’t know the ins and outs of him, but if he really has been relegated to top ten then boo hoo, that must be sooo hard for you. I can’t imagine
