Sorry i never got alert for this reply, most people will say All balls don't bounce is his best but Book of Human language just hit me at the perfect time and def will never leave my top 3 until I die. I don't love everything Acey does but I will enjoy the shit of it still, I thought The Lonely ones was really good.I LOVE Book of Human Language. It's pure poetry over amazing beats.
As for late 90's-early 2000's boom bap, you're absolutely right. That's the real golden era of hip-hop, imo. That's when the production and sampling leveled up past the samey sounding heavy but basic drum beats and into more complex longer samples from all sorts of genres. Also, the lyricists reached peak talent at that time and had this sort of "too cool for school" vibe that didn't feel forced. It was like a competition to see who could sound the illest on every track.
The problem was, most of the good stuff never reached any sort of large audience. A bunch of stuff was only pressed on 12" in short runs. I went through discogs.com and looked at every hip-hop vinyl from 97-03 and made a youtube playlist of all the best stuff I could find. It's a rather large playlist at this point (almost 1000 tracks) but I feel like each one is at least an 8 out of 10. So, just check it out, maybe put it on random and jump around. I'm sure you'll hear some gems that you've never heard before, as well as some that you remember but might not have heard for 20+ years. It's quite a trip.

I got so much to catch up on but I'm so addicted to Rick and Morty...Dunno why I have not been getting alerts for this thread at all. I posted this vid a couple pages back and yeah R.A has been doing it good since the mid 90's. his new album is really good.
All Balls Don't Bounce is great but A Book of Human Language is probably the best "concept album" I've ever heard. It just depends on if you're in the mood for a concept album.Sorry i never got alert for this reply, most people will say All balls don't bounce is his best but Book of Human language just hit me at the perfect time and def will never leave my top 3 until I die. Hip hop got a bit weird post 2k some good stuff still came out but the quality and creativeness kinda peaked for my taste late 98-2002. I started getting into a lot of Canadian Stuff Epic, all the P&C stuff and branched out from there and I fucking still love Canadian shit they are more on the backpacker side for the most part but the boom bap was fading by then.
The playlist is good lots of shit I havent thought about in a long ass time lol. I used to love the Juggaknots Clear blue skies was such a dope track dunno if its on there but I saw a track by them on your PL.
This is probably my favorite EP of all time, in our crew we had this pretty much never went out of rotation ever.
I honestly do not know how to process all the good hip hop I have heard the last 25 years. Maybe it was my age or whatever but 94-2003 ish was def my favorite period of music to me personally. Lots of good shit def came after that but those years def hit me the hardest.
This was my personal anthem back in the day when I was a youngin, makes me laugh now lol.
We could probably fill pages of old hip hop that %94 of this site would not feel in the slightest but thats how it should be lol.
I saw Propagandhi back in 2012 in Manhattan. For the encore, they covered "Hard Times" and John Joseph joined them on stage The whole "The Age of Quarrel" is fucking great. If you like that sound, you should check out DRI, RKL, Suicidal Tendencies, etc. Comeback Kid was the opening band at the Propagandhi show. Some big ginger guy stage dove straight into my face. Fun show other than the bloody lip lol, but that comes with the territory in punk and hardcore shows.I've gotten back into metal/thrash lately. Lots of Power Trip, Havok, and Slayer. I found a hardcore punk band called Cro Mags. They have a song called Hard Times that I think I'm gonna make my new wrestling theme
Partially as a reference to one of the all time greatest promos, Dusty Rhodes' Hard Times
The good side by Troye Sivan. Its a very raw and soft song. everyone give it a try!MP3 player? iPod? Windows Media Player? WinAmp? Conch Shell? Noisy Fan? What are you listening to right now?
