Mass Effect 2 is my personal favorite game ever. The character's, the writing, the gunplay are all fantastic I must have played the game through somewhere around 9 times just to do missions in different orders so I could get new dialogue. The suicide mission is the best finale to a game I have played I really hope that another RPG takes that whole sequence and puts a new spin on it someday as I haven't seen it done since, the decision making there had me on the edge of my seat the whole way.

Also played Persona 4 for the first time several months ago and that has quickly gone up my lists of favorites

The Witcher 3 so far seems great. A lot of information to digest though. Tried to fight a wraith at that well and got bodied, gonna take awhile to get used to and good at the combat. Like I was doing no damage while the wraith was going ham on me.

Anyway, the storyline and cutscenes are great. I can really see the immersion in this game being insane.

Final Fantasy 7 and 10 were amazing. Anxiously awaiting the remake release of FF7!

Zelda OOT, MM & BOTW all incredible.

I don't have the attention span for most of them anymore, but these still pull me in every time. Tried Witcher recently but couldn't get into it :/

This is so weird. Everybody talking about RPG in this broad as hell anygame can be an RPG sense. Yeah I don't know what to say. I haven't played the Witcher 3 but when it comes to RPG I think about Chrono Trigger so yeah I believe that is the best of them all, However I have played Mass effect and a completely love it but don't see how it can be compared to Chrono Trigger as it feels like I am comparing bananas to pineapples.

Jade Empire is by far my favourite.

I love the Mass Effect series (especially Mass Effect 2), Dragon Age series (especially Origins), Fallout New Vegas, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic series, Kingdom of Amalur - Reckoning & I've been playing a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 lately.

Shining Force and Shining Force II will always be my all-time favorites.
You just got that damn battle music stuck in my head!!! (edit: and by "just", I mean your post from 2017...)

It's really more survival than RPG, but I'm so hopelessly addicted to Valheim...

I haven't been able to get into the Souls like action RPGs, I am just not a big enough hero to tackle them...I like my RPGs old school and turn based. As such, the Persona games have always done a great job of stealing away 100s of hours of my adult life.

I have also been extremely surprised by how insanely good Yakuza's abrupt genre shift into turn based RPG has been...to the point it's damn near my favorite entry in the whole series.

There was an old RPG I remember playing for the Sega Genesis called Starflight. It was a space exploration RPG. Very old school, but a ton of fun. Literally thousands of planets to explore, map, mine, and whatever. You could form a crew and train them, buy upgrades for your ship and landing craft. But there was also a great story/mystery to try and figure out.

We all die alone. So love yourself before you go.
Greedfall is also a nice RPG, it was free on PS+ Last month and I tried it out. No regrets so far.

Knight of the Old Republic
Baldur's Gate 2
Final Fantasy 7 and 9
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Mass Effect 1+2
Persona 5
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

Those are pretty much my favorites.

Been playing Dragon Quest 11 recently and I seriously think it's probably the best JRPG ever made.

Shoutouts to Dragon Age: Origins and fuck DA Inquisition, that shit sucks.

Actually the more I think about it, the less I can recommend Bioware games. I can't replay most of them myself because their graphics, gameplay flow and systems age like rotten eggs.
I rather replay a random 90's JRPG than a mid 2000's western RPG, due to how clunky that shit is and how bad graphics age that aren't stylised.

Inquisition wasn’t for everyone, but that game was godlike to me. Great open world areas, awesome combat, decent storyline, super addicting, etc. Even the DLC was good but I still have never beaten the DLC’s. I played the shit out of the base game, by the time DLC was released, I had to create a new character because returning to an old RPG save file is basically impossible because you have no idea what is going on, lol. But anyway, all the DLC requires basically you to be at endgame levels, just about at least. And I could never get back to that point because I was so burnt out on the game considering how many hours I put into it.

I’m hype for the next Dragon Age. Glad they are working on it, but who knows when it’ll be released. Hell, I’m still waiting on Elden Ring gameplay or ANY info, and the initial teaser trailer was released like 22 months ago or something crazy like that. And we haven’t gotten really anything since then.

My biggest problem on games like Dragon Age is I get about 1/3 in and then I want to go back and try a new character or try new feats/abilities. I've probably created at least 50+ characters in Dragon Age Origins and I almost never get much further than the Mage Keep.

Does Borderlands 2 count as an RPG? If so that's probably the game I've played the most and had the most fun with.

This is definitely me. Especially in Skyrim. I don’t even know how many different characters I made, but I do know I’ve played the beginning couple of hours probably more than anyone that isn’t a speedrunner. Knew ALL the ins and outs of the beginning, where every little hidden thing is, quickest way to get out to actually really get started, etc. Then at about hour 4 or so... time to do it again with a new character, lmao.

What a day. What a lovely day.
The legend of Dragoon.

The most forgotten game of all time. It's in my top 5 games ever
I’m glad somebody mentioned this. One of my favorite RPG’s of all time. Although, I’m biased because idea of elementals has always fascinated me.

I reeeeeeeeally wish they’d give LoD the FF7 treatment with a full update.

Hey Juggs I read the other day about where your avatar comes from and why you love that game so much. I just came to weirdly say that I think your love for RPGs is really adorable. I haven't played one in years but Okami was a unique and beautiful experience.

I really enjoyed Inquisition for what it was, it was stunning to look at but it was still lacking to me. I think a lot of the companions aren't that memorable in comparison to the previous games. I really enjoyed the Orlais quests & Morrigan (my favourite Dragon Age character besides Oghren & Anders). With Inquisition, I do think they added too much stuff to do to the point it feels like there's a grind (It's the only DA I don't have 100% achievements because of that) & there are segments that are extremely boring like Redcliffe which was awesome in Origins.

The one thing that is consistent with Dragon Age is its amazing DLC, I don't think there's DLC that's actually bad in any Dragon Age, they're all great fun but I think Dragon Age Origins with Awakening & Dragon Age 2 with Mark of the Assassin are probably the best in the series without a doubt. All in all, Dragon Age has never had terrible game, just incomplete (2) or just missed the mark (Inquisition) by adding too much unnecessary crap.

Dragon Age Origins when you go to the Circle of Magi to deal with blood mages & demons to recruit the mages/templars is literally the worst part of the game, like it is fucking horrible. I've done it probably over 100 tines & I hated it every single time & it's probably the longest segment in the game.
