No, I actually have beaten a Killer Tier opponent in a Match before, and in others I've occasionally taken off a life bar.

I'm a very analytical individual (in everything, not just games), and I'm very good at self reflection and admitting my faults/limitations, as it's a great way to improve (acknowledge something and then work on it). Right now, I know the vast majority of players in Killer Tier are well beyond my skill level; their fundamental knowledge of the game's mechanics simply outclass me.

This isn't a put-down on myself or a negative mindset, it's simple fact. If I continue to put in the time and effort, I may indeed get there myself, but I'm certainly not there yet.

And absolutely, playing better players challenges you and forces you to step up, however if you're continually playing people who are too ahead of you, you actually won't improve as well because you are not given the opportunity to properly and effectively apply what you're learning and further refine it. You're taking on high level tests without having had the time to properly learn the material.

You play StarCraft II, do you play Ranked? I made Platinum 2 at my peak, and on occasion I was being matched against Diamond players. Sometimes I'd beat them, sometimes I wouldn't. But it would force me to macro and micro better, to improve my response times, and learn from those losses. Then, matching me up against others around my skill level, I'd be able to apply and refine those new skills, and if I began outclassing them, the system moved me up and began matching me against tougher opponents more against my new skill level to further that refinement.

However this would be like that system matching me up against Master opponents constantly. I wouldn't be moving up for a long, long time simply because I'm not being given the opportunity to learn as they shut you down too fast; they truly outclass you.

Perhaps, but most of my Ranked Leagues matches have been against Gold and Silver Tier opponents, so they're out there. It's possible I was just playing at the wrong time when Killer Tier was all that was available, but to have four in a row, when you clearly can't handle them, in Qualifiers, that was very frustrating and disappointing.
Word. Ya the matchmaking unfortunately has it's downsides. There isn't even an option to filter out based on connection.

I enjoy playing long sets alot more then ranked cause in ranked you face so many different characters and playstyles that it takes me alot longer to adjust too and learn matchups. Yesterday i played against a aganosplayer, i didn't know much about the mu but every match i learned a couple more things and slowly got a grasp how to play against that character. Im gonna start playing more ranked when i know atleast how every character works. Saves me some tilt :p

Ha, fair enough. I always like variety instead of a hard grind in my learning.

I have discovered though that I have no idea who to approach the Cinder, and the Tusk match up. At all.

Man if they come out with a sequel and it has 2 things I will probably just drop every game and play it religiously:
1. I wish they added the ability to link pokes like sf style qp mp fireball (if you could plink on these links like pre sf5 sf I would be ecstatic).
I dunno why they didn't allow it? Maybe they felt it would feel too much like sf or something but I think it would make the game more interesting slightly
and 2. I don't really care for the fact that jump attacks on hit serve as openers. I would prefer you just get lots of hit advantage and can manual into a combo from there. For instance if I plan to do a target combo on blocked j hk to create some pressure but the hk actually lands I just get an auto double. Feels weird imo.

Maybe I am alone in thinking this but I really like the game so much regardless. #bringbackki

@Hellbringer sorry I just randomly bolted. Forgot to pay my internet bill apparently lol. Ggs anywho

Man I just played against my own shadow jago shadow. Got teabagged by myself. If that isn't the coolest feature tho btw of any fighting game I have ever played I dunno what is. Can you dl shadows of like top players and practice vs them?
The concept of Shadows are fantastic, and it's something I'd love to see in other fighting games. I've lost to my own Shadows as well, though no teabagging as that's not my style. I do do the in-game Taunts though.

Finished my last three Qualifying Matches. Two Killer Tier opponents and one Silver Tier. Went 1-2 but didn't do too awful against the first Killer Tier opponent, all things considered.

This time, the game placed me in Silver Tier, Natural. I don't know how those sub-ranks work, but overall I am happy with the placement itself. I do believe Silver Tier is where I should be right now given my knowledge and skill with the game. With more knowledge, experience, and better execution, I believe I will be able to to climb to Gold Tier in time.

I dunno bro I got matched with a killer and actually won. Just try not to get overwhelmed and playing opponents who are better than you is pretty fun imo and best way to lvl up. As fun as it is getting matched up vs dudes who guess break on frame 1 of your first linker (literally the entirety of bronze/50% of silver players). Most of the time I bet you defeat yourself by thinking "aw fuck killer... gg" before game starts.

Side note as I am lvling up my game I notice a lot of people mentioning unbreakable damage combos. How are these done? For instance one of the characters I am tryinng to pocket is maya and ki infil mentions she can do 20% unbreakable easily but I don't understand how that can be.

I agree with you. I'm good (not the goat, but very decent) I stopped playing ki for a year (between s2 and 3) and my first online match was a VERY GOOD lvl 50 sabre Wulf
(I was lvl 28 on my current account at the time) and DEMOLISHED THEM.

If anything lvl means they played long enough! It doesn't always reflect their actual skill.

Shame man. Who's number one right now?
Well hes not number one i tought he was, but hes top 3 all time for numbers of stars where highest is 45 stars. The guy i played his tag was boss shaolin.
I tought i had him tho, he was playing RAAM and i was winning by almost a full lifebar, then i got knocked down and never got back up cause i didnt know how to get out of those groundstomps into flip up into command grab.
Labbed it to see what i could do to get out and noticed he can only OTG with medium kick and theres a gap where i can jump right after the flip out.
But still, losing 300 points for that is still bullshit lol, losing a rank and a half because u lose promotion match is weird to say the least.

I'm not 100% sure how to handle RAAM myself yet, but yeah, that is definitely a disappointment and something to be frustrated over.

ya seems like you might as well always go for break on the otg. His oki definately scary since his buttons slow and no full screen presence. 300 points is nuts tho....wtf? As a silver losing to killer and u lose 300? I noticed other day seems like rank gain for losing/ winning against higher rank isn't scaled? Seems weird.

If you always do it, isn't that an easy Counter Breaker then for your opponent?

Just like with Tusk, he has this one leaping and stab move that always seems to be a Heavy Attack. Breaking it is easy, until they start Counter Breaking you...

Ya I guess I never thought about that I always see people going for break on that at tournaments tho. What is the point of his fake out stomp tho? (raam)

I joined ki discord and nicky's discord and im finding alot of ggs. My glacius and rash are getting pretty descent. The ki community is so much better and less toxic/whiney then the nrs community. Really makes everything so much more enjoyable.

Its very risky to break since its at the end of a combo. Same as trying to break air juggles at end of a combo wich only saves you a little dmg and oki.

I've found the Killer Instinct community actually really does love their game. It creates a very different vibe.

Just a reminder of this Sunday's event all.

@Hellbringer, let me know if you're going to use the Steam version of the game. If not, I'll Set the Lobby as Private so randoms don't join.
