Can we talk about NRS' "support"?

Immortal

Blind justice....
No matter what they do, there always gonna be a lot of competitive players who will be unhappy with how they handled balancing. This will never change coz different people have different ideas of balancing for the same things. As is stands more and more companies just dont pay attention to what competitive players say, coz for every 10 of them, 5+ have totaly different opinions on the same thing and then again they have very short memory - when they get what they want and it doesn't really worked like they hoped they will just whine again and blame the developer for lack of vision (not themself for forcing the idea in the first place).

Anyway, like i said for better or worst most companies (our included) nowadays just do what they think is right and ignore the "outside voices" coz like history already proven, competitive players are people who never gonna be pleased, no matter what the company gonna do and i don't expect this to change anytime soon (meaning years) if ever.

because its cheaper and more lucrative to create dlc chars (one season pass 6 chars half the price of a fullprice game) then to create a whole new game with new models, moves and content.
Meanwhile, KoF 15 is the exact same as 14, just with tweaked lighting.

I have no issue if they want to stop support at a certain time nor am I even accusing them of "lying." It's just how they did it.

To claim you're going to have long term support without being specific can come across very vague. And then when you don't follow up with clarification, it creates this conflict of either giving people a false notion that something more is coming or they start getting antsy because they're worried it's not.

So what did they do besides trying to correct this? They ghosted us and let ed boon play mind games. I feel like a fast food customer waiting hours for the manager to explain why the order is taking long while he leaves his young child throwing food everywhere behind the counter.

And this is why I never take balancing suggestions from players, including myself, seriously, and tend to leave things in the hands of the developers who will have a much more informed and unbiased opinion towards balancing their own game.

Perhaps, but it was nearly 100% longer than any of their previous games. That's a sizable increase, even if it doesn't feel like it to most.

Yeah, I really wouldn't have had much of an issue with this had announced this back in November when the last DLC came out or hell even January or February rather than keeping fans in the dark for so many months. Though I still would have been disappointed about a few certain characters not making the cut.

I will never understand the fictious "support" model gamers think fighting game developers can maintain on nothing but player promises, for example:

This chart is hella funny:

"Much longer" support from NRS
Look at all those games that needed an annual 30-40 dollar booster shot in exchange for "support".

Look at all those games that didn't provide a single thing except vs including frame data and in some cases training mode at launch.

Look at all those games that sold a fraction as many copies as the MK that was only "suppoted" for half the the time.

Look at all those games whose only claim to fame is that the community put it on their shoulders for months or even years after the devs stopped updating them.

kof15 has rollback, that already makes it 5 times the game kof14 was.
We will see what type of “rollback” it has. Lol they aren’t all equal, as SF has taught us. If some Korean mobile game company develops their rollback for them, then…

I have to agree with you. But for me, what's weird is, when I was learning a character I was having a lot of fun. But when I realized the gameplay per variation didn't have the depth that I wanted, it became boring again super quickly. Like I'll spend 2 days learning a character and a specific playstyle for the variation, then once I got comfortable, it got boring. I don't know if it's just me, but I really hope they're done with variations.
This was me too. I'd have fun learning and getting my ass kicked, once I brought a new character up to my par, I got bored. Then, I transitioned to playing KL using one of my 4-5 chars once, then be done.

Variations suck.

sf5s netplay is LIGHTYEARS ahead of SF4. It is literally the one improvement that game has over its predecessor.

I can't express how much variations were implemented like shit in MK11. I think MKX variations were distinctive. So much so that when I played Hunter Pred, I couldn't play anything else because that was the way I played him. But he didn't feel incomplete, or boring.

They quit "supporting" this game because the system was major flawed and a total overhaul was only thing that could save this game the things that people hate at beta they hated at the end game was boring slow and lacked fun. As usual nrs changes its base game only to deploy idiotic new ideas, breakaway, krushing blows and fatal when what most mk fans want is a mk9 base with new characters like sfv does year after year.

Wow, so perfection or don't bother? You must be really fun in person.
KoF already looks like shit, if it also plays like shit due to crap online, why would you even buy it when there's games out there that respect your money investment?

Power Rangers looks almost as "good" as KoF (like a mobile game) and has flawless netcode. What's the excuse SNK has to not be able to compete with an absolute poverty fighter?

Indeed.
People love to pedal the lie that “SNK just doesn’t have the resources”. This is bullshit.
SNK has posted exceptional profits in every year since 2015. They have Saudi AND Chinese investors, not to mention a thriving mobile income.
SNK is making the conscious decision to not invest the significant resources into this franchise that it would need to reinvigorate it, unlike some of the other Japanese companies. They are content with doing the bare minimum with regards to the KoF franchise. If that level of investment is enough for some, then that’s wonderful. For the rest of us, it’s a total cock-dropper. Especially when we fondly recall the days of SNK being a company that pushed boundaries and over-delivered.

I should've known a bunch of guys who've never contributed anything to a game except backseat criticism would know better than me.
