Guilty Gear -STRIVE-

Damn, good point about Gio dash changes potentially making mid-combo dashes way more work than they used to be.

I'm having a look back into Anji. Gave up on him before, let's see how double-buffs have treated him (but still no way around the announcer mangling his name).

In general, are people thumbs up on the changes?

I haven't had a chance to get back to, or watch the game since the patch. I kind of put the game on hold after hearing about it since I wasn't sure what continuing to play was going to be worth, or if I would like the game after. I'm always a little worried when a game I generally like gets "improvements".

Goldlewis players are sad about the FD changes but he has much better defence and mobility now. Faust is mega buffed. idk about others but I'm pretty darn happy with how the game has turned out.

Zato got some good stuff without being totally out of control. I like it.
Having a 5 frame 5P is a very welcome change. Felt bad to already lack defensive options and then also be on the list of "can't mash" characters.

Absolutely a step in the right direction for the game with what they changed. It's basically all there but defense mechanics are a little more refined and there's a lot more flexibility and opportunity for air conversions. Throw PRC OS got removed too which I think is good. Also increased throw tech window and input buffering window for accessibility/consistency.
Some characters got overall nerfed and their mains are crybabies since said characters are all still really strong.
Other characters got buffs they sorely needed.
Some characters got buffs they didn't need but it happened.

I think it's a really good patch.

Speaking of winners of the patch, Anji is finally a real boy. Being given the permission to, at long last, do farS into Fuujin is huge, his butterfly is amazing for oki now and the mid-screen corner carry / Kou loops get ridiculous.

Plus, everyone getting to join the 5-framer club (which is a change I predicted, because that was a silly gap between haves and have-nots).

I'll probably try it, but what I'm hearing just kind of makes it sound like they went a way I'm not interested in.

I probably should have said nerfed, but for characters like Nago it effectively removes it since his command grab needs to deal its damage to get the blood drain.
Can't you visually confirm into PRC/RRC after the bit animation ends? To my knowledge the "OS" is still there but you're just timing it manually rather than being able to spam RC macro and have the game cancel on hit and save you on block

I have such mixed feelings about this patch. Seems like most characters got buffed, and the FD being changed is necessary, but I think it might honestly hurt my main (Gio) most out of the cast. Especially combined with them nerfing her c.S to have more pushback. The changes to her dash seemed like they'd be a buff, but they've made conversions way more difficult.

Randomly thought about how wrong I was about Giovanna changes when the big balance patch dropped. I genuinely underestimated the value of the buffs she got and overestimated how detrimental the core changes were to her game plan. The character's good af, and I wouldn't change anything about her at this point.

Welcome back, you dandy sonofabitch!:)

Can't wait to play with more ppl once cross play drops!
I'm actually slightly worried about that, since I don't know what happens when I, a PC master race demigod, play with a degenerate console peasant. Is input lag a contagious disease? Is it airborne? Does it travel through ethernet cables? Should I wear a mask? Gloves? This is unprecedented, except for all the precedent it has, but I'm ignoring that because it doesn't support my stance!

That being said I have no clue how the input delay will factor in. I do hope they can polish everything up well for everyone though.

Kind of don't think so, but it also could be dependent on what is causing the lag and I've never been clear on why consoles so consistently have such comparatively high input latency.

There is the V-Sync conversation, but that's not console specific, doesn't explain why it varies per console, why it's several frames, and (to a lesser degree) how some games (Tekken) improved things with software changes.

You are most likely to deal with an uptick in WiFi percentages, and base PS4 players stalling frames (which I assume is still happening). You've likely run into a few PC players where their systems couldn't pace at 60fps, so likely a mild form of that experience.

With V-Sync forced, on and likely mostly 60hrz TV's, PS4s are probably going to have more drag on the game's internal pacing than a properly set up PC would. That stuff translates into wait states to realign the frame you are supposed to both be playing on. Drag on the game clock has tended to be the thing that causes better systems to pay the higher price in a rollback game, though I think GGS handles that about as good as anything out there ever has.

There is a lot going on though. Like why did PS5 have the worst input latency when it was the fastest of the PS consoles? Just have to see how it plays out. So far it's what, Power Rangers, KI, and SFV with PC crossplay? I don't know anything about PR, and SFV's probably doesn't count as a real example of what to expect. KI was quite a while back, but probably the best example given they have similar netcode success stories and expertise.

So season pass 2 is gonna add four characters. Sadly there wasn't any clue in the small teaser they released yesterday and I'm not up to the latest datamine news so I don't know what to expect!
