Updated Character bios for MK1

Johnny looks like a CAW from the smackdown vs raw era wwe games. Hope he has some classic inspired costumes other than the bloodsport one.

So wtf happened to the great kung lao after the end of mk11? Guess they skipped that era again huh?
Maybe this IS the great kung lao. People are saying radian, kang swap.. But that's a bad read. Kung Loa will be the campaign of earth realm. I think anyway.. So as it is the "beginning" he could be The Great Kung Loa.

I really don't like Edenia being removed.
What is more shocking is that Liu Kang decides to do it when Outworld has always been the aggressors invading other realms. If he wants peace, then Outworld should be the one removed and Edenia will retain it's former glory.

His vision is stupid.

1. I think the read that young sub is scorp is correct.

2. I would bet money that Hanzo is still going to be a playable fighter. Be it Noob, smoke, something new, or classic pre god liu scorpion raging across time to chase quan chi or whatever else.

Oh forgot the last one-

I can see a way for the plot to be interesting. MK9 basically made it canon that you can only fuck with time so much. It could be interesting seeing how Liu handles the same issues. If they're clever its going to seem similar until its not (which if they're bringing back 3d fighters offers a serious opportunity to do so). Unfortunately it's hard to hope for clever when 11's plot was SO SO BAD.

Personally, id just like to see badass badguys again. Please don't do as good a job as they did introducing Kotal Khan only to do a much better one making a fucking joke out of him. Goro, Kintaro, Motaro, and Shao Khan were all built up so well in the original era's, and even done well in mk9. I hope they learn from that and give us some characters with teeth, but I doubt it.

Why do people think Edenia is removed?(thread is to long)

Right.. So there is no information at all about Edenia being removed. All we know is that part of the elaeworld thing is the characters origins have changed. Nothing is mentioned about Edenia... So it is just as likely to be in it. Maybe they might introduce it with Sindel? They could even revert her back to good girl.

-Going back to a high-scale threat vs "new tournament" was the right choice by far. Minimizing the scale after MK11 would have felt like a downgrade.

/2Cents
Im still wondering if there even will be a tournament. Liu saying "there are more champions I must gather" in the gameplay trailer implies that hes recruiting for something big.
I cannot see Shang Tsung suddenly popping up in this reality to wreak havoc and Liu going like "yea sure mate, but let me just go around and get everyone while you're at it"

In case people couldn’t read the Bio’s due to the small text size, figured I’d try and help out.

LIU KANG
Having won control of the Hourglass, Liu Kang restarted history. He neutralized the threats and dangers that had come before, crafting a New Era in which all beings would have the opportunity to find peace.

But that peace is now threatened by an enemy that Liu Kang could never have anticipated. It will take all of his wisdom and experience to save not only Earthrealm, but all of reality.

SUB-ZERO
As the Lin Kuei's Grandmaster, Sub-Zero leads his ancient warrior clan in the defense of Earthrealm from external threats. For centuries, it has been their solemn task.

But Earthrealm hasn’t been threatened in generations, and Sub-Zero sees no point in limiting his clan to preparing for dangers that may never come. Under his leadership, the Lin Kuei will come out of the shadows and fight for its place as one of Earthrealm’s great nations.

SCORPION
Like his cherished father, Scorpion is dedicated to the Lin Kuei and its defense of Earthrealm. When his father died, Scorpion was bereft. Though he took pride in knowing that his brother, Sub-Zero, would succeed their father as the Lin Kuei's Grandmaster.

But Sub-Zero's unprecedented moves to cast off the Lin Kuei's traditional duties have frozen Scorpion’s enthusiasm. He fears that he may one day have to battle his brother for control of the Lin Kuei's legacy.

KITANA
Kitana has one purpose in life: to aid and protect her older sister, Mileena, as she prepares to rule Outworld one day.

The steady-handed Kitana ignores the calls of those who advocate that she should replace her impulsive sister as heir. Instead, Kitana will defend the realm by fighting to make Mileena the best Empress possible. She will also fight to hide the dark secret that could end her sister's reign before it begins.

JOHNNY CAGE
Like many stars before him, Johnny became addicted to his fame. He came to measure his self-worth by his fans' adoration and their praise of him on social media.

But with his star now fading, Johnny is fighting an uphill battle to remain relevant. He joins Liu Kang’s Earthrealm champions hoping that it will provide his career and his fame a desperately needed boost.

KENSHI TAKAHASHI
Once one of ancient Japan's most honored families, the Takahashis were decimated in battle. They lost everything, including the emblem of their power: the revered sword, Sento. Those who survived joined the Bakuto, a predecessor of the Yakuza, for its protection.

Five centuries later, Kenshi is raised on the stories of his ancient family's exploits. Detesting his corrupt Yakuza life, he pines to free the Takahashis from the Yakuza's grasp and restore their name.

But for his family to follow him, Kenshi must first fight to prove that he can lead. His first battle is to find and retrieve Sento.

KUNG LAO
Born and raised in the village of Fengjian, Kung Lao has spent his life toiling in the fields. It has been an honorable life, if not a glorious one.

Kung Lao’s greatest fear is that his life will amount to nothing. He prays fervently that he will be called to do something bigger.

His prayers are answered when he is asked to join the champions of Earthrealm. As a warrior fighting for its honor, Kung Lao knows that his victories will be long remembered.

MILEENA
Born mere seconds ahead of her twin sister, Mileena is the rightful heir to Outworld’s throne. But even so, there are those who distrust Mileena’s impulsiveness. They whisper that Kitana, with her steadier hand, should replace Mileena as heir to the throne.

As Mileena fights for legitimacy, she hides a horrible secret: she is infected with the dreaded and lethal Tarkat disease. Were her affliction found out, Mileena would be forced into battle to save her throne.

RAIDEN
In the village of Fengjian, Raiden was known for his kindness and his charity. He was happy to spend his days tending to the fields, as well as to his friends and family.

So when he is asked to leave Fengjian and become one of Earthrealm’s champions, Raiden hesitates. But he soon realizes that to best serve his village, he must join them.

As threats to Earthrealm mount, Raiden must mature into the great warrior that Liu Kang knows he can be.

Ehhh not so much in MK9 imo.

Well maybe Shao Kahn sure but the sub-bosses don't fare so well.

Motaro dies in the background from Raiden and/or drowning in the Chicago River. After Liu Kang is done with him, Goro just hangs around not doing much and Kintaro's only real offer to the plot was by burning Kabal.

I think we can safely rule out Shang Tsung, Shinnok, Shao Kahn and Kronika as the final bosses of this game, since the boss is someone Liu Kang never expected or encountered in the past.

Final boss is either Onaga, Havik on steroids or an entirely new character.

And no, I'm not saying Havik because I'm a fucking sucker for the guy, I am placing my bets on the 'Chaos will be snuffed out' remark on the MK trailer on YouTube.

I give Onaga a 50%, Havik a 20%, and a new villain boss a 30%.

That era has been reset. The current Kung Lao we're about to meet is The Great Kung Lao, except he didn't compete in an old tournament, because they didn't happen. He's competing now, in the soon-to-be released game. That's my assumption anyway.

Shang Tsung is presumably not the Big Bad because he's the Pre-Order DLC, so I would rule him out.

Changing characters roles and histories for the sake of novelty is awful storytelling, tbh. I will likely enjoy the game in spite of it, but how hard is it to write a sequence of events without backtracking, retconning, and generally making a convoluted mess of things?
Well, about that...

I'm not so sure. Liu is aware of Onaga. His in-game dialogue with Cetrion confirms it.

Wasn't Great Kung Lao alive 500 years ago?
Yes, that one was during those aborted timelines. But this version is a current edition. He can be The Great Kung Lao but...today.

The Great Kung Lao has always been depicted as a bald monk without the signature hat of present time's Kung Lao. Also the voice actor is the same from MK11 so its not Great Lao.

I don't think the story of the Dragon King is supposed to be forgotten by the White Lotus, so yes, he's probably aware of him.
I am giving Dom a lot of credit here, but it may be that Liu never encountered Onaga and considers him a 'deactivated' asset or something. Like a dormant volcano that isn't waking up anytime soon. So he may be ignoring him.
