The SP was absolutely a disaster when MK11 launched. Some of towers were nearly unplayable at launch. So many people were pissed about how absurdly unfair some of the modifiers were, and how so much of the games content was locked behind it
It's still a complete piece of shit.

It's a mobile phone grind to unlock all the stuff in the game without the option to pay to get rid of the endless grinding.

I fucking hate the costume grind so much and it makes me sad because I thought that the Krypt was really nicely designed but the whole unlock system attached to it made it fucking trash.

I could probably do a 60 minute video just ranting about how garbage everything single player is in MK11 but it basically comes down to game designers making something beautiful (the Krypt), then some asshole from some fucking economy school coming in, telling forcing them to apply his plan of player engagement by drip feeding players one shitty mask a day another recolor for some shitty costume per week/month (if they catch the tower or Boon tweet) so they can hopefully keep a big concurrent user base that will buy their low-effort DLC.

Problem is it doesn't work that way. Even the dumbest asshole understands that doing the same boring shit every day for lackluster rewards is boring as fuck and will go to the next game.

Whatever man, I'm striving. Fuck NRS, last game I bought from them unless they remake/remaster MK9 and don't filter it in the same drab colors they used since IJ1, shrink the tits and put the most boring music ever in it.

I think the issue was that they used it as an artificial way to keep people engaged. Like, you'll keep playing to grind the things you want or waiting for the random Krypt event to give you the skin and gear you're looking for... and it's awful. The comparison might be kinda pointless, but the recent Resident Evil 2 and 3 had unlockable weapons and extra stuff that you could either unlock by playing the game or buying them with real money. I don't like the option to buy them with real money at all, but since MK11 had four in-game currencies... why not allow the players to use that currencies to buy a simple skin? Give it a ridiculous price, I don't mind, but at least it's better than waiting for some random event to happen.

I’m interested to see if all the upplayers of this game double down on their bullshit and continue to play it for years to come. Super excited to see all the tech they discover and the expanded meta 2 years from now. And all the super hype destroyer type tournaments…

trufenix and crimson shadow can be the commentators….. and 2 of the 5 players. Get hype!!!

So much hostility. I understand not being happy or satisfied, but this seems like an overreaction.

Anyway, I do agree that there should be an option to pay for stuff instead of having to grind for it. Like, why wouldn’t NRS want you to be able to buy all the things anyway? Makes no sense if I’m being honest.

I actually like playing the fighting game, though some of the patch changes I find beyond retarded, but hell the media praised single player content of this game is complete dogshit.
Agree with your point about the balance patvhes like what does bringing down cetrion's hp by 5% actually do to nerf her

I'm wonder if "support" would have ended sooner if Sheeva wasn't such a problem. Do you think the huge outcry over her made NRS come back for one final, emergency patch? It was such a small patch that it really doesn't give off the vibe of "The final update"

I just compared it to a mobile game. If they made this stupid grind unlockable with money, I'd be even more pissed about it.

Here's a crazy idea:

Have unlockable stuff be unlocked in the Krypt, but you only have to do it once.
Crazy right?

I reset the stupid Krypt like 36 times on my PS account and guess what, I'm still missing half the concept art and music because nobody tested this shit and they never cared to fix it with a patch.

Only way to unlock everything in a reasonable amount of time is to buy the PC version and use a cheat engine, lol.

Would have been great. And they've done just that before. Although i'm thinking it's not necessarily the dev teams at fault here. I think there's a lot of marketing/management guys that get involved to the games detriment at the end of the day.

I would love someone from the team to one day be able to explain some of the reasons why things like this were added. Were they management requests, or ultimatums (do this, we'll let you do that situations). Or just plain dumb ideas from one of the dev guys that Boon said yes to.

Realized the Single Player content was trash when I start using an AI to play the game for me instead.

It’s crazy to me that some believe people will look back on MK11 fondly. Most boring title in NRS history and it will not be missed. I hope NRS handles the next game much differently.
people like different things and due to that might prefer different takes on the series or not. when i look at mk9 to 11 i prefer what they did with 11. does that mean its perfect and cant be improved, of course not....but i liked the general direction they went with this game in term of gameplay. it still has a very active playerbase on pc and like mkx, i would be surprised when people would not play it for year even when a new itteration appears.

The exact opposite could be said by people who love the game. You can't speak for everyone. People still love this game to this day.

People aren't saying it will be missed just bc they think MK11 is awesome. They are saying it to point out the cycle that has happened with EVERY NRS game before. It doesn't matter the reasons people complained about them. In every case people come back and say these games weren't bad.

You might be right about it not being remembered fondly. But history is definitely not on your side. And the fact that people don't acknowledge that this happens is what's really crazy.

I mean tbf, I don’t remember them ever announcing something like this in previous NRS games. I think in the past, all they may have done was either announced the new game, or announced them working on the new game. But they never said they were going to stop supporting the current game, it was more just assumed. So a lot of people would still hold on to hope of another patch and some even held out hope for more DLC.
They didn't, they'd simply announce their next game and everyone knew that was the focus. I believe a balance patch may have come out post-announcements, but not always. The tell, to be honest, was always the release of a "komplete edition" of a title. Once that hit retail, skins and balance patches were all that was left coming, every game. This includes Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

Aside from that, I do agree in some respect. Some people are acting like the game is now dead and even if they still enjoy the game, that now they have to stop playing. Or even that now, no more tournaments are going to be held for the game. The only difference this makes tournament wise is probably no more NRS backed tournaments, and obviously no more “versions” of the game with new balance patches.
This generation of gamers continues to boggle my mind. Constantly forcing themselves to play games they apparently hate, reading into things and content that was never actually announced, constantly stating a game is "dead," and basically allowing others and outside influences decide what they should and should not play. It's completely ass-backwards to me.

The announcement clearly states NetherRealm Studios is now focusing on their new upcoming game, and DLC, including characters, is done for Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. This means there could still be WB backed tournaments, as well as balance patches in the future for the game. Could be, it's not guaranteed of course, nor have they actually been deconfirmed. Time will tell.

For Tournaments, I've actually been hugely enjoying The Kolliseum Global. @Mr Aquaman is doing some fantastic stuff there, and it's been great seeing other communities play the game, and with different character variety as well (seeing Kitana and Rain !?!?).

Yeah. I personally think after they did their adjustments, overall, they've nailed the casual Single Player content. I suppose if you're an OCD completionist it'd bug the snot out of you still, but I personally don't care to unlock every palette swap of a skin I'll never use for a character I don't play.

Anyway, I do agree that there should be an option to pay for stuff instead of having to grind for it. Like, why wouldn’t NRS want you to be able to buy all the things anyway? Makes no sense if I’m being honest.
I would have liked to have seen a proper Time Krystal Store, with every item available that you could buy with said currency specifically. Time Krystals, at least for me, tend to accumulate in their thousands as I wait for the Premium Shop to bring up something I'd be interested in.

Was I the only one who'd got the impression that the Forge was meant to have massively more focus and value to both the Krypt and the game as a whole?

With the amount of ingredients you could find and the amount of recipes there are, it initially seemed like it would have provided some kind of RPG-like value to the game where I'd be constantly revisiting the Krypt to create more things for the main game and investing a lot of time and research into things I could create, not just Konsumables. I kept expecting more recipes to be added for more and more gear, tower keys, utilities and weapons for Kryptguy etc. especially as the game got expanded.

Instead once I'd opened all areas of the Krypt and forged the dozen pieces of exclusive gear it offers, I've never needed to use it again.

Their idea was that you HAD to use consumables to complete most of the single-player towers. So you'd use Forge to make those. People didn't, and so they got smashed by the anti-fun tower extras, and NRS nerfed those elements, rendering Forge even more pointless.

It was just extra grind on grind from its birth.

Wow I asked on Twitter to Jonathan Anderson at NRS if they'd even fix the horrid clipping glitch with Kahn's luggage tag on one of his skins (surely just a simple fix - can't they spare an intern during a lunch break?) and this is the answer I got :(

Nope, i would be shocked if they would bother with this.

You fail to understand how the whole proces of patching works, it's not a job for an intern and there is whole certification process for it on top of having to do it for every platform (outside studio handle MK on PC and one more for Switch = additional money). Makes 0 sense to do such a minor fixes from the bussines perspective and that's the only perspective that matters.
