Street Fighter V General Discussion

This may be the best thing for SF. The V systems are underdeveloped & uninspired. Character choices & designs are bland. New characters lack any spark. The game is a step backwards from SFIV. Perhaps someone else at the helm can reinvigorate the franchise.

I'll be back 3ing
I've actually picked this game back up a bit because i don't like MK11

It's fun. being able to DP anti air, meaty without killing yourself, no breakaway, no teleports etc

On fighting games, I tend to play as everyone on the roster. I don't really have "mains" or anything of the sort. For Street Fighter 5, I have every character on at least level 30.

Is anyone still playing this game on this website? The "definite update" that teases buffs and new moves is scheduled for early this week. I admit that I am very excited because SF5 and Tekken 7 are the only fighting games that I have been playing. I fear that Capcom is over-hyping this patch, though.

I've been going back and forth between MKX and MK11 for the past couple of months (mainly with offline friends, that are left with some shredded love for the franchise), hell we even fired up MK 9 Complete Edition on PC, and we manage to hop on the bike rather quickly, and still have a tons of fun. Then suddenly we decided to run a quick Tekken session. One of us is a tournament/competitive scene attended, and I havent touched Tekken since Tekken 4 dropped on the Arcades. After long night we had, we decided to give a shot an get on to Tekken. Though I am afraid the game will require way too much labbing, that I want to dedicate at pushing 40 next year (and still be way down below everyone else), so I dont know, maybe just for pure fun of pushing buttons, but that upcoming patch, I have some hopes for Nash, as I dont really feel like learning new character, besides I was never driven by Tier placement.

For the first time in years, we're in this "drift" state between none-competitive state for that long, without a clue what to do. I guess a lot of that had to do with the lockdowns, and fact that we adopted to the life in-door.

Though I have to admit, I feel the lack of the edge from back in the day. So who knows, I might end up going back to SF, or Tekken, but I doubt I will have the motivation to sink into Tekken at this point.

Massive nerfs. Not as many buffs as I thought. Kind of disappointing.
You mentioned, you played Nash, are you able to elaborate on those changes, are they significant as they are described, do they fix his lacking in any way or form?

The consensus in the Nash Discord is that these buffs are underwhelming, but some of the top tier characters, namely Cammy, Balrog, and Urien, have been received significant nerfs. The language on a couple of buffs is also ambiguous. For example, for the V-Skill 2 EX Sonic Scythe, the notes state "can now be canceled into from kick-based normal attacks", but nobody knows if "kick-based normal attacks" includes command normal attacks such as f+MK and f+HK, which would make a huge difference.

Enough speculation, though. You should be able to download the patch and play game offline in about six hours from now.

The devs pissed in Kolin’s mouth. She’s going to be a joke character now. She was overly nerfed and was borderline Top 10 at best.

Blame Kawano for being the only Kolin player to win at the highest level. LOL.

I really like this game and the meta, and while this patch has buffed certain low tier characters, which is commendable, most of the patch is trash.

narr. I mainly play MK11. I never was able to get into V... maybe VI will be something more to my taste.

Its dragged me back in, mainly because SFV bison is one of my favorite FG characters period. Something about the playstyle/moveset just feels so nice. Sadly he didn't get a ton that I can use (I need to not be lazy and really learn VT1, and the new TC is.....eh), but i'm enjoying not having to fight cammy every match like when I stopped, so that's nice.
